Release date should be november 15th

New intel H motherboards should come a the start of next year so n950 could have an upgrade

There are 2 slots that can both contain a 16gb DDR4 stick for a total of 32gb.

I was in a similar space. I wanted to wait till no earlier than black friday, but I have a Microcenter 10 minutes a way and it was $500-600 less while spec'ed with the same model SSD (Samsung 960), Ram, HDD etc than all the other stores I looked at.

On another note, I still have not seen temps higher than 83 degrees with the CPU after a few hours or more playing several different games, most of the time it only hit 77-78 degrees at most. The GPU never goes above the low 70's while averaging in the high 60's to low 70's. I did undervolt the ECU to -.125 and it has been stable since day one. For those seeing much higher temps, I would check your paste etc, because I am having a totally different experience and have not even cracked the case open yet. At this exact moment while typing this, my GPU is at 36 degrees and my CPU is at 44 degrees with a game minimized in the background and two chrome windows open. At a full idle with nothing running I see 39-42 on the CPU and 34-36 on the GPU. Room temperature is at a constant 21 degrees Celsius.

Today I also took some advice I saw with this laptop and set the overclock fan offset speed to 20% as I noticed Automatic mode did not let them get to 100% or anywhere near what the "Maximum" setting in the control center gets to regardless of heat. It is nice at that setting as it seems to just take all of the automatic mode curves to add the 20% offset to, which seams to be working well. So far with that setting I have not seen above 78 degrees on the CPU after playing the last couple of hours and the top left area feels a bit better. Of note also the GPU has not seen above 69 degrees the last couple hours either.

I can find similar specs for about 300 bucks more especially if you use newegg (no tax here where I am as I am not in cali) If I get the 17inch model its about 1550 for it with tax. Amazing deal still. Issue is I can't write it off on my taxes next year (important since it will be for mobile video work) and I need to upgrade the memory to 32gbs. I am seriously considering it still if it really won't stay this price or wont go back to it or lower around january.

If there was a 32gb sku for 1500 id get it right now. But if I have to upgrade it my self its going to turn a 1500 dollar laptop into a 1800 dollar one.

Build quality seems fine so far, and I like the finish as it is black and not prone to fingermarks. Weight is not too bad, but that can be relative. 6 and a half lbs. So far I am satisfied and it has been playing games like a champ. I was a little iffy as it was thinner than my previous Sager, but those doubts have been put aside. My only complaints are, the odd placement of the power cable in between the side exhaust and and HDMI, but it is by no means unmanageable, just a con because I have to manage it at all. Also, the top left surface gets a bit warm (possibly uncomfortable but certainly not hot or burning) near the CPU exhaust, but it is not a place that contains any buttons or a natural resting spot. The fan speed offset has helped.

Be sure when you are playing games - you change the fan speed from automatic to maximum.

I got the customization in nividia up to 100 Hz, but when I go to apply it to the panel in advanced display properties 100 Hz is not in the drop down list - any ideas ?

    A few questions:

Do you know how to get the RPMs for the fan speeds? Hwmonitor and HWInfo doesn’t report it.

How do you get control center or BIOS updates? The Powerspec website just has older versions.

Had my 1510 for a few days now. Love it! Passed the Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme stress tests with no throttling. The fingerprint slide reader takes a bit to get used to (have to slide your finger just right), and the trackpad stopped recognizing two finger scrolls every third scroll (fixed with a restart).

Getting about 3-4 hours of battery life while using Unity and coding. The cpu fan and the sound of the 7200 RPM HD while idling can be a little noisy, but it definelty not as bad as the GS43VR I returned to get this.

Not on my 1710 - is that normal ?

Also even though I have discrete mode on (changed in bios and first led is lit up) - I have an icon in my systemtray MShybrid (the mode I turned off) but clicking on it does nothing / cant open it.

Manual is very weak. Hopefully someone can comment on the two things above ?

Some other variations of this unit (Clevo PA7xx) have the fingerprint reader in the corner of the touchpad. It looks like it's not available on your particular unit.

