    Dear Prema a few days ago i decided to install your custom BIOS on mi new xmg P304 (w230ss) and ever since i am having some problems about overheating temp and some BSOD while i am working. With the original bios it was working fine. I puted your bios to try to disable de turbo boost from the bios to get the laptop work less hotter but it did not work as I espected.

    I did not made any backup of my default bios is there any posibylity of make a bios update with the original bios? Am I gonna have any problem with the Nvidia gpu.? Thanks a lot for your time.

    Yes you can roll back, though it should not impact temperatures. You can just use xtu to reduce the tdp to have the impact you were looking for.

    I am using XTU to reduce de clock speed of the cores because when i disable the turbo boost, the cpu always stays at 2.5ghz on idle too.So i think that its not so good at all. However next week i will make a new windows 8 installation because the current one i made it a moth ago with the original BIOS so maybe that i am getting some issues. If after that i am still getting problems i will back to the original bios.

    You can adjust the turbo speeds though, along with voltage, you should be able to find a match for your system.

    dGPU - ASPM doesn't work on my W230SS, when enabled the laptop fails to shutdown fully, the screen goes off and the fan spins down but the keyboard and power buttons stay lit.

    that's the only issue i've found right now.

    i have problems with this setting too - Windows 8.1 boots up but freezes about 10 seconds after Userlogon. (Maybe when NVIDIA Controlcenter / driver gets loaded).

    It is dependent on other things, to reduce power consumption try this:

    Advanced -> ACPI Settings -> ACPI Auto Configuration -> Ena

    Advanced -> CPU Configuration -> HT -> Ena
    Active Processor Cores -> All
    Execute Disable Bit -> Ena
    Intel VT -> Ena
    Boot Performance Mode -> Max Battery
    EIST -> Ena
    Turbo Mode -> Ena
    Energy Performance -> Energy Effiecent
    CPU C States (and following until CFG Lock) -> Ena
    C6 Latency -> Long
    C7 Latency -> Long
    Package C State Limt -> Auto
    ACPI T State -> Dis

    Platform Misc Conf. -> Native PCIE -> Ena
    Native ASPM -> Dis
    PTID -> Ena
    PECI Acces -> ACPI
    ACPI 5.0 -> both Ena

    Chipset -> PCIe & Audio -> PCI Express -> DMI Link ASPM -> Ena
    Chipset -> PCIe & Audio -> PCI Express -> (All) PCI Express Root -> ASPM -> Auto
    L1 Substates -> L 1.1 % L1.2
    PCIe Speed Auto -> Auto

    Chipset -> Graphics & Memory -> DMI -> DMI Link ASPM -> L0sL1
    Chipset -> Graphics & Memory -> DGPU -> DGPU -> Auto
    DGPU ASPM -> L0SL1
    ASPM L0S -> Both

    After all is set -> save and restart -> after about 3 seconds the notebook is shutting down -> remove the power supply > wait 20 seconds then re-connect AC Power and reboot. :)

    nope, still hangs after the screen goes off.

    must be something up with the dGPU - ASPM option as setting it to disabled results in a correct shutdown. guess i'll just have to leave it off for now.

    hello,

    I need to return the laptop under warranty ... I would put the original bios ... can I just flash the bios with the last version on the site (mysn.de)?

    Thank you in advance

    You would need to unpack the bios, take the vbios out, edit it and then repackage it and flash it.

    I believe Prema said that's a secure BIOS and would require a unique custom BIOS for each machine so he hasn't bothered with it.

    He said something about needing to make a tool to create the mod on each individual machine so he never pursued it any further. I guess my assumption was it was a more secure bios.

    The BIOS on y50 can only be forced flashed in its entirety. We have to write a tool to dump, automatically mod and rewrite the BIOS on each system.
    As sensitive areas that differ on each unit are also written, we can not just use one dump for everyone or they all end up with the same MAC address, warranty seriel number etc...

    Then if the original BIOS is a different version then this tool was made for it may very well kill the board as wrong modules are exchanged.
    So the last time I did this was on an EOL MSI that receives no more BIOS updates and thus everyone has just to update to latest stock and is safe to use the tool.

    With a system that still receives updates you will have to force some to downgrade, which isn't safe, or keep updating the Mod and hope that people follow the read me to the dot or end up with FUBAR systems.

    All that combined with the experience that 99.9% of all mod user make a "hit and run" without bothering to sent over a few coffees, well let's just say it doesn't push it far up my to do list atm... ;)

    EDIT: If someone is really serious about his Y50 GTX860M Mod and willing to make it "worth my time", then I can offer to Mod these manually on a case to case basis for the individual systems. PM me :)

    EDIT2: I am not around here too much as I am sitting on 3 broken dev-systems that require my attention before anything else can happen...so you can also use the contact form on the blog (link in signature)

    Oh, I thought that the PREMA Mod was going to be an "universal MOD" at some point, because I heard that MSI's laptops were modded, that was the reason I didn't get myself a CLEVO but instead I went for an ACER V NITRO.
    Anyway, does the Mod increases the performance just by itself or it unlocks the overclocking capability? I'm asking this because there's a CLEVO store here that sells Maxwell laptops with the PREMA mod and they claim that the BIOS (mod) by itself increases the performance, by a lot apparently, more than Stock+Overclock. If that's the case then it's worth it xD.

