I have no clue, then. You may be out of luck and just have to live with your dedicated GPU being on all the time. I mean, it's not like it matters that much, just means that you won't have as good battery life as you could have had. -
And that drives me mad ;]
-
Does gtx 960m is available also? Thx in advance!
-
Does bios mod for gtx 960m in alienware 13 r2 is available? Thx in advance!

I apologize for the thread revival, I finally got around to installing this a few months ago and decided to give OCing my 860m SLi a try. Since I installed P377SM-A Prema Mod v2 bios Is there anything else I need to flash? I already have NvidiaInsepctor installed.
-
What's the real advantage of having the Prema BIOS mod if you're not planning on overclocking as of yet. I mean, I'm going for a Clevo with Prema and I've kinda opted for a NON-Dellided CPU. I was of a very tight budget and I had take up on any possibility of cutting corners. I hope it isn't a rash decision. So the only reason I'm not overclocking is because I'm afraid of doing it on a NON-Dellided CPU. Is it rational?
-
well you can do some power savings (ASPM pcie bus) or for example turn your Quad Core MQ/HQ CPU into an i5/7 u Series CPU (Block cores and configure TDP down) if battery life matters. . .

Hi, I have got an HP Laptop with an nVidia GT740M. I have a problem with the temperature limit as you can read in this post:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/...ow-temperature-exactly-67c-/?offset=2#5076153
I would like to flash a vBios without the temperature limit or better with an adjustable temperature limit. nVinspector sees that the temperature limit is set to 67°C and is unable to modify it. Do you know where can I get the vBios for my GPU? Thanks. -
Hey and welcome to the forum
But this thread isn't the correct/best place for your question. Maybe ask in the proper sub threads for your laptop brand. I think you need 5 posts before you can create your own thread.
Edit: I might think this is you(PippBauda)in the link. If not, sign up - join the T|I forum below and ask someone with the appropriate knowledge for help with your problem

No such thing available.. You should sell your laptop and get a Clevo lol

Thanks for the answer. I posted in this thread because google search pointed me here, some pages back (115 to be precise, that's the one I found with google search) Prema refers to "testing a 740m vBios" and so it seemed logic to me to ask if anyone knew where to get that.
That's not me, but I will surely follow your suggestion. Thanks again!Papusan likes this. -
I thought also about this, but it's the first time I hear about this brand and I know nothing about it. On their website I see there are a lot of models available, do you have any kind of suggestion? I'm not searching for high-end performance, my laptop (4th generation i7, 12GB DDR3 RAM, nVidia GT740M with 2GB DDR3, 1TB HDD) would be just fine for me if not stupidly limited...Papusan likes this.

Here we go
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/eurocom-tornado-f5-mini-monsterbook-review-thread.800796/ 15 inches with Fully socket hardware. Feel free to ask questions in the thread. +The owners lounge
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...f5-evoc-16l-g-1080-15-6-owners-lounge.797128/
If you rather want 17 inches (more costly). I advise you to look into Clevo P870DM2-3 or P870KM1 models. You will find them in one of the sub forums. Eg... http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...2-owners-lounge-the-phoenix-2-is-here.794530/
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...1-p870km1-g-owners-lounge-phoenix-3-0.800081/
PS. I only advise people to buy laptops with fully socket hardware
More power to the people!!
And only Clevo and MSI "Barbones" can offer this. Ps: Clevo is sold under different names!!Last edited: Feb 6, 2017Luke_Duckwalker and steberg like this. -
Thank you for the quick answer, but this laptop you suggested is way better (and way more expensive) than mine!
To give some numbers, I bought my laptop for 730€ in January 2014, so I value it around 400-500€ now. Then I can add 200-300€ to get a new one, and the base model of the Tornado F5W is at 1178€ (excluding VAT, and postage!). It's very out of reach for me, unfortunately.

I understand money can be a problem. See if you find a deal over a used laptop with "socket" hardware in the market place here in the forum or other places on the web. But don't buy any used laptops with soldered hardware. Not even a brand new one!! As you already have Gt740m and still wanted use it with better vbios, I expect a used machine with Gtx780m - 970m or Gtx980m can serve you if you find a ok deal. Give me a hint when you have found a used machine, new or you fixed the machine you already have. Good luck

A new machine with warranty (even if BGA) is a safer bet than a socketed 2nd hand machine

Ask @woodzstack and he will be able to ship you an F5 without those useless VAT and other robbery bullcrap. -
Hi guys, Hi Prema. I saw you're finnaly back on forums. I've tried to reach you on several forums last month without luck unfortunately
Well what I need is Prema BIOS for P870DM-G to support i7-7700k, I found somewhere you did it already
Please PM me for details, I'll be happy to support your hard work
P.S. I got also question for you other guys who might know. I'm running i7-6700k and while rendering in 3Ds max CPU temp goes to 97-98 °C, I repasted it and cleand vents few days ago. Idle temp is around 50-60. Could it be problem with Intels crappy IHS, bad cpu fan table in EC (I noticed that automatic fan control raise fan speed slowely while cpu temp goes very quick above 90) or it's maybe false reading?
P.P.S. nothing is overclocked
Thank you in advance -
Your heatsink is not making proper contact. Also try elevating the back of the laptop to allow for some breathing room.
If you are using sock paste then using a better thermal paste can help as well.
Also where'd you hear about the 7700k support for P870Dm-G? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes I would check the paste job and what the contact pattern looks like.

