Nice bro. But the physics score is too low for the clocks. Run without Hwmonitor in the background. 4.8 is more like 15520 in Firestrike physics. And 5.1 above 16300.

Could it be because I have adaptive voltage on buddy?
    C states?
I'm not the best clued up with OC

*update* complete new OC following all steps by Mr fox. No more adaptive nor c states

If you are planning on upgrading to an 9900k down the road, it has a stronger imc so you should in theory be capable of pushing higher ram speeds. It will depend on the board how much more you could squeeze out of it. Just something to consider.

For anybody that is interested, I have started building the setup into my office and tidying things up.

I still have some cable management to do which I will finalize later today, and removal of krypton tape when my new fans arrive today, but i'm starting to achieve a much tidier build.

The last thing for me to do will be to get the quick release connections, making the laptop at the port truly plug n play.

I have 2 fan controllers running.

    1 runs the pump only.
    1 runs the fans.

I haven't much data from when I had my 7700K. But 5.0 is around 16200 in Physics with cheap 2133 OEM sticks pushed to 2666MHz. Then do the math. Drivers can of course make a slightly difference.

Installed the new ram guys but it's corrupted windows and the system is hanging at the bios boot page, it tries to go past the bios page and it's just black screen and reboots, I have even done the fn+d bios reset after, any ideas?

7th restart and she's fired up... Very strange

Right guys, really struggling with this?

I have installed the new RAM and reset the settings back to default, I am now following brother @Mr. Fox overclocking guide for 5.0Ghz on the DM1, I followed it yesterday with the previous memory, no issues at all - booted through every time?

Now whenever I change the overclock settings to match Mr.Fox, it simply keeps going around in a boot loop-black screen and constant restarts (but these worked perfectly yesterday on the old ram sticks)?

I have no idea what to do, would appreciate some guidance on this one, please.

To confirm - RAM is installed in the rear 2 slots slot 1 and 2 (should it be - will this make any difference?).

Computer boots into windows with the new ram if I don't touch any settings after doing an fn+d reset to the bios.

    @Papusan @Meaker@Sager
    @Johnksss

I think I am running the oldest Prema bios for the KM1 (attached screenshot) @Prema, any ideas bro?

    * The minute I try and change the voltage manually to match any settings the system just refuses to post.

Sounds like the old RAM sticks were better, or they want different settings. Try increasing the RAM voltage by 0.025-0.050mV and see if it stops the boot loop. Some RAM just sucks at overclocking and won't behave right if you try tweaking it to run faster.

Samsung B-die is the easiest and most cooperative. Like all great things in PC land, Samsung B-die is no longer in production. Ain't it funny how everything good and awesome suffers the same fate and gets killed off by stupid bastards that don't care about good and awesome?

I'm not so sure he have oc'd the ram. I mean he added them in and thats it. He should try see if the laptop perform as normal on stock and up to 4.8GHz before he go further. When everything works as expected he can try have fun with ram oc'ing. All his benchmarks is similar as below 4.8 but done with higher clocks.

What are default timings on the new ram? Also post a screenshot of the timings you are trying to run in the bios.
Could be that they are too aggressive.

    @Mr. Fox @Papusan @jc_denton

Firstly apologies guys for the slow response, and I just want to say thanks all for taking the time to help me troubleshoot this :)
I have attached some screenshots below, of my clocks in the BIOS as well as a quick 3D Firestrike Physics only run, it appears all clocks are holding solid and peaked at nearly 120watts TDP - but still under 15k @ 4.8Ghz

I am really lost as to why such a low physics score, I even killed off 99% of background apps.
I'm not the strongest with overclocking, so maybe there is something I have missed.

Performance is set to high performance and I have even uninstalled the Nvidia driver and reinstalled (although i know this doesn't affect physics)
@Mr. Fox sorry bro - I haven't overclocked the RAM yet, simply removed single channel 2400 with dual-channel 2666 (settings attached)

Can start with this. Your clock drop below the target clock speed.
    upload_2019-8-18_1-34-26.png

4.5GHz match your 3Dmark Firestrike Physics score. This is from my old 6700K running 4.6GHz https://www.3dmark.com/fs/12984397
    upload_2019-8-18_2-13-27.png

Your Cinebench R15 score match more like my [email protected] in P870
    [IMG]
    upload_2019-8-18_2-4-52.png

You can start to Increase VR Current Limit. I don't remember the values for older bios. But read the explanation to the right when you selecting what to change. Either 1023 or 8191. Find also optimal voltage for your clock speed. Lets say for your 4.8GHz for the test purposes to get correct scores.
    upload_2019-8-18_1-39-52.png

A nice way to test different things is with ThrottleStop. As long bios is unlocked most can be done there.

Edit. I found also bro @Mr. Fox OC guideline for his Msi F5 barbone machine. I'm sure it is ok for him that I post it here for you.

Okay, dude, the plot thickens ( sorry for the huge pics not sure how to scale them down to thumbnails)

Managed to replicate all of brother @Mr. Fox settings, I have set the voltage to 1.28 for 4.8, the frequency stayed the same and hit 140 watts nearly on power, however, the scores are really poor still?
Maybe it's time I did a clean install?

    upload_2019-8-18_17-14-8.png

Run also ThrottleStop. Let it run Idle speed and post screenshoots of main TS page.

Test also 47X with voltage as this. Binned chips may run 48x

    Hi bro,

just did a clean install of windows - exactly the same issue.
See attached, to me everything looks spot on?
I have set the voltage to 1150 and 4.7 across all clocks everything is holding solid.

Should i do a full CMOS reset?

    I noticed core 1 + 2 drop to x42?

Remove check marks for C1E and BD PROCHOT. And only run TS with idle speed.

C0% in main TS window shouldn’t show more than 0.2-0.3 while your machine run idle speed. If the values is higher in idle state something (unwanted) run in the background.

Guys I have changed the cache ratio from "83" which was auto to 48 to match my core, now my score has boosted to 1034 at 4.8Ghz and 1.4 volts, however, I noticed the uncore ratio is sitting at x45, not x48, I'm assuming this is my bottleneck on points?

How do i go about clocking this on the P870, I'm a rookie when it comes to OC

You don’t need add uncore offset voltage with stock ram speed.

Please run 45x all cores and test with CBR-11.5 and CBR-15.

ThrottleStop is nice for changing settings on the fly. You can set up to 4 different OC profiles.

You change it in FIVR Window. Apply and save. You can make 4 profiles. No need to fiddle with Clock modulation or set multiplayer.

Want a special profil loading up. Look into Options.

This looks a bit better. Max out IccMax (A) as well. For all profiles you will use.

No need for higher voltage for Cashe vs. core. And remove check marks as said in previous post. Delete offset for Uncore voltage also.

Edit. I will put up a TS guide for you. But afterwards. I’m out.

    Thanks buddy,

I am going to have a good read on everything, i don't want to spam the thread anymore.

As it stands i have got 1040 @ 4.8Ghz across all cores locked with 1.10 volts (which i think - if i am understanding this correct is really good)

To change the cache ratio with ThrottleStop you have to move the radio button, then move the slider down at the bottom. With the radio button on "CPU Cache" it will give you the access to that and cache voltage. If you increase the cache ratio, set the voltage the same at the CPU core to start with. You may be able to go lower, but the process is the same as finding the ideal core voltage. Test, lower voltage, test, lower voltage, crash, raise voltage. Cinebench is the best way to test to find voltage sweet spot.