    I want to put a SLN2 IPS panel on my Clevo w110er and I have read a few times that you should have the V3 Prema Bios Due to panel firmware compatibility with the updated GPU VBios. I bought it used and it has the V1.5 UOV Prema bios on it. After looking at the Prema flashing guide a couple things confuse me.

    The read me files in the v3 prema UV and UOV w110er zip files are empty?

    When it says unplug the PSU for 30s does that include the battery also?

    What settings in rufus do I use to create the bootable USB ms dos fat 32 fash drive?

    When it says turn off the computer do you let it boot into windows and then turn it off? Or hold the power button to turn it off?

    Do I need the V3 Bios for the firmware for the SLN2 IPS Panel?

    Yes remove the battery too.

    Once the flash has finished you can restart as normal.

    I would guess from what you said that you would want it.

    K thanks what about the read me file. Its empty. The guide specifically says read the read me file. I beleave I found the right settings for the dos fat 32 boot usb so im good there also.

    One more question do I need I upgrade the intel management engine firmware with the bios? Or is it included in the bios update?

    I just noticed something all the files when extracted are 0 bytes that's why the read me file is empty. I tried 7zip and two other programs it does the same thing.

    Found it using the wrong password for the rar file.

    Hi.

    Nice thread and work !
    I'm impressed by and these things.

    I saw the thread about 860m overclock and vCore.
    But I'm sad, I have got an acer v nitro 591g... And I didn't find any thing about a bios mod.

    Do you think there will one perhaps ?

    Sorry I am sitting on broken systems and waiting for a replacement part from mySN / Schenker since over a month and they simply don't care...so no more mods until I am able to work again...

    EDIT: They finally shipped the part today! :)

    Could anybody make a post with an instruction how vbios can be extracted, moded and refursed with the system BIOS? I tried MMtool, but i could't find Vbios in system BIOS file for MSI ge60.

    Is vBios a "unlock" for the OC sliders? and what does the Bios change?

    thank you /Niclas

    Apart from having an unlocked overclocking vBIOS without throttle and with overvoltage you get A TON of extra options with the Mod BIOS:

    - Overclocking for iGPU, RAM & CPU
    - Controls to regulate CPU TDP, HT, Turbo etc
    - Options for OSX compatibility
    - Options for external GPU support
    - Enhanced SATA and USB control
    - UEFI support for OS other than Win8+
    - Latest RAID, iGPU, CPU codes, LAN modules and ME firmware
    - HDD/SSD password options
    - lots of other stuff

    There are simply too many changes to maintain a changelog, I let the Mods speak for themselves! :)

    Hey Prema, thank you very much for the BIOS mod :D
    A quick question, does this mod allow custom GPU fan control. I know the software includes this for the CPU fan but it'd be nice to control GPU fans as well.

    If you use an NVIDIA card below 880M (780M, 680M...) then you need to use the P570WM3 Mod in order to keep the internal 3D functionallity.

    If you have an 880M, 980M...etc... then use the P570WM Mod as those have no 3D support (yet)...

    Seeing the problems some people experience with the current unlocked Maxwell vBIOS, I decided to release this for the MXM cards after all!

    - Power throttle disabled for good
    - Over-voltage slider enabled (up to the maximum of 1.2v)
    - Activated thermal slider (to keep it cooler if desired)
    - Core overclock slider raise
    - Thermal protection is set to 87c (at this point it'll throttle in order to protect the system)

    This vBIOS uses stock clocks and voltage and has keeps the stock Turbo functionality intact unless, You decide to overclock/overvolt.
    It has been tested over the past 2 months and has proven to not cause any problems on the following CLEVO systems:

    P150EM
    P15xSM
    P15xSM-A
    P17xEM
    P17xSM
    P17xSM-A
    P370EM

    While it theoretically works for all 8GB / 6GB MXM versions on systems other companies, it is known to NOT fix the throttle issue on Alienware!

    Prema Mod vBIOS for CLEVO 8GB MXM version of GTX980M is now on the blog!

    (Use NVIDIA Inspector for OC/OV)

    ENJOY!

    EDIT: Will add 6GB CLEVO GTX970M MXM version later tonight! EDIT2: DONE, ENJOY! :)

    Hello Prema, my laptop com back warranty (a w230ss of Mysn.de).

    So I put your Bios but I noticed that the ME FW has moved from version 9.1.1.100 to 9.0.31.1487 and the Bios version 1.03.06 to 1.03.03pm v1.1

    it's a problem ?

    thanks for your help

    The lower Me is required to maintain BCLK overclockability (Clevo thought it was a good idea to update the ME Firmware without its BIOS counterpart, so that proper communication brakes)...v3 BIOS is also no problem...the BIOS Mod will be rebased to v6 soon, just need to catch up with other things first...

    Hey Prema. There's a bug in the 4GB 980M VBIOS concerning voltages; 1) they don't align with what you set in NVIDIA Inspector (e.g. +200mV in inspector actually equals 1.100V = +50mV) and 2) they frequently end up slightly higher or lower than your desired setting in NVIDIA Inspector (e.g. I've often set it to what I thought would be 1.1250V, but then find out it's actually ended up at either 1.1180V/1.1310V).

    Just thought I'd report that. Thanks for the great work you do for the community, as always!
