Yeah, Win8 is running great, power consumption is surprisingly higher for me but USB3 is totally screwed. Only USB2 mode is working.....><

Hello NBR,
I've read through every post now and I just got my laptop from Derek @xoticpc. First thing I did was flash the prema bios, the ME, then installed corresponding ME drivers. I update nVidia drivers and then installed batterbar. I also disabled hyperthreading as someone suggested.
I'm getting a draw of about 13-15mW and I was wondering if that's kind of high?
Do you guy have any suggestions? -
depends on activity and equipment

Everything is running at minimum (WiFi off, minimum brightnes). Even with hyperthreading disabled in idle I get around 12mW draw. -
If this is seen through batterybar, it seems a bit high.
Mine is currently on performance, browsing @max brightness and playing a video, between 13 & 15W reported.
With min brightness on power saving, between 9 & 10W.
That is still with stock bios, but with an i5 2410. -
Have you turned off the camera and microphone?
What type of ram is that exactly? Both myself and HTwingnut are running low power ram that runs at 1.35V or less for lower power consumption. In my case that is what Mythlogic installs as its default ram.
You need to monitor the CPU with throttle stop to see if it is going to deep c-states to save power properly at idle. If it isn't there are rogue processes that are using 1 or 2% cpu that are keeping the cores from idleing to save power. You need to ID them and either turn them off or confine them all to one core so that the others can idle. -
From what I have seen also the combination of iGPU & dGPU driver play a big role in power consumption.
Like when I updated to the latest HD4000 drivers a few days back, suddenly the power consumption went up from 9W to 12-15W. -
Prema Mod v1.0 for the W350ETx/NP6350 & W370ET/NP6370 is now available on the blog.
ENJOY!
-
Is it already possible to circumvent the blocking of cpu turbo boost, while using the nvidia graphics card via optimus? -
Throttlestop is still your best bet to run the CPU in Turbo during dGPU use.
-
Hi Prema,
again I am just here to say thank you. I am at University now and my W110 actually runs up to 6 hours running Office in Power Saving mode. Your Mods and ME-updates really made this little gaming machine way more productive. -
-
Hi,
I have just recived my w110er from Scan and as all good geeks have set about overclocking it
After hitting my limit using the stock bios and graphics clocks of 1100 gpu/1000 vram i was slightly disheartened so flashed PREMA v1.4 & INTEL ME 8.1.10.1286 on and am now happy to say she is upto a fairly tasty 1255 GPU & 1050vram stable @ 2890 3dmark 11
At this point i will say Err Nice work PREMA your rom should come as standard on all these Laptops!!!
Now most would be happy with that but i can't help be feel that i have just hit a voltage limit and not a chip one and as 3k is so close was wondering if it was possible to modify the rom to give a little bit more overhead ?
Just a thought but would be fairly epic to pass that line.
Cheers -
You asked for it, make good use of FN+1 and don't blame me if you fry anything.
W110ER/NP6110 Prema Mod v1.4 OV EDITION added
Changelog:
- GT650M overvolted (950Mhz+ @ 1.15v)
- 60c voltage throttle removed
(credit: Saltius & SVL7)
HAPPY BENCHING! -
Try this one tomorrow i think.
Do you tell me what 60c means ? I have understood that the power supply give 1.1v (or a little less) under 60° , and a bite more than 1.0v after 60° , but i'm not sure. Can you help me ?
You've benched with 1.15v ? little more ? at what time do you considered that the gpu temp is too hight ? 100°C approximalty for me , and you ? -
The regular BIOS reduces the voltage when the gpu reaches 60c. Which is utter nonsense as the fan only spins higher above that temperature.
When the voltage is reduced a high OC crashes.
The OV BIOS doesn't reduce the voltage at 60c and bumps the voltage from 1.1v to 1.15v only on 950Mhz+ (Turbo Boost)
On my highest OC my gpu temps never exceeded 75c...but in general temps above 90c should be avoided over a longer period.
ENJOY EVERYONE! -
I found that the laptop initially throttles the gpu once it reaches +90c, so I would say one wants to stay below that line.. -
My GPU rarely exceeds 75C using the UV mod at least, and even with the OV mod it usually stays under 85C, typically around 80C. No cooler, just prop up the back end.

