    @svl7

The GTX680M vbios you requested, used nvflash_windows_5.118 to backup, vbios size is 87kb(89088 bytes).

66 degree celsius is amazing. 580M got up to almost around 90 degree celsius in this notebook if I remember correctly?

Like Meaker says, 3DMark looks at the core speed before the test is loaded on to the GPU, so many times it is still idling/downclocked and you get low MHz read :)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Request: Do a Battlefield 3 run and find the average FPS.
1920x1080 ultra 4xMSAA + 16xAF is the settings. According to notebookcheck you should get around 34FPS which I suspect is wrong

That pretty much confirms that Notebookcheck review is a total faulty review. They got 34FPS in average on Battlefield on max settings.

You and the other reviewers (The Verge) got around 44FPS in average. Nvidia themselves also got around 45ish FPS which puts it 18% ahead of 7970M, not 7% behind

Metro 2033 scores seems dead on though

it doesn't prove anything. BF3 varies from map to map, and wild fluctuations within the same map. THen, you throw in multiplayer which messes with the numbers even more.

All we can hope for is that the notebookcheck review was done consistently...meaning they used the same sequence, the same map with all their laptops

All we can deduce from hacknesses 40-50 is that it is playable and he is happy with it

And this is why I like the crysis bench above. It is 100% reproduceable and is the same regardless of who runs it

How come it's so far behind SlickDude's 7970? Due to the OC?

The min FPS look better, though.

As stated in an above post, my crysis 2 bench was run at 950/1400

I will run a stock bench tonight

i'm very interested to see the OC'ed numbers coming from the 680m on the same crysis bench

Yes good points you make Slickdude. But the thing is that Notebookcheck tried single player and they got much lower FPS than 2 reviews now. So weird that both reviews test less resource heavy areas while notebookcheck apparantly does not.

Yes the Crysis 2 benchmark is total legit and is a good measure. We should do more of these, but stock vs stock so that no one get confused.

I think Batman also have a ingame benchmark. :)

Can we has OC game benches? (Bf3 multiplayer with map name & settings) would appreciate it.

maybe they didn't even bother setting at high performance and disabling/closing all the other programs while doing the tests. good news is that real owners are finally posting the legit benchmarks.

Stock, my Crysis 2 bench numbers were a few percentage points higher than the 680m bench. This is consistent though as crysis 2 tends to favor amd.

I'll run a stock bench tonight and post the numbers

Maybe you can do a heaven benchmark run too?

Compare 7970M and 680M anyway you can guys. Use any game benchmark you can find so they are legit. Everything at stock first, then later move to the overclocking part. So we can finally figure out how these two GPUs stand in comparision to each other

Looking forward to your crysis 2 scores Slickdude :)

Your results on the front page are almost consistent with nVIDIA's press bench sheet:
    http://www.notebookcheck.net/typo3temp/pics/92c554a8ba.png

The FPS does fall short here and there from nVIDIA's, but that's to be expected. Overall, the results are very reassuring.

Thank you very much for the info!

Yeah that would be lol-worthy. Maybe they were doing disk defragment or something when doing the BF3 run on the 680M lol :p

Another thing I think the community wants to know is the temperature of the GPU while gaming, especially when gaming demanding games like Metro and BF. Cheers :)

Anyways, here is a run of my 7970M setup with Crossfire disabled (one card running), stock GPU clocks:

    So,
    7970M: 44.6FPS
    680M: 41.9FPS

Quite weird though: 7970M get higher max FPS than 680M, while 680M get higher min FPS (11FPS vs 18FPS)

I agree. Lets just keep this thread as a comparison thread. And lets look at it objectively. Benchmarks and temperatures and everything. :)

Crysis 2, 7970M have 6% more FPS in Average. Both GPUs have well over 30FPS, so both are more than 30FPS for smooth gaming

Now we also have a Crysis 1 benchmark to compare thanks to Speedy. I`d also like to request Batman benchmark done by both GPUs. Maybe do the same map with both GPUs in Battlefield + Metro and compare that too :)
