Yeah core voltage stuff is only available for Haswell chips in XTU, because of the integrated on-die VRM.

I think you might still be able to undervolt an Ivy Bridge with Throttlestop, check out The Throttlestop Guide for details.

I now have the anxiety bug!! ordered and now waiting, don't want to wait, but have to wait!
-
Yeah the waiting phase sucks the most. Just make sure you don't get cold feet at the last second and decide to pull the plug on the entire thing.

Lucky for me i have no choice, i have already sold my desktop and right now what was my former office is a gutted room with concrete and wood everywhere!
So now i need the laptop come the next 2 weeks -
-
My NP8298 just entered stage 2!

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your order! Let us know what you think once you get it.

After 3 weeks of waiting, the 8268-S I ordered from GenTech has shipped! It's going to get here with 2 days to spare before I leave the university... and it has one of the last 95% gamut screens that were available!

Gmarket - [íì±ì»´í¨í°] ICLUB [íì±ì»´í¨í°] U54F BossMonster Neo7...
Bought this WA50SJQ last week and finally got to sit down with it the other day.
It didn't come with Windows, so I installed it myself. But for some reason the GTX 850M wasn't initializing in Device Manager (Code 43) so I brought it in to a repair center. Turnabout was 1 hour, and now everything works perfectly.
Laptop is fairly light for a 15.6" yet it's a powerhouse. The GTX 850M really is a miracle. I used to have a 750M, and this Maxwell chip somehow manages to get 80% more performance than its predecessor! In addition, I ordered a Samsung 840 120GB mSATA drive and can't wait to install it.
The LG IPS panel seems to have good colour reproduction. Viewing angles are awesome.
Keyboard is pretty good, and the touchpad is miles better than the one that came with my Acer V7-482PG. I just wish this came with backlighting.
Only thing bad about the notebook is that the build quality seems a little lower than I expected. I believe almost everything is plastic. But I guess for the price I paid (roughly $1000) then it's totally worth it. Also, the fans seem to only have three options.. passive, normal, and airplane, so it does get a little noisy. However, I don't hear anything ATM as I'm typing this. -
any more updates/reviews on the 8298?

I got my Sager NP8298 on monday and it's fantastic.
The design looks great, the pictures online really don't do it justice. The matte finish is classy and the ugly trackpad light can be turned off, and is pretty much invisible when unlit.
Also regarding the fan noise that people keep complaining about, I have no idea what they're talking about. It's extremely quiet even under heavy loads, much quieter than my hp dv7.
The keyboard is excellent, one of the best I've used on a laptop. The trackpad is just okay, but can be made pretty good if you tweak the settings in the built in software.
I haven't had a chance to test out the 870m too extensively yet but it's maxed out anything I've thrown at it so far. -
I also hear you with the sound 'noise' that people keep complaining about. Like myself, my wife, Thanatos, and others have shown, the noise from the fans are negligible at best.
I honestly don't understand the official reviews that various companies give showing how the Clevo's are noisy and uncomfortably noisy when under load because of the fans, and in the same comment say the Asus, Alienware, Lenovo, (insert major distributor here) is soooo much quieter.
I'd like to know if the fan noise is tested at the same distance from the laptops, under the same loads, under the same conditions, running the laptops for the same amount of time, and having had the OS booted and idle for the same amount of time.
With how divergent I find the official reviews to my very real world testing, my wife's very real world testing, Thanatos' very real world testing, and your own very real world testing, I have to come to some unfavorable conclusions.
1. The clevos they review are lemons and run like jet engines.
2. The clevos that all 4 of us have are exceptions to every other one out there and run amazingly quiet.
3. Their ears are amazingly sensitive to noise levels that the normal person apparently is not, and the clevo fans have some high pitch whine that we can't pick up.
4. Their reviews are bias to the big corporations, likely from kickbacks or under the table payments.
I really pray it's not #4, but unfortunately I've seen this happen more times than not. And as Sager/Clevo is interested by word of mouth, and Alienware/Dell, Asus, HP, Toshiba, etc pay insane money in advertising, I'll let other people draw their own conclusions. -

Ordered my Sager NP8278-S from xoticpc on Thursday.
just got base as it has packaged the upgrades i would have put on the base 8278. all i added was windows 8, i have win 7 but with the msata SSD for operating system and me being a novice i figured id pay the 80 bucks to have them install OS and set it up right.
i would have liked to use a large ssd as primary drive but i was at top of budget already will worry about this down the road. i will be looking for advice on simple installs in the future since i know nothing about pretty much anything.
I am coming from 5 good years on an old sager np8662. it served me very well but the graphics card is finally at its end but until recently i could play any game well enough, mostly gw2/skyrim/ and civ5 is what i played. it went kaput just after i bought borderlands 2 a few months back so i will finally get to play that hey its new to me^^
i looked around and around for another brand just for a change but in the end, bang for buck i couldn't justify anything over this particular 17" laptop im sure ill be pleased..unless i get the wrong computer mailed to me
i go to work/in front of customers a lot so picked the 8278 over the 'gamier' looking 8298 and some other brands that had a bit too much bling for when i use it at work.
anyway hopefully it won't take too long and it shows up in tip top shape -

My 8258-S is ready to ship according to Reflexnotebook.

Welcome to the family.
When you get it, let people know what you think about the cooling as well as the fan noise.
Myself, Thanatos, and others have shown that the noise is negligible even under load, and while hitting the max-fan button does rev it up, at least I have never heard it hit that even under heavy running games.
The most I've hit so far is playing Witcher 2 in uber mode. Not ultra. Uber mode.
So will be curious on your inputThaenatos likes this. -
No problem. Will do and compare with my old AW M15x.

I know it's much quieter than my previous Asus G51JX-X1. -

I can't seem to get mine to work with the 17.x drivers. It disconnects for me every time after I sleep. Reverted to 16.0.0 a while ago.
-
Windows 8.1 has a flaky network wake system for some types of cards.
For that you basically leave the network always on and disable sleeping on the NIC.
Ordered!