I have a Clevo P750DM2-G purchased from HIDevolution, which originally shipped with the V1 Prema BIOS. I configured the system for UEFI dual boot, separate drives, Win 10 / Gentoo Linux, and everything was working correctly.
When V2 of the Prema BIOS was available HIDevolution tech support installed it remotely, and during the BIOS update process the system rebooted, powered off for a few seconds, then booted directly into the BIOS settings screen. (Which I was told is the normal BIOS update process). After configuring the BIOS settings, and then exiting the BIOS setup, the system rebooted correctly to the first startup drive.
However, I've noticed now that whenever I reboot the system from Linux, instead of a normal reboot, the system will power off and then boot into the BIOS settings screen, like the BIOS update process. I can then exit the BIOS settings screen, and the system boots normally from there. When I reboot from Windows, it also reboots correctly.
I asked HIDevolution tech support if I could downgrade to the V1 BIOS to test to see if it's BIOS related, but they said that they don't have the V1 BIOS available. I also left a private message at Prema's site to see if I could get the V1 BIOS for testing from there, but so far no response.
Has anyone noticed this reboot - power off - boot to BIOS setting screen behavior, outside of the BIOS update process? If so, was it associated with a BIOS setting?
Thanks.. -
Sounds like Windows has created a duplicated UEFI bootloader which you would have to remove manually.
You can try to keep holding 'FN' and 'D' buttons while pressing the 'ON' button to reset the BIOS.jas likes this. -
Thanks @Prema for your prompt response. I shutdown my system and then held down the <FN> and <D> keys and then pressed the Power button. The Power button flickered and then the system powered off for a couple of seconds, and then powered on. I let go of the both buttons, and the system displayed the EVOC BIOS screen, and then booted to my primary drive correctly.
Unfortunately, this hasn't fixed this behavior. To be clear, when running Windows 10, reboot and shutdown, both boot the system correctly. The system will display the EVOC BIOS screen once, and then boot from my primary drive, (Grub bootloader for Linux or Win10). When running Linux and choosing shutdown the system also boots correctly.
However, when rebooting my system from Linux, the system will power off for a couple of seconds, and then power back on, display the EVOC BIOS screen, and then boot into the BIOS settings. If I exit either saving or discarding the settings, the system will reboot again, display the EVOC BIOS screen, and then boot correctly from my primary drive.
If I hold <F7> when the first EVOC BIOS screen is displayed, the system won't go into the BIOS settings, but will instead list the bootable drives on the system, and allow me to choose the boot device. If I select my primary drive, the system will boot the Grub bootloader correctly.
This is with BIOS:1.06.09EVOC v2, KBC/EC:1.06.05OC, OS Select - Win8+, UEFI Boot - Enabled, Launch CSM - Disabled, and Fastboot - Enabled. HIDevolution tech support suggested that I set the OS Select to Others, but when I do that, my system won't boot from either bootable internal NVME SSD drive, (first drive with Grub and Linux, and second drive with Win 10), and instead tries to PXE boot.
Any other suggestions are welcome. I'm also willing to try downgrading to the V1 BIOS, (if it's possible to downgrade), as I don't believe my system was behaving like this initially. Although you may be correct in that this may be a software misconfiguration. I'm reluctant to wipe both drives and reinstall, but if that's the only way to remove any duplicate UEFI bootloader, then I may need to do so.
Thanks again.. -
I just recently (few weeks) installed the prema mod bios in my system (system in sig) and it seemed like when I would restart that it was restarting twice it was strange then suddenly I couldn't boot into windows at all no matter what I tried. Windows was on a RAID drive C:\ so I had to turn off UEFI and reinstall windows 10 on a different drive and lost all my pictures and documents I had saved not sure what happened but I had never had any problems until after prema, now I have windows 10 reinstalled on the UEFI RAID drive C:\ and no problems yet except I had a hell of a time installing hotkey.
-
I really don't mean to sound like a dick here, but why didn't you ever backup your important things?
Especially with Raid in the mix as well. -
After every flash (stock or mod)
Bios settings like OS, UEFI and RAID have to manually be set to the same settings used before the flash or the OS can simply mess up itself.Last edited: Jun 22, 2017 -
first time using raid and never had any problems, that I couldn't fix and at that time I didn't have the space to back up everything....plus I don't even know a proper way of backing up windows, Windows 10 comes with a backup and recovery program but I am not sure how it works, I just yesterday used that program but who knows if it works or how it works
-
"manually be set to settings..." what the heck does that mean, I turned UEFI off installed windows 10 turned it back on with RAID....but the post is this happened out of no where weeks after I installed prema mod bios
-
We can not switch between Legacy and UEFI after installing Windows. Whatever it is set to when Windows is installed is what it has to remain and set back to manually after a firmware flash.
Last edited: Jun 22, 2017edney helene and steberg like this. -
In my case, I understand the issues caused when changing between UEFI and Legacy boot modes. This is definitely not the case with my setup. I have all of the BIOS settings that HIDevolution uses when initially setting up this laptop printed out, because with the V2 BIOS upgrade, I had to configure the BIOS myself after their tech support completed the update.
@Prema, is it possible to downgrade the BIOS in this system from V2 to V1? And if so, can you provide me with the V1 version? (Or failing that, can you provide it to HIDevolution's tech support, and then they can provide it to me?) I'd like to eliminate the BIOS update as a possible issue here, before I need to wipe the drives and completely reinstall both OSes.
Thanks.. -
@Prema Hello friend, i do own Avell B155 Titanium max ( Clevo w650sj) With 4810mq, 8gb ram and gtx 850m, Intel HM86.
And also why there is Raid option on mod if i cant set raid with this motherboard model? is there anyway to make intel rst ssd cache work with an bios mod for this model? When i do set raid instead of ahci the bios wont see my disks and there is no raid configuration for it to create raid, only " turn on raid0..etcetc"
I have updated the mei firmware to the latest that is v9.1.37.1002.
Can you please update the premamod for this model? i would like to be able to fan control and this option is not avaliable on your v1 bios, also i would like to thank you for your work and i noticed that the website is now private, will it be offline? is there any news that i still dont know? thank you so much -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I would not expect a response at the moment given his name event post. Unlocked bios tiles can expose options that may not be relevant on your chipset.