Clevo Control Center may be showing the wrong info. If you open DXdiag, or any system info program, it should show your primary GPU as the NVidia GPU. Or, if you open Device Manager, under Display Adapters, it should show only your NVidia chip.

Yeah for me in the 1510 It will always stay at MSHYBRID in the control center for some reason. You can change it to Discrete in the control center but only change it back to MSHYBRID in the Bios (F2 in startup)

Sounds like screws for m.2 drives. Are they silver? I'm not sure about the sticker. Sounds like padding/cushion for the HDD.

Usually pads and screws are given for any non occupied spaces so you can install it yourself at a later date.

This is awesome I didn't realize there was a thraad for this. The pricing on the P650HS unit is insane and Microcenter told me they're using 960 Evos for the ssds which I confirmed...

    1300 for a 1070 7700HQ 16GB ram 256GB 960 Evo and 1TB HDD? Sign me up.

Seriously considering the PowerSpec 1710, but need to check it out in person to see if it's a good fit for me, as it would replace my current 17, the Lenovo Z70-80.

    • Can anyone share their insights on how it feels to type, preferably in comparison to the Lenovo?
    • Need to know if the screen is anti-glare, as well. Pictures and specifications don't say.
    • Also, I'm wondering about the laptop charger, specifications? (Need to find a second one for travel and a 12V vehicle charger to make it work).

So I got an email from Microcenter which led me to this forum and a trip to my local store to pick up the 1510.. Very happy so far, only one real issue outside of the small complaints in this thread. I am using the Geforce Experience and for some games it is recommending extremely low settings for games, almost like it can't see the 1070. I have it on discrete in the BIOS and the card is working fine. I know that Geforce Experience isn't the most popular program in the world, but I like it to at least set up a starting point for graphics settings, and if I can't get it working right it would be a bummer for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone with the 1710 report back if you were able to achieve a stable GPU overclock. I have had issues in both gaming and 3dmark where the GPU will lock itself at 1468mhz and refused to boost.

Aw man, interesting deal.. as considering the MSI newegg with gtx 1060, but this seems sweeter..
Too bad microcenter is somehow blocked in my country. Have to use VPN whenever I want to open it =(

Edit: heard the 17" ran out of stock already? and 15" is a no go, looks uglier & bulky too..

I am having trouble with the touchpad. When I type a key, the touchpad momentarily disables (sucks when you are playing games with the trackpad). I know there’s is a synaptics setting to disable this feature, but the there is no synaptics control panel/settings in the mouse properties in Windows 10. Are there new drivers planned for this?

Hey all, what are your thoughts on purchasing now vs. waiting till Black Friday / Holiday deals?
Are prices likely to go down even further? I'm not sure if I buy now whether I'll have fomo in a few weeks if prices are slashed. :p

Look at the local stock in your area online. In my area the 1710 has over 10 units still. I am going to wait and see probably. if I see it goes below 3 or something il probably just grab it before black friday. Otherwise il wait and see. This deal is kind of amazing even if it doesnt go down.

    Hello,

How is the hinge holding up on your 1710?
If you close the lid and walk around carrying it like a book, does the lid keep flapping against the keyboard?
I bought mine yesterday, it gave a message "your PC ran into an error" after playing DOTA 2 online on ultra settings for an hour or so. The laptop was sitting on the table. I rebooted and then put a cooling pad underneath it (Cooling Pad OFF) and played DOTA for close to an hour, no problem. After I was done, turned it off and closed the lid. While I was carrying to my room, the lid was flapping against the base. The hinge doesn't have enough tension to keep the lid completely closed.

Did not record the temps as of yet. But I'm gonna give it a GOOD RUN this weekend to see how everything holds up.
If anybody wants to suggest the CPU/GPU tests(benchmarks) that I should run, please do.
Give me the names of a few and I'll run them.

In Destiny 2 I am seeing around 81C on CPU and 74C on gpu with a -.120 undervolt on cpu with pretty high settings. Have the monitor refresh to 96hz and fps is generally above 100fps in normal gameplay. I tried repasting with thermal grizzly kryonaut and temps didn't seem to change for me much so I wouldn't worry about a repaste.
