you've got a different bios & EC versions than mine, and I think his too.. But apart that, yeah, everything is the same ;)
And of course, it is worldwide known that software can't be changed.. !

FYI, clevo itself releases different versions of bios (or even mainboards) as time goes by, and other manufacturers can modify & adapt those bios.
Stock drivers are not installed by clevo of course, although it's probable that almost everyone first used the same.

Clevo BIOS software is provided as standard. Sager, Eurocom, Xotic PC or any other international brand, the BIOS software change as requested or using the standard Clevo BIOS'es. All use the same motherboard. However you can be sure. Motherboard revision numbers according to the features it has to change.

    Greetings..

I don't understand your reply, but the point is, jaug1337 is correct, since your config is different it may lead to different results.

PREMA this mod is getting more and more amazing... Did you ever include the reset to defaults button so we don't have to pull the battery if we ever forgot what we changed and want it to be default?

    Thanks in advance! :)

    1. System BIOS 1.00.04.
    2. Update AMI code base to 20.
    3. Update ME firmware to 8.0.10.1464.
    4. Please refer to the instruction of readme.txt to update BIOS + ME firmware.
    5. To downgrade BIOS will cause system can't boot up if the BIOS of machine is 1.00.04 or later.

But what really changed is the Optimus vROM. It downclocks the HD4000 to 350Mhz when idle and overall power consumtion has been reduced.
They also implemented a second GT650M vBIOS and left the old one as a dummy. But after some digging through the BIOS and helpful input from SVL7 we managed to continue to use the overclock & undervolt vBIOS hacks.

    :D

In other words, you had to get the modifications to the 650M back to working again?
[EDIT] So I don't have a chance to revert it back to an earlier BIOS in case of bugs or anything?

What exactly have they done to "reduce overall power consumption"? besides changing the idle clocks on the HD3000/4000.

    Hi Prema,

Is the voltage tweak, make GT650M higher clock speeds unattainable? In addition, I need your help in the process of returning the previous BIOS.

@onkelosuppo: yep there's no way back apparently.

Seems like 650M finally behaves correctly when turned off, and won't consume as much as before, that would be around one saved watt.

At least that's what another user reported (on another forum), I didn't test it myself..

wow, just went away for 3 days and there are already updates for w110er and w150/170. Prema is on fire ;)
Just installed prema mod 1.3 in my W150erm and everything works great, including fn+1.

btw, I noticed you changed the recovery page a bit Prema, has any w150/170 user had luck with recovery process?

I will check out a downgrade procedure...

Couldnt i turn back to the old Clevo's BIOS. Motherboard standing on the table. Need to re-program. Prema MOD users, are able to reverse Clevo's BIOS, right? My BIOS has crashed. BIOS recovery does not work. The computer is running but the screen does not display. A black screen.

I believe you can go from Prema's bios to Clevo's bios, as long you don't downgrade the bios&EC (1.00.07 to 1.00.06).

@Prema, too bad you can't recover it. Hopefully an external flash should do the trick. btw, didn't you have soldered a socket for bios to easily swap to another chip when things like this happen?

Yes latest stock or Prema mod work. Also only the latest BIOS has the recovery enabled. It doesn't work on old BIOS, so we can't downgrade at all...taking the board to a shop now hope they have a programmer...only my P170HM3 has a socket and I am traveling with my W11 without socket or programmer...

EDIT: Could someone with 04 W11 BIOS (stock or mod doesn't matter) please dump it with Afuwin and send me!

I may flash then dump tonight, if nobody does it before.
Just noticed that I already have that coil whine, at first I thought it was my ssd, because it did vary with ssd activity.
But I just started with no disk and it still does it. Hope it won't make it louder with new bios.
I can't hear it if my ear is not plugged in the computer though :-/

W150ERx Prema Mod v1.2 from the downgrade to Clevo W150ERx 1.00.06 BIOS I did. I just did downgrade the BIOS. EC could not. Because the notebook shut down after the BIOS downgrade. Re-opened, but the screen did not display. The screen was black.

Downgrade doesn't work even if we flash EC & BIOS in one run it will result in a brick!

Whats up with Clevo?? I'm starting to loose my faith in Clevo! My W110ER broke down last week. When I received it, it would not do a reboot at all while on AC, always stop before post, no matter what memory and HDD/SSD configurations I tried. Then it would hang every time I booted into windows. So I tried Linux LiveCD Mint 13 and Kubuntu 12.04 it hanged on both when just reaching desktop. Tried to install XP, it would just hang before desktop showed up. Now it won't boot at all anymore, so it's back to my reseller.
Now when I read about this BIOS mess they created, downgrading bios causes it to brick, it's unheard off!
My university starts on monday, P150HM is way to big to carry around. :-(

That's the problem, you should have flashed bios 1.00.07 because Prema bios 1.2 is already based on that version.
Try to contact your re-seller or try a local computers shop, maybe they can flash it externally . I think it's better to try the re seller to avoid warranties problems

edit: prema bios v1.2 had 2 files, the bios and EC, at least I remember it when I flashed in my laptop.
Have you tried the recovery procedure?

However, the SOIC32 chip is not the appropriate socket adapter.

Even with this new BIOS, my idle draw still is high. 17 watts once I let it sit for while and 23 about an hour after boot up. There must be some program running in the background that it activating the nVidia GPU. Prema, your idle draw is amazing!! :)

yep that's normal like Prema said. It happens when temperatures crosses certain values that would increase/decrease fan speed when using it normally.
For me, even using fn+1, the fan even stops totally when cpu temps reach <48-49ºC

THANKS. I just can't wait till my W110ER arrives...

What if I underclock the cpu+HD 4000, Nvidia gt650 and the ram to the lowest mhz possible, could it be possible to reach around 9watt?

Why does this laptop really has nasty consumption on idle? Alienware had equivalent hardware, but lasted almost 13hours on battery saving mod...

ps: Or is there an app for windows that will make it as energy saving mod as near as the alienware
Has this option been already implemented in latest bios mod version?

That's the main reason I would like to flash my laptop with this bios mod.

In the future I would like to OC the laptop, but since it has already nasty temperatures, it's hard to even look at the OC options :).

ps: If I flash with the latest bios mod, can I re-flash the original Bios, or update to an upcoming official bios the normal way?
    Keep Cool