Prema mod 1.4v OV for W150ER ?
-
Wow that was a quick turn aound
so think it is only right i post my results from testing equaly as fast
Well SIR your OV bios has got me past the previous clock lock by a fair bit:
OEM bios STD Clocks:
GPU: 835
VRAM: 900
3Dmark: 2300
OEM bios:
GPU: 1100
VRAM: 1000
3Dmark: 2550
PREMA 1.4 STD
GPU: 1255
VRAM: 1050
3Dmark: 2890
PREMA 1.4 OV
GPU: 1315
VRAM: 1050
3Dmark: 3030
Note No screen ripping or Artifacts at this stage so there may be more to come but i need to rebuild on to a SSD before i push higher.
So in total 730 points on 3Dmark with no cooler mods and an ambiant temp of 20C
Or Roughly a 40% increase for nothing bar a donation"coming your way"
You definatly put the P In Epic with this Mod
cheers

for usb3 on win8 you need to install the drivers using unsigned method
-
For me i bought the W110ER with I3 , no o/c : 2050 in 3DMark11
Now with 3840QM and 1.4 Ov bios : 3132 in 3DMARK11
rockStable in game with 1320mhz on core and 1100 mhz on memory ( approx 3100 on 3Dmark11) , more than a GTX670M , and 50% more FPS than the GT650m a stock clock : amazing for a 11,6" inch. Some games were not playable with the stock frequency , now approx 30FPS !
Temps during powersupply stress test of occt ( harder than furmark+ prime) : cpu : 90°C ; gpu : 88°C after an hour. Fan is not to the maximum at that temps. -
Damn, that's a solid improvement!
I've yet to get 3D Mark11 to run (functionally) on Win8, so hopefully I get everything figured out soon, including my OC's. -
Win8 gave me a lower score than Win 7 , have to be checked with the new nvidia drivers (310.**) In game , it's the same things (+/- 10% lower than win7)
-
I can't believe we're still on beta drivers +6months after release !
-
-
execute : bcdedit /set nointegritychecks ON
reboot
install the driver
execute : bcdedit /set nointegritychecks OFF
reboot
OR
Sign the driver with DSEO as a test driver by going on the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" mode of win8.
It works -
-
With this one ? Serv-U - Error Occurred

Compare the speed with a USB 2.0 port with the same transfer. if this is the same speed , so try a windows update.
IF it doesn't work , ttry this : http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con..._Controller_Driver.zip&lang=eng&Dwnldid=21129 -
Hi there Prema, wow ur 1.4 bios mod looks great. are there plans to release it for my w150er as well perhaps>? would be amazing
50% more fps then stock on a gt650 :O great
-
I have a:
i7-3632QM "35W"
so i am happy with the score and the power usageit is also within the manufacturing spec
with the new vertex 4 i put in last night i now have boot to use sub 10 seconds so am very happy to say the least
Odd question Any one know the ppl generator on these ?

If you could run some benchmarks on it I'd be grateful, want to see how fast it can go. Also +rep.
-
Prema, thanks for the great bios, a lot.
Would it be possible to modify the fan table though? My system runs quite low, temp wise: the GPU barely breaks 50C under load and yet the fan roars along. Playing the same game with the HD4000 results in near silent operation: the GPU seems to be the culprit. I'm running a 3632QM CPU and plan on using the 660M for GPGPU, but I don't want it roaring away in the library. I guess this would require an ACPI table modification? -
It sits with no fan at all till it gets fairly hot then jumps up to like 40% for a few moments to cool it then off again and the repeats, i cant see the point of that type of configuration at all. -
All new Prema Mod 2.0 will be based on the new Win8 BIOS is going to have Clevos new fan tables for all models...NO ETA, but I am on it for you guys...have some real life stuff that requires my attention...
-
Hello Prema!, that is great news man! and im not in a hurry here at all! some things in life are way more important then computers ofc.
-
Fan tables... drool. THANK YOU!
-
cool stuff indeed those prema mods. i just donated him 10 euro hehe not much i know but better that then nothing
keep it up Prema
-
-
everything I've came across on websites has been outdated and what does work seems near impossible to understand... I'd think interpreting assembly is easier.

Updated Intel Management Engine Driver v8.1.10.1286 now on the blog
This is to match driver with current ME firmware.
EDIT: nvm -
Thanx Prema i downloaded it and will install it .nice map of blog users by the way
im from holland, i see there are more ppl from here using ur mod
( or it was just me obsessivly checking ur blog to see if there was a new version lol)
hehe just saw the NVM what was that for? the previous driver was the same? -
Does the new ME firmware impact noticeably the power consumption or it is more Nvidia drivers dependant ?
