I agree. We have proof that Sager is working on it, but we're far from calling the case closed.
I hope they are investing enough time into it, and maybe test some 680m's along the way :)

This is the 'Status Of 7970M/GTX 680M in HM Models' thread.

If you want the thread laid to rest you should stop posting in it ;)

We can agree to disagree. If you feel it is time to move on, don't view this thread. Not much else to do on your part.

You need to understand that this whole "movement" was for more than just a one-time issue, but instead for the attitude and approach of Clevo towards it's customers and it's manner of supporting them, which it's customers found to be at fault, that required correction. This could repeat generation after generation of released models from Clevo and the subsequent EOL declaration for the previous generation, which would be clearly unacceptable.

Might as well as continue on this thread as making a new one would clog and confuse everything... already having trouble handling several 680M and 7970M threads altogether, lets keep it simple

People are already asking Dell to provide GPU upgrade packages in the Alienware forum at NBR, Clevo and their retailers can't stay behind in this, if Dell does it first there will be a lot of people choosing AW over Clevo...

But if Clevo takes the initiative it is a great opportunity to win a lot of new buyers...

But no one who doesn't already know any better, and is looking for whether the 7970M works in the HMs, will click on a thread which titled "No more Clevo for me...." for that info, so what good is it to the forum in it's current form?

Plus you have to slog through hundreds of posts to finally get to the fact that there may be a chance.

I really can't grasp why the merit of my suggestion is hard to appreciate. I'm going to let it go now though.

I think your idea is valid. So I think you should just make the topic. :)

And my 2 cents are, include quotes of the Sager posts in it.

You have a good point. Still, this thread needs to be locked down if a new thread about the subject is opened (just look at the 680m vs 7970m thread in the gaming forum. Although there is a dedicated thread for the 680m people still post in the old, gigantic thread).

If you want to create a new thread, go for it. But please try go gather as much information from this thread as possible to put in a new one, and ask for this one to be closed.

EDIT: Still, I feel closing this thread would be a mistake, and I agree with the point Prasad brings up. This thread isn't only concerned with the 7970m-HM issue, but addresses a larger issue about Clevo notebooks in general. I feel like that is the dilemma here ;)

Guys why we dont ask for a Thread title change?
There are alot of infos in this, and it can coexist with the Petition thread since that one is probably destined to die.

At least we can keep this one and talk about future developments/findings about the subject.

Poll can stay just for the record, because it shows how much users are pissed for being unheard and left behind.

A good title would be "[Official] Amd 7970m/GTX 680m upgrade feasibility in Clevo HM models line".

    Or something along the lines.
Also Kevin u make some good points there and i totally endorse them.

I don't see what all the great info is. It's all just speculation. The only real info is from Sager and that is just something you have to wait and see what their results are and what the decision is from Sager/Clevo.

Last post was June - its now October.
Was there any change to this? - Coming from a turned off potential 1st time Clevo/Sager P150Em/NP9150 buyer?
I sure as hell don't want to throw money at a Mxm GPU laptop that can't be upgraded a year later

There's always that chance. We've been lucky MXM has been common all these years. MXM is really to allow for swapping of the GPU from the OEM level without need to manage multiple mainboards. Yes it has the benefit of future user upgrades, but not necessarily going to be compatible year to year.

Yep Thanks.... sounds like the mindset one needs to surrender to.
They change MXM standard & it all goes out the window anyhow.

You can't really be mad at Clevo, Alienware did the same thing when it comes to the M18x R1 to the R2 they had to use some trickery in order to get the R1 to see the GTX680m's.
