ok, so what happens when you run the memory controller in there and do a game in window mode?
-
Monitoring frequency or voltage
My poor English
-
monitor memory controller load. the 7th one down.
-
Thanks
. The max memory controller load is perfect but the graphic score 6859 is a little low: this is @894-1250 graphic score 7503:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P7278 3DMarks
But memory controller load 100%
Don't you think it'd be better to check in the first place? Or you missed this post? http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/673583-p150em-upgrading-675m-680m-32.html#post8687888 -
actually it would be easier to just ask Louis at dell instead of speculating..tbh.
-
Is he one of the dell vbios programmers?
-
he is the head graphics card engineer for dell amd/nvidia cards.
also, best to post a new updated thread over at gpuz and see if they have any new answers...some seem to display what your asking about.
Memory controller load - techPowerUp! Forums
since they made the program, maybe they can give you some insight into this.
could be as simple as a driver or complicated as the a part on the pcb..it's all speculation.
also try reading the asic and see what it reports back. -
Gotcha
-
Well if svl7 and me can't figure out a solution to this I might contact them, one of the modded vbios behaves similar to Luoxia's modded vbios, max memory controller load 48%, but it has roughly a 500 points deduction in graphic score for 3DMark11 when running at the same clock as the stock vbios.
-
500 points translates into...
1 to 2 fps in both directions. and looking at both scores. about a 2 fps over all difference. which can be compensated by different settings in the end.
but a 100 percent memory load is usually using all the memory...not say 10 percent and calling it a 100 percent memory load. that's the part that throws me off. -
have you factored in that maybe gpu-z cant read it correctly? have you tried using any other programs.
-
It's more like the occupied bandwidth, like how wide the road is between the GPU and the vram tho. And that 100%... Maybe the bandwidth got halfed or data in between got duplicated or it didn't flush completely and left the data footprint... Anyway it's a weird problem.
-
It could be that too, I've tried changing from stock to modded and repeat, stock vbios is always lower than 48% @800-1800(900) and certain modded vbios are always at 71~91%@800-1800(900).
Edit: I've tried using HWINFO64 but it doesn't seem to detect the card even when a 3D app is running. What other programs do you recommend? -
so what exactly do you think it's stopping you from doing? your not experiencing the driver crashing or bsod are you?
-
Speaking of being banned
Mods are clearly on form at the moment.
In response to me upgrading I like my 6990M I dunno why it has been good to me so I feel like it deserves to be used more before added to the pile, if possible I would like to try and skip a generation for once but then again when I set it up on my new 27 inch 120hz tv in a few weeks time I may reconsider
-
Ok svl7 and Saltius both know this problem and they do think this is pretty odd, and if what gpu-z is reporting is true that means the memory controller is bottlenecking with the modded vbios, then there's no point to go for overvolting and up the core clock until this problem is solved. And no there's no driver crash (except FFXIV) and no BSOD.
-
hummmm, so i see....
guess we get a different perspective once the alienwares get their cards in place. see if it does the same thing as the clevo. -
It seems to be just the vbios, Saltius has comfirmed that with his modded vbios on Luoxia's MSI card the memory controller load doesn't go above 50% during the benchmark. Will let you guys know when we found a solution to this.

Seems like MSI cards don't throttle that much like Clevo cards do
.
Furmark 1280 x 720 @ Stock clock/Stock vbios
Edit: Furmark 1920 x 1080 4xMSAA @ default clock/default vbios/Memory controller load: 85%, 8FPS

hackness, or anyone else who knows that - I have an extremely noob question to ask that I couldn't really find a proper answer to from google or a forum post.
Ready?
OK, here goes:
Where do I get and how do I install a 304.79 (or any new driver for that matter) modified driver for the 680M?
I know, in these forums this is almost ban worthy
Still, I tried looking around laptopvideo2go and the modified INFs, and couldn't find a proper modified INF that included the 680M, so how did you install those drivers?
Thanks in advance. -
Apparently, the standard Nvidia 304.79 Beta includes support for the 680M even though its not listed on the site. Did you already try to install that version from the Nvidia site?
I think I have seen other 680M users say it worked. -
Go to here and select 600M and then select GTX675M and download the beta 304.79. It should install straight away for the GTX680M as all Clevo model cards are listed in the inf, don't need to mod the inf.
-
Thanks, but the reason I'm asking this is because I won't be having a Clevo, but an MSI barebones with the 680M (GT70), and one guy I know couldn't even install the 304.79 beta driver from nVIDIA on his MSI GT70 with 675M, as it complained about incompatibility.
Edit: I'll probably need to ask this on the MSI forum, though. -
Luoxia seems to be using 302.71 on his msi 680m
-
But the 304.79 is new and official from nvidia.

does that mean the GTX 680m will run in a P151EM/HM too ? since it uses around the same amount of wattage? -
Prema has mentioned here that Clevo is currently working on that. Adding HD7970M/GTX680M support to the P151EM
.

thx , its good to see they are on getting fan speed access too.
-
looks like the FFXIV causes driver to crash only happens with GTX680M.. Game seems fine on the GTX660M

Hopefully nvidia fixes it ASAP. -
Hello, I`m back from the dead
Anyways, have you guys seen this? Alienware owners get a Dell 680M with turbo boost and its a bit higher clocked than the Clevo 680M.
You`re not alone dude. The first link have some possible solutions for you. You should check it out

Welcome home!
So who is going to flash this to a Clevo card first.
-
Bricked $2500 laptop? nty =]
it's already faster than my 25% overclocked desktop gtx 570 =P -
Ah sorry, the question was to people with SLI or other recovery methods.
Don't try this if you can't recover guys.
-
does the alienware 680m have a higher max overclock on stockvoltage than the clevo 680m?
-
not sure if this is one of you guys but video of BF3 performance -P170EM GTX 680m.

althought gpuz/nvidia-inspector show these turboboost clocks, while using furmark or 3dmark11 the 680M clocks no way higher then 719mhz... -
-
so do I need to disable turbo boost mode before I start overclocking? or is it good to go right after installing the latest drivers? My laptop is shipping by tomorrow and will get it in a week.
-
There isn't a turbo boost mode. I just use nVidia Inspector to bump clocks and bam away it goes.
-
no idea what youre trying to show me?
ofc you can manually oc but i was talking about turboboost (which auto-oc´s kepler chips).
this feature doesn´t work for the 680M (although gpuz etc. show it)
-
There's no turbo boost for the Clevo GTX680M, only Alienware's GTX680M has turbo boost at the moment.
-
HTWingNut, are these clocks 854/2300 stabe for gaming?
-
does alienwares turbo boost do anything which is unachievable by overclocking a clevo card?
-
pontless feature if ure going to OC the crap out of it anyways
-
not sure if im getting trolled or just not been able to make myself clear:
the "alienware gtx680m" shows the turboboost feature via gpuz but it does not work. clocks stay the same all the time (719mhz) during 3dmark11 or furmark... -
Ok im sorry didnt see your post. but that has to be a gpu-z fail then right? i mean they cant advertise a feature which doesnt work...
-
So basically it's performing like a Clevo card?
