oh, ok, I wish I had one..
I think you're talking about bing han, but the post after he said he finally is hearing it.

-
-
I wouldn't expect this to be a problem in general and usually coil whine disapears when you change the chips frequenzy or voltage so I was counting on the UV mod...hope to get it going, they messed with how the VBIOS is read......
-
But the whine could come from any part, so you might not be able to change it.. geez I hope not !
-
ya, it's a condensator next to the cpu...they lowered the iGPU idle frequency with the new optimus oROM, so that makes sence...still hope by changing overall consumtion by lowering dGPU voltage to get rid of it.
-
oh.
so until it's fixed you might want to keep it entertained all the time now, if it won't whine on load
let's just hope another one is on the way soon, if they usually release them in less than 3 months ! -
Yep, it doesn't whine on load, it only cries when left alone on battery.
-
OK guys it is offical Clevo is hiding a second encrypted GT650M video BIOS in the 04 update and the regular oROM that we where using is only left as a dummy...looks as if someone in Taiwan doesn't like what we are doing here.
Prema Mod v1.4 with 04 BIOS base UV & OC coming soon! -
What do you mean hidden? How do you hide a BIOS in a BIOS? lol
-
It is in a place where I have never ever seen any clevo or whatever manufacturer placing it. On top of that it has an encryption, which none of the other Clevo vBIOS use...
-
So does this mean no more updates?
-
-
The vbios got updated, it's now 80.07.14.00.A6 . Though I don't see any encryption. But they updated the AMI base code according to the change log, so this might be the cause of your troubles.
Ah, and they lowered the voltage and deleted a whole P-State entry -
Nope, we are talking about the W11 it is 100% identical to the one we used before (was also 80.07.14.00.A6 and it has not one bit different). The oROM is not used at all. I can even delete it...there is a second one with FFS signature...check your mail.
-
Oh, you're right, my mistake. I was looking at the other vbios.
-
Clevo doesn't like us...
I may need your help in a bit just testing something...glad you never sleep either. :
EDIT: OK it works got it signed properly...W11 Prema Mod with SVL7 GPU MOD will continue!
Runs to kill the coil whine... -
Send it my way if you'd like another machine to test...
-
Well I tried to flash something with an unsigned second vROM and it bricked it...need to find a SOIC8 programmer in Germany...time to solder that socket on board...LOL
EDIT: W110ER recovered
This is the first time I actually see this working on an Aptio Clevo.
OUR W110ER is BRICK RESISTENT!
1. Rename BIOS file to W11ER.rom
2. Put file on flash drive into the USB 2 slot
3. Keep FN+B pressed and press power
4. BIOS RECOVERY menu will pop up with different options
5. Choose the last option to flash the BIOS
6. ENJOY more Prema Mods -
go Prema go prema go prema. I get about 15W idle on batterybar so looking forward to it being in the 10W range. Donated $10 AUD for the cause, will give more when paycheck comes in lol
keep up the good work -
Woooow thanks for that! i totally screwed my np6110 (xoticpc) force flashing prema mod 1.3 via afudos Ec + bios...it was not posting, just powering up to a pwring up to an hdd activity light and shutting off after a few seconds. not even a cmos battery pull welded any results. I got it recovered using fn+b method and using the factory bios image on your page! I was also able to get your prema bios flashed without the need force flashing with afudos! Thanks!
-
Wow, this is great info Prema. All PC's should have this option.
-
Just tried on my Clevo w150erm and nothing happened, but I am also not sure I am doing it right. I used fat32 for flash drive and renamed the bios file to "W150ER.ROM".
Anyway it's great that w110er has that feature working -
Try W15ER if it follows the same nomenclature (is it an english word ?
)
-
With this new 1.2 prema mod i tried overclocking my gt650m and went up from a score in 3dmark11 from 2200 to a greatb 3100 3dmarks.. wow!!
score result link: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO CO. W150ER score: P3100 3DMarks
Does all look fine there cause i did see the core clock was only 405mhz while other results i saw had a much higher core clock. I added around 300 to the core clock and +1000 for the memory -
It's W15ER020.rom for the recovery of W150ERx & W170ER...
