Yeah, I forgot to align it for the P6 versions (its proper on the MXM editions)...

Will fix it in the next version but ideally want to include undervolting too, which requires time for testing...need to finish some other work first...

Does anyone know if I can update my Sager 7330 to the latest Prema v2 dispite the BIOS I'm today ?

Do I need to update my EC first ? How does this work ?

    Thanks

Current version doesn't matter on that system you can directly flash the mod.

    ENJOY! :)

I've been having great issues with getting my 2x8GB Kingston DDR3L to run at 2133MHz (standard 2T) in my P670SG.
I read that the mobile CPU's are more sensitive so I might just have a dud, but I'm hoping for a golden tip here.

I get spontaneous reboots after about 30 minutes of churning away at movie conversion.
When I run the RAM at 1600MHz it keeps running all night long no problem.
I tried upping the latencies by 1, no effect, still crashes.

I'll run a memtest+ tonight to be sure the sticks are fine, but the memtest+ gives weird indications, not 2133 at all, might be a modded bios thing.

Any thoughts? Any updates perhaps for more stable 2133MHz ops?

how about upping the CL further? ;) go as far as u can and only then up the frequency to 2133 mhz. if its still not stable then its most probably ur IMC not being up to the task...

Running memtest+ overnight gave an error after 5 hours. Not a big red memory error, but a system error, so the memory is just fine.
I personally don't see the logic why substantially higher latencies would fix a system fault. Latencies control the memory output and that seems to be fine, it's the system that chokes on the high speed.
Going for 1866 overnight (well, day) and see what that does.

The first instance of me not liking the CPU is soldered on...

its can potentially be both the IMC and/or the memory sticks. this way u can precisely determine which of the two is at fault :) in your case it really seems to be the CPU IMC...

    Hey Prema

Just updated my W230SS QHD to version 1.1 of your bios mod for this notebook.

Just thought I would let you know that the screen did not display anything after the auto shutdown. It was only once I connected an external VGA display that I was able to access the bios and change the settings to UEFI and upon reboot it used the notebooks display. As far as I am aware I followed your instructions to the letter but I wouldn't rule out user error. Has this happened before?

I feel I dodged a bullet by having an external display, not everyone will do.

Many thanks for the BIOS regardless, now I have to learn what the options do.

    Hi Prema :)
We are all indebted to you for your work, no doubt !
I see that your vBios for the mxm's (980m) include the P15xSM series. My concern is: I want to install an 8GB 880m or 980m, but I'm not quite sure how to proceed. As you can see I am upgrading the p157sm( np8250).
What I am not sure about is the specific procedure and the combination of BIOS & vBIOS.... For the 880m, what is the combo + procedure ? Similarly for the 980m, combo + procedure ? I have used your mods before for BIOS, but with the risk of bricking my laptop I would like to be sure.
Also, what would be my best bet ? 880 vs 980 ? I see the 980m's price seems quite inflated this early. would you agree ?
Finally, I would absolutely like to donate to you for your troubles but I would also like to be able to get my setup right :)

Prema does great work, just had to say that. Enjoy your travels. I'd donate again but fixing my machine left me with 70 in my account and I have to pay 400 next month for Comcast because I couldn't do it this month.

can anyone share a modded / tweaked bios for a gtx 860m for w230ss laptop?
i see lots of posts about them but no links.

also tried to over clock with nvidia inspector but the clocks read as 0 mhz and won't let me adjust anything, what am i missing?

Go back to older 344.75 driver Version which is the last with OC functions. The Nvidia VBios is part of the system BIOS. So its already included in the mod.

well, all power throttling is removed in the vbios mod for the mxm cards. same goes for the soldered model´s system bios, if i remember correctly :)

Can you over clock CAS 9 RAM from 1600Mhz to 1866Mhz on an XMG P505 without using the Prema Bios mod? That's the only thing I want to OC initially.

if intel xtu supports RAM OCing on that machine then u wont need prema bios. just make sure the sticks can run at that speed! best to loosen up the timings first, say to CL11 and only then overclock to 1866 Mhz. once u got that confirmed stable (prime95 custom blend with 95-98% RAM coverage for 20 min.), u can try and lower the timings again one by one.

