    My W110 (should) be here today so red carpet and dancing dogs ready for UPS driver. Wife nixed the dancing girls.

    Question please, What version and what install order, UV bios and IME, do you guys suggest? I'm doing fast scans on the posts so missed a lot. I think I read that the latests IME may have increased idle temps?

    TIA

    You update the BIOS and then the IME then install the matching driver.

    I haven't noticed a idle temp decrease myself but I do see 1-2w lower idle power draws from batterybar.

    My temps are like 4-6C lower since disabling HyperThreading and hasn't hit max fan speed or CPU usage(unless it's deliberate) since XD. Voltage on cores seem to be .010v or more lower on average and 1w lower power consumption.

    Yes, this would be awesome, even lower temps :)! But Prema has not mentioned it and I remember a comment about it being harder to implement than for the W110ER.

    It turns out Mediafire are a bunch of.....changing download policies without prior notice, limiting rar files to 10 downloads a week and then simply delete your files when you complain...guess we stay away from them and they better stick with pirates as their customer base... :mad:

    What new file hoster do you guys want to see for the PremaMod? :)

    :rolleyes:

    4shared requires useres to create an account to download files so I am moving the files to rapidshare now...may take a while as we are shifting homes and I am doing it via a mobile connection... :eek:

    BTW:

    P170HM 3 + GTX680M/K5000M + internal 120Hz LCD = working :wink:

    Internal 3DVISION = not yet... :GEEK:

    It was the system BIOS after all (not the vBIOS) that required a little love (in the form of 3 sleepless nights :p)......no ETA though, but it will come...get ready to push the donate button to fill up the coffe mug...LOL :D

    Why would you disable C1E state? and you can disable C1E via Throttlestop.

    Because it constantly throttles my cpu and voltage down to save power, and I have no need for that. I want my cpu speeds constant.

    Throttlestop is currently what I'm using, but I'd like to have a bios option rather than having to use software.

    Hehe, finally my W110ER arrived today...

    Been testing RAM now extensively testing HDD, and will probably let memtest all night for more accuracy...

    I still haven't got anything installed, and will be into testing till tomorrow (have to wake up 6am :mad:).

    I checked bios, it has 1.003 version.

    Prema
    , which BIOS, and which Intel ME firmware + it's best matched drivers could you recomend?

    It must have maximum stability, maximum performance and maximum battery saving.

    Also which drivers would you recommend:

    1- The ones on the CD;
    or
    2- Install the drivers on the CD, but then download latest drivers from Clevo website and update all drivers with the new downloaded ones.
    or
    3- Skip CD and download + install latest drivers from Clevo Website;
    or
    4- Skip all the other lines. Download each driver from each hardware manufacturer website for the most updated drivers possible (I usually do this with my other laptop\PC).

    ps: Later I will surely donate something, though I can't give much :(.
    Thank you!

    I really hate how they manufacture everything now so you have no control over your own machine.

    Maximum battery saving = PM1.4UV (very few systems expirience issues with the UV)
    Maximum Performance= PM1.4 (if you plan to OC it goes higher on GT650M)

    I am just testing an updated ME, should be online tomorrow...

    That if you have the time! ;)

    All working options C3, C6, C7 are already exposed in the PremaMod...the multiplier option has no effect at all, so I left it disabled... :)

    Hey Prema,

    Any chance of taking a look into the W150er BIOS and see as to whether or not you're able to enable EFI?

    This is slowly becoming more and more of a pain in my . Trying to convert to a GPT partition table and EFI bootloader just shouldn't be this difficult. The one EFI option in the BIOS on the boot section is just non functioning. Windows 7/8 and Linux just won't boot EFI. However, somehow, I was able to get OSX installed, although I couldn't get it beyond the boot screen, but at least it would run the EFI bootloader.

    Sager/Clevo support aren't much help either. Two guys I spoke to didn't know what EFI was, and the tech support just told me I had the current version and kept negating as to why EFI won't function.

    Any way to lower the alarm volume when power is running off ?
    It's so loud and often arrives late at bed. I assume it's bios related, but the mute shortcut does shut it off, so maybe it's clevo control center, I'll test while disabling it.

    There's a powerbioslauncher service associated with that control center, do you know what it does ?
    I wonder if it's only to switch windows power scheme's settings, or if it actually really adds something over default options.

    I had windows and everything fully installed... and don't know why, but the windows was so lagged...

    Made a "HD tune pro test", and the speed of the HDD had lot of breakdowns to like 2MB\s. Does anyone know anything about this problem?

    I have flashed Prema v 1.04 bios and his latest ME before this last one and it's respective driver...

    HDD is WD Scorpio Black 500GB. Extensive Scan = no errors.

    I dont have any other SATA to test (only have another that is in my other laptop and I won't format).

    If you also used latest Bios from prema and the ME firmware, plz try HD tune pro and tell ur HDD results here (dont wanna know for the SSD)...

    ps: I'm making a Complete LOW FORMAT for like 2 hours already, and will install windows 7 again. I hope the problem disappear this time (tired of HDD's).

    Yes, i did installed the RST.

    But the first time I installed windows, was already with your custom bios and the latest ME firmware before the last one you uploaded :cool:. So I can't tell if the bios\ME also would have anything to do with it.

    It may be the hdd that isn't in best conditions, who know...

    BTW. doesn't Nvidia GPU shutdown while just surfing the net. According to GPU-Z, the gpu although not being used, it's ON mostly at 835mhz/900mhz and at 57Cº. Shouldn't the GPU go completely OFF?

    ps: I have latest intel graphic card drivers, and also latest nvidia beta driver...

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Prema, I want to flash my W110ER with the latest ME, but isn't there a matching driver for it?

    From your site:

    -> Latest Intel Management Engine (8.1.10.12 86)
    -> Intel Management Engine Driver (8.1.10.12 75)

    The last one you uploaded before this one, had a matching version number. I will wait until you could upload the matching one before I flash to the new one.

    The NVIDIA beta driver doesn't throttle down properly...
    That ME driver is working perfectly together with the latest ME, very low power consumption...

    Prema,

    Looking at the first post, you've added the ability to enable VT-d. I'm curious how this works since this feature requires a QM or QS chipset. My guess is that this feature exists in bios but is only exposed on laptops with hardware support (such as the w130ev).

    Also, do you think it would be possible to replace the module responsible for CPU throttling our w150/w170/w350/w370 models when using the dedicated GPU with the equivalent module from a P150/P170 bios? Just an idea...

    Of course VT-d only works with supported chips...the disabled turbo is there for a good reason, the cooling system simply isn't sufficient in all environment/CPU combinations, so enabling it in general wouldn't be a good solution.
    If your system can handle it, then using throttlestop is a good solution imho.

    Ah, OK: I figured as much. I saw people posting about VT-d on the w150/170 as if they had it enabled when in fact they were only looking at the CPUZ flags. I was hoping that somehow ark was mistaken or misleading (I use a workstation with VT-d for OSX/NIX/W7 development).

    Would it be possible (not necessarily asking you to do, just wondering if it is worth pursuing myself) to re-purpose one of the unused bios options to enable/disable throttling? I guess that would depend on whether such a configuration option can be exposed in the p150/170 module?

    Sorry that's neither an option in the menu nor a module, it's in the acpi code...throttlestop is a good solution to enable turbo while gaming etc.

    On a side note Clevo is pushing updated BIOS for all models to better support Win8...I have very little time atm, but I am on it for you guys...just please don't ask me when... ;)

    Maybe it will fix the USB 3 issues with this laptop. So far, Windows 8 has been running amazingly. I use your latest BIOS as well..