No problem i do enjoy these bios and i know the riscs. I dont like default bios. Premamod is gold! Thanks.

Wich name event post are you talking about friend? sorry i dont get it hehe has anything happened?

He said goodbye for now at least.

OH thats sad, so thats the reason his website is offline? =( so i will never be able to download his bios again? =(

@Prema, Update in regards to my Linux reboot issue, after updating to the most recent Linux kernel, (4.12, from 4.11.x), my system now reboots correctly from Linux. I'm not sure what in the Linux kernel could have caused the behavior, but I no longer need to try and downgrade my BIOS, as this appears to have been Linux kernel related. (Apologies for the initial misdirected ping..)
Thanks for your responses here, as well as your work in producing the BIOS for my system.Prema likes this. -
@Prema can I apply this mod on my Dell XPS 15 9530 ? . It is stucked at 80 Temp Limit, and throttle Core clock when exceeded this limit.
-
@iswarrior nope, sorry!
One of the reasons to take the blog down was that I have to make sure Clevo knows the difference between premamod and things that are being posted around the web, which have caused a recent spike in bricked systems being returned to them. To do that I have to change each and every single one of my files and remove the links that can mistakenly associate me with such places.

Hi Prema,
Having great difficulty in trying to contact you - don't seem to be able to Message or leave a post on your profile -
Firstly - let me say, I've been using your BIOS a long while - Thank you very much It's really appreciated.
I own a P170EM, and recently the GFX (HD7970M) died, and thus I've been looking to replace it - I was thinking about the GTX 980M - but am having difficulty with the partner shops in shipping to me eg,eurocom quoted me $100 just for shipping. I've managed to source one from LaptopParts4Less - which I thought was a partner shop according to a post you had done with the partners in, but on asking they can't/don't supply the GTX980M with the premamod vBios, just the stock.
I was wondering if you would be able to assist ?
Thanks for your time
Mack -
When purchasing the GPU from LaptopParts4Less they will provide you with a special system BIOS which gives the card Plug'n'Play driver support among other things. Did you receive that?
As for the vBIOS you can drop me a PM (since you have 5 posts the forum will let you do that now) with your GPUs HWID and I'll take a look...but it's only for additional performance and not required for the upgrade.Last edited: Jul 7, 2017Jon Webb likes this. -
Thanks for getting back to me so promptly
I haven't purchased the card yet, as I've been too nervous about spending that much to end up with something I can't use - I wanted to ensure that everything was in place first (sorry to hear about the issues you've had btw - really uncalled for and very uncool from the individual involved).
I'll check back with LaptopParts4Less that they can supply the System Bios and if so, I'll go ahead with the purchase - otherwise looks like it's just going to be the HD8970M lol
Once I've got the card, I'll message you and any help would be much appreciated.
I'll let you know how I get on with the system BIOS.
Again - thanks so much for all the effort you have put into helping people out - It really is appreciated. -
Hi Prema,
Sorry to take up your time (I can't PM yet as my account here is too new on here it would seem - so I'm stuck in forum posts)
Just had an email back from LaptopParts4Less as follows :-
Unless you can find it in your heart to assist, I guess I'm up a creek paddleless and stuck to buying the older card.
Thanks for your time -
Their BIOS also works Plug'n'Play for P170EM and 980M-G GPUs. You can PM me for the vBIOS once you have the GPU.

Allright my friend, just subscribed! ill be waiting thanks alot -
@Prema if you still have your BIOS' laying around.
I was interested in getting a custom BIOS for the W650SR my little brother owns.
Either way, hopefully, you figure out a place for your BIOS life
edit: thanks in advance, for all the help you've provided throughout your time!
