Hello. I have a Clevo W150ERM and I'm wondering, how safe is it to update my BIOS? Will I have to update to the latest stock before I do this? Is it possible to completely screw up my PC by doing this?

You can update the bios. Only do it when trying to solve a specific issue as if it does go wrong it can brick the system.

May be you can make simple BIOS for us W740SU for Mac OS support?

    Non Windows 8 mode?
CPU PM patch, MSR 0xE2 lock removal?
    AES NI unlock?

The new Mods have re-introduced bug for a NON UEFI LAN PXE boot scenario, which I thought I had fixed.
Will have a fixed version up by tonight.
The new version will keep the v2 revision, but instead show 27 Feb 2014 as date in CPU-Z etc...

Sorry and thanks for your patience! :hi2:

EDIT: All versions fixed and online!

    ENJOY! :)

I've had this bios installed on my p150em with a 3720qm or a while now and it's great, no issues whatsoever, however I want to do some benchmarking with my machine and was looking at keeping the turbo on the cpu run for longer, at default it runs on turbo or 30 seconds but it it safe to make it run for 120 seconds?

The CPU will always throttle once either:

    - "Turbo Time" is reached
    - "TDP" limit is reached
    - Thermal Limit is reached

In the P-EM Mod we altered the "Turbo Time" and you have the option to alter the "TDP" manually in XTU.
But it'' always throttle back once it's getting too hot. So yeah it is safe either way.

Well I know my cpu never exceeds its TDP and thermal limits so I don't think upping the turbo time should be an issue, thanks

I just uploaded a new version of the P1xxSM Mods with a little tweak that let's you get rid of the stock BIOS 'BUG' that keeps the dGPU FAN spinning even after it is no longer in use. (Totally spaced it the first round) :D

Set the option under "Advanced" > "Switchable Graphics" > "PX 5.0 Mode" to "BACO"

As completion: Prema stated in the mySN thread, that his new BIOS also helps if the dGPU Fan is spinnig up although the dGPU ist deactivated.

I would love to have a tweaked fan profile for the w110er. aka, keep the fan on the lowest setting instead of off when the temps are below 60c (or 65c whatever it is I hate when the fan turns totally off). I'll vote ;)

Has anybody here succeeded in downgrading the W110ER's BIOS from v3 to v1.5 ?

Are there any fundamental differences in the flashing methods of these 2 versions that would make downgrading unsafe?

Yeah that's normal after an EC flash.

No problem just use my update packages. If you flash only EC or BIOS it bricks during this downgrade.
    V1.5 has RAM overclocking, v3 doesn't...psst v4 will have it again. ;)

Hey, PremaBro, hope you're having a great holiday
I wanted to ask you, ever have any look at dell uefi bios'es?
After all the hubbub that the m6600 can't be unlocked because it's uefi or because nobody managed to extract the rom, I ran a little python and extracted the HDR file from dell's latest bios exe file, and I can view it inside MMtool. So much for that gigantic effort.
Thing is I have no idea what to change to unlock cool settings :D
    Any suggestions?

We have dumped and rewritten the M6700 BIOS Chips directly with a chip-programmer, but they use a custom BIOS layout layer that doesn't play nice with altering it...

    @Prema

I own a Terra Mobile 1341 Pro which is a Clevo W130EW Barebone.

I want to use mSATA in the 3G slot. The service manual says the wires are connected. But I cannot setup this SATA-port in the Bios. Also other wifi cards are not recognized in this 3G port. Is there anything what I (or you :) ) can do? Is there a whitelisting in the Bios?

    regards

    edit:
I edited the BIOS file with AMIBCP v4.53.

I enabeld under Setup Configuration/Main/"nothing stands here" the sata 2 Port and set it to hotplug. SATA Port 2 is the one which is connected the 3G slot ( as I read in the Service Manual).

I have done the same under Setup Configuration/Advanced/SATA Configuration.

Have I to change some other things to get it working? how can i get my bios alive if something goes wrong?

    regards

There is no BIOS switch that will magically enable mSATA if the system doesn't recognize it.
Also Clevo's service manuals have never really matched the final board layout...so don't believe everything it says. (SATA port 2 will be the eSATA instead)
Sometimes entire chips described therein are not even present on the actual board. :p

SATA Port0 is the Hard Disk and Port 1 is eSata, in the bios, service manual and in reallity. Sata Port 5 is for Docking Station hard disk, also in all cases. Thats why I believe i can activate the sata port.

will it destroy my bios chip if i flash the modded bios? What i have to do if something goes wrong?

    thanks for your answer!

    edit:
I tried to flash, and the flash worked. But in the settings nothing has changed. I just have a new boot logo.
any suggestions what to change else with AMIBCP?

    edit2:
Windows now shows the sata 2 port. but not in bios. and nothing happens if i put the msata card in, whether in windows than before booting.

    Hi Prema

If you make a BIOS mod for W740SU, would it be possible to disable the throttling on battery? Right now whenever it's unplugged it throttles the CPU to 1.2 GHz (from 2 GHz), disables turbo, and throttles the GPU from 1300 MHz to 200 MHz. The GPU throttling in particular is atrocious.

If it doesn't detect mSATA now then the BIOS won't change it. There are different board revisions, most models don't have the SATA lanes connected.

I travel a lot all over the world, so वैकुंठ is in me. :)

I see you are in Boulder, have a very good friend there...

The Mod will have an option to disable "EIST" which in return should get rid of that, too. :)

There's no way to disable it without disabling EIST? There's no reason for the CPU to run at 2 GHz 24/7 when on battery, SpeedStep is nice, it just throttles too hard when on battery :(.

It won't run on a constant speed without EIST... :D
