Have you looked up modifying the clock curve with ctrl + f in afterburner?

yeah, Ive been messing around with it. I'm using the OC scanner and then limiting it at around .800 v. With various levels of memory clock overclocking I routinely get 17600-17700 ish Fire Strike scores. I tried a manual offset of 250 something and I once got above 17900 but I havent come near that again. Just wondering what levels and limits others have set their gpus at

Edit: Used the OC scanner, set my memory offset to +810, and now I get around 17900 on Fire Strike

Just tweak it slowly and find the comfortable point for your chip, each chip is different.

    Hello gents!

Thought I'd join in here. I have the 9750h/2070 model!

This is my current firestrike score with +175 on core and that's it.

I'm running a .096mv on core and cache!

Anymore than that I get ts bench errors!

Would love to improve this score!

    Any suggestions?

Anyone else on the 9750h? [IMG]

    18539

    -.0986 on core
    -.1230 on cache

    +185 clock
    +1000 mem

For some reason I wont go past 47w of use on the cpu!

Pretty happy with it thou gents!

    Any improvements to be made?

Oh how dare you continue to tweak ;) 47w is the power limit of the mobile chips.

Mobile chips as 9750H = 45 Watt or better say most of the ODM/OEM - Manufacturers let it run +55w under prolonged time :)

Mine does do it however for some reason the turbo timer I can't trick into infinite. Sometimes it clocks down.

Hands down satisfied with this machine though

    Hi guys,
Has anyone experienced stuttering even on desktop? I been having this issue lately, heavy stuttering and some times applications will not respond for 1 or 2 seconds, I have HyperX 2666 16gb ram upgrade and the CPU was repasted with LM. Have TS with -138.7mV, also Raid 0 2x 500GB WD Black Nvme SSDs, in addition the laptop sits on a coolermaster laptop cooler. Runs pretty chill, not sure why the stuttering even when just browsing the net. (Noting is installing in the back ground).
    Thanks!

Finally got around to repasting my cpu/gpu. My gpu temps went from 75*C while gaming to 65*C. The CPU went from 96*C to 74*C (with a -240mv core -.125 cache before and after repaste). Really worth it.

A good cleanout and a scheduled repaste is always a good idea, a bit like oil changes on a car :)

Is a "no load" limit normal when you overclock and undervolt your gpu. I got a 2070 in my PB71 and if I undervolt it to 800 im constantly left with a no load limit

No load is an idle state.

so let me know if I've done something wrong here.

I overclocked my gpu with the OC scanner in MSI Afterburner. If I play a game just like that, I'm constantly getting power and voltage limit warnings. It doesn't really seem to mess with my game experience or thermals but I suppose it's something to avoid so I undervolt the gpu. I see that the highest clock for the rtx 2070 is 1400 and that translates to .767 volts so I flatten the curve from that point in Afterburner. No more power and voltage limit warning but I get no load limit a lot, in GTA V all the time. Am I doing something wrong here?

There will always be some limit to clocks so if they are stable that's the main thing.

Anyone here replaced the thermal pads on the heatsink? What thickness thermal pads did you use?

You can get variations so if you want to replace them I would judge it by hand for your heatsink. A good eye for fitment and looking at your paste spread would get the best fit.

Does anyone here have any experience with Obsidian Control Station and the other apps they have for Clevo? I just did a fresh install on a PB71 I got last year and I'm debating over whether to go with Obsidian or just reinstall Clevo Control Center. The only downsides I see are an extra fee for fan control and the lighting part of it not being able to handle per key rgb like I have. I'm wondering if I can simply install the Clevo keyboard app to keep that feature but use Obsidian Control Station for everything else.

    thanks

Finally got my RAM running at 3200Mhz CL16. Had to crank up the System agent voltage to +75mV to get it to work as a reference but I bet I could bring that down.

Managed to get it stable at +45mV for the System Agent. Feelsgoodman

On another note, my MSI afterburner settings aren't being applied on startup. I have everything set and AB thinks the settings are applied but GPU-Z says otherwise. I have to manually select the profile again and apply it everytime I startup :|

Also, when undervolting the GPU, what do you guys set the max voltage to? Mine's currently set to 825mV @ 1770MHz but I'm thinking I should bring it down to 737mV @ 1600Mhz

Haven't updated this in a year. Still occasionally gaming with the PB70EF-G. Lately MW: Warzone mostly, still messing about in Skyrim and World War Z as well. I travel with the laptop every other week by motorcycle in a backack and as of yet it has shown no signs of wear or damage. I've been 140MPH+ wih the laptop on my back!

I've stumbled upon this program which has boosted some performance system wide via power management.

    PowerSettingsExplorer - https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-power-plan-settings-explorer-utility.416058/

This allows you to easily view processor power management settings and other Power scheme settings Windows hides. Core parking, idle time, c-state promotion/demotion, all adjustable here. Depending on CPU model, these settings can make quite a difference to CPU load/balance and overall system performance.

Within these settings specifically I found changing PCI-E Link State Management to "Off" when benchmarking or gaming made a massive difference. Nearly 1,000 points in some 3DMark tests. However it also raises idle power usage from 1-2W to 10-12W average.

    I find myself switching between;

Regular Use: Maximum core parking, PCI-E Link On, NVidia Power Scheme "Optimal"

Gaming/Benchmarking: All Cores active, PCI-E Link Off, Nvidia Power Scheme "Prefer Maximum"

If you can be bothered to test before and after each change within PowerSettingsExplorer you can optimize for your specific system. Specifically ensuring all cores are available and dividing up the workload. I had several times where TSBench or Cinebench were only utilizing 50-80% of cores while the rest sat idle! In games as well, several by default utilize only 2-4 cores.

Also note the system overall does run hotter when you enable all cores and disable the power savings features. I can't stand leaving it all off 24/7 and seeing the laptop idle at 12W+ so I ensure after gaming or when traveling to enable most features.

    For an i7-8750H and RTX 2070 it's still a pretty viable gaming laptop! Latest scores;

    CB R20 - 3104
    Fire Strike - 18140
    Time Spy - 8156
    Port Royal - 4812

Im sorry if this is a dumb question, but I tried applying this to my 1520 before realizing its probably not the same for my screen and it didnt make any noticeable changes (possibly from me adding it incorrectly) Do you know if this would be compatible with a 1520 and if so what is the correct steps for applying it? If its not compatible, do you happen to know where to find one for the 1520?