EDIT: I am focused on the next Mod so, it would be nice if someone could make screenshots of recovery menu and the page when it does recover, so I can incl. it on the blog in an "unbrick tutorial" for the W-series! -
1. remove ac and battery
2. plug ac and battery back in
3. plug usb memory into usb port 2 of the system
4. hold fn+b
5. power on system continuing to hold fn+b, the system will power off and power back on. You'll be in recovery! -
)
-
Still nothing, already renamed to W15ER020.ROM, disconnected the battery and AC and then reconnected like pacman366 but still doesn't show any recovery menu.
Tested on all usb ports just to be sure.
Unless I am using the wrong bios file, but I think it is the W15_PM12.07 file from Prema bios mod 1.2. -
oops i meant to say "W11ER.rom" the file must be named W11ER.rom... it was also the stock W110er rom found here W110ER_03_Stock.rar (from W110ER/NP6110 « Prema Mod ) and not the prema mod rom. that's what worked for me.
-
@ pacman366: dvdpt has a w150
@ dvdpt: use the stock clevo
W150ERx_07_04_stock.rar
rename W150ER.4M to W15ER020.rom (rom / not ROM)
unless Clevo disabled recovery on W150 it should work.
EDIT:
RECOVERY TUTORIAL ADDED:
BIOS RECOVERY « Prema Mod -
I'm having the same problem. Prema W150ERx Mod v1.2 bios installed on my W150ERQ. Everything was going perfectly. Then I re-installed the bios local manufacturer company logo. But could not get the image on the screen. I also have an old BIOS and EC version separately from local manufacturer company logo. If you want to share them with you. However, Prema W150ERx Mod v1.2 bios consists of a single file. I think the problem here stems from the restore. But the old BIOS when I have installed on my notebook is running again, but the screen stays black. I think the BIOS has crashed. Does not display on the screen. I think I need to reprogram the BIOS chip. W150ERQ have 2 pieces BIOS. EC chip (SOIC16) and BIOS (SOIC32) chip. But tomorrow I’ll try the method you said. But I do not think that’s gonna be okay. Said method is very well understood. To re-program the BIOS chip notebook motherboard, but I pulled it out completely. However, even if the screen display does not come I'll try this method. In the worst case re-write the BIOS chip with Xeltek SuperPro 5000 Universal Device Programmer IC Chip ( Xeltek SuperPro 5000E Universal IC Chip Device Programmer)
-
still not working. When powering with fn+b it doesn't even read the fash drive.
Maybe it's due to my flash drive since it is a microSD to usb adapter, but it always worked flawlessly and I can even boot linux from it.
Have any w150/170er user had luck with recovery? -
-
Although I suspect that most people interested in bios mods also follow this thread -
For me a micro-sd usb adapter doesn't work...try each of the usb ports. Also if that model has a cd-rom. Burning the file to a cd instead may do the trick for you.
Good Luck my friend! -
Don't mean to derail, just posting to thank Prema for the hard work on helping me fix my bios
Continue the thread! -
Just tried with an "proper" flash drive and still nothing. Tried all usb ports, without battery, disconnecting the power cord, other key combinations (windows+b, ctrl+b, fn+esc, fn+f).
Also placed a random cd in optical drive to see if it would start reading the cd, but it wouldn't so I guess that burning the file into a cd also wouldn't work.
I see that you placed the guide in your site Prema, so maybe other w150/170er users will also try it and discover how to make it work -
OK dvdpt & Liberty, it looks as if the recovery file name varries from version to version:
rename rom to W15ER017.rom
Follow original tutorial and ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND! -
Prema, how is it going with the last bios mod? Thanks again for your hard work..
-
Just a minor correction Prema.
Where your guide says:
For W150ERx/NP6165: W15ER017.rom or W15ER020.mro
For W170ER/NP6175: W15ER017.rom or W15ER020.mro
mro should be rom I'm assuming. -
Oooops... THX to auto correction...
PM 1.3 with FN+1 Function for W150ERx & W170ER is next... -
I cannot see why the producers don't want to enable such things.. besides the obvious the faster the machine breaks, the more they sell -
except before first year
-
I was hoping w150erm had it so could be less anxious every time I flash a new bios
-
thanks Prema for your hard work
i have a question .i have downloaded latest pm 103 version bios (not uv) but while gaming my gpu clock is only @950 mhz even if i increased to 1150 mhz with msi afterburner or nvidia inspector.any help would be nice thanks -

You're wrong HTWingNut. Stock drive is a very nice overclock. But of course the beta driver is better than stock driver overclocking.
-
Different resellers, different BIOS' and so on -
Nothing can be changed. Product Clevo production. BIOS is a software only.