I'll likely be using Crucial Ballistix Cas 9 1600Mhz RAM (although Kingston HyperX Cas 10 1866Mhz is also an option, albeit more expensive...), if that makes an difference.

CPU will be an i7 4720

as with any other components, ull be playing the silicon lottery, so ull have to just check if ur sticks and the cpu´s integrated memory controller (IMC) can handle higher speeds :)

Figured I would ask here. I have a Clevo p770ZM with a 980m. I've tried both 344.75 and 344.60 and both don't allow me to overclock. I've fresh installed Windows to 344.75 and then DDU'd to 344.60.

Considering I have a clevo 8GB 980m, should I try to update my vBios to Prema's?

And just so I'm clear, these are the steps I need update the vBios
    1. Backup vBios with GPUz
    2. DDU in safe mode
    3. run the ModMe.bat from here: https://biosmods.wordpress.com/mxm-vbios/
    4. restart
    5. install 344.75
    ?

Have you also tried EVGA Precision X? I use this software to OC my 970M.. As for drivers, for god's sakes do a DDU + CC Cleaner registry wipse, fresh download of driver and you should be fine..

AFAIK the latest Bios and EC my 970M P505 (a rebranded Clevo P651SE) has is these:

    XMG_P505_GTX970_BIOS_1.03.02TTR (Hinzugefügt: 18.11.2014 09:18:24)
    XMG_P505_GTX970_EC_1.03.06AP (Hinzugefügt: 06.02.2015 09:44:26)

Will the latest Premabod Bios and vBios work with this, or do I need to wait for the next Prema Mod update?

The latest Prema BIOS release for the P650SE is dated January 3rd, 2015 (i.e. before the latest EC update)

I'm curious if you will have a fix for the black screen at boot Prema when using your vbios on the P377SM-A. When I go into the BIOS, it says the card is unknown. Maybe we need a new version of the BIOS? I noticed you have 37_37 up but the BIOS is 32_33. It's hard to get into the BIOS at times.

Also is there a risk of a softbrick like the 880M with svl7 vbios when in hybrid BIOS/UEFI mode given that the BIOS doesn't recognize the card?

    Thanks as always :)

I am using your vbios for the unlocked P375SM bios and Svl7 for gtx 780M bios
I have two 330 watt clevo adapter
but my gpu and cpu still throttle badly
    i can't get more than 16.5 3D mark 11 graphic score regardless the clock/voltage/power target/memory overclocking i applied
seems like the gtx 780M throttle :( :(
    please helpppp :( :(

What drivers are you using? Do a clean install of the drivers.. Uninstall all Intel and NVIDIA drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller, install the Intel drivers and restart and then install NVIDIA 347.52 or 347.71 drivers and restart... In NVIDIA control pannel, set GPU performance mode to max performance...

Okay, I've now installed the Prema Mod Bios and I found where to change the memory speed in Bios, and have now got it running (and stable) at 2133Mhz:

The setting "Memory Frequency Limiter" is where I set this in the Bios (the screenshot is before I applied the change, which is why it says the current frequncy is 1867Mhz):

What I can't figure out is how to change the timings - the default timings for Corsair Vengeance 2133Mhz DDR3L are meant to be 11/11/11/27 not 11/11/11/31 (see: http://www.ramexperts.com/ddr3/cors...-pin-ddr3l-so-dimm-2133mhz-laptop-memory.html), but the Bios doesn't let me change these, nor to tweak the speed a little more than 2133Mhz only in larger steps e.g.to 2400Mhz - does anyone know how to do this? I know jaybee83 has done this! I thought this might be done in Intel's XTU application, but I can see where any RAM timings can be changed in this.

Can't seem to tweak to speed to small amounts more than 2133Mhz, though, only to 2400Mhz, which I don't want to risk. Is there any other way to tweak the RAM speed apart from in the Prema Bios

You can use Intel XTU to tweak ram too.

I can't see anywhere in XTU where you can alter RAM settings - where do I need to look?
