I’d love to have pictures of your everyday settings to use to maximize performance and minimize heat.

I got one of these beasts, and I’ve had some issues with heating. Even in a game like Fortnite, I’m hitting low 80s. When trying to play Modern Warfare, I was hitting 98! I decided to buy some new paste and after repasting it this evening, Fortnite doesn’t go past 72 and Modern Warfare barely hits 80! The only issue now is that I can no longer get Modern Warfare to hit 144 FPS. It’s like I’m hitting an FPS limit at 110ish (max), and half the time am only in the double digits. Before I repasted, I was hitting 144 no problem. As far as I’m concerned I’m using the same throttlestop settings, but I’m wondering if it’s a case of where I have to delete the .ini and reset it back to those settings. It’s just odd because other games I’ve tried like Fortnite and Overwatch are hitting 144 without an issue at all.

Check your GPU usage/clocks along with the CPU too.

Apparently I’m hitting my power limit on my GPU now for some reason. Even though with the most demanding games, I’m making out at low 70s. I’m not thermal throttling at all and my CPU is perfect at the moment. What’s causing the issue now with the GPU power?

Likely you are at the max programmed GPU power for the machine. Turbo has to have some limit eventually.

I could understand that. But it's power limiting even in a game such as Fortnite, where the GPU isn't even hitting 60 degrees at a constant rate. And I didn't originally have an issue hitting 144 FPS until I repasted. Temps are 15-20 degrees cooler now, but the gpu is acting up for some reason...

EDIT: Oh, and I don't have trouble with 144 in Fortnite, but I am still seeing that the power limit is being hit in it. In Modern Warfare is where I've seen the drop. It used to run 144 in it, but now it doesn't.

A repaste is not going to impact a power value. I'm trying to think if poor VRM contact leading to overheating would struggle a power limit throttle name.

Either way you can double check that. It's hard to say without information on clocks, voltages etc.

I think that’s why it’s been really confusing for me. I changed my throttlestop settings right after repasting, so I figured it must be something to do with that. From what I’ve seen in this thread as well as the other megathread for this laptop, it looks like most people have the same power limit being hit on the GPU. I’m looking at HWMonitor listing power limit as 1 under the GPU.

I made some changes last night and it seemed to have helped a ton. I’m looking at anywhere from 120-144 FPS with settings maxed in Call of Duty. Still shows the same power limit with the GPU, but it doesn’t appear to affect the performance at all. I also messed with afterburner to match Awak3’s and that helped. Only thing left I think I really have to do is get another stick of ram. That should increase performance as well.

Tuning the voltage and clocks is the best way to work with a power limit.

That’s good to hear. I actually have a stick coming in the mail tomorrow. I’ve never had a scenario where I’ve ran a computer/laptop without dual channel RAM, so it’ll be interesting to see the difference.

In demanding titles there should be a marked improvement, the CPU is starved for bandwidth on a single stick.

Hey guys, does anyone else have problems with their computer freezing/ blue screening? This happens to mine on occasion, but thankfully it's fairly rare. I noticed it usually occurs while watching videos...

On another note, any recommendations for an additional SSD to get? Or does the brand not really matter?

This is quite fun to do. If I run my 8086K with a -225 undervolt at default speeds of 4.3Ghz all core boost it run around 0.900-0.960v Core under 100% load in R15. Very cool to do. I think it draws like 58-60 watts at only 60C Max temps under a stressful stress tested load. This in in a Clevo P750TM1-G with liquid metal.

I ordered 5 laptopts from schenker/bestware. Only one of those is crashing with blue screen (no specific error message). It happened even after windows install. The other 4 don't do that. I contacted schenker and they only told me to run a stress test, which came back unconclusive.

This error is random and very hard to pinpoint

    any tips ?

    @XMG

I stress tested the notebook and i get blue screen errors.

The fans ramp up at max and after that i get a freeze then a blue screen.

I also get this now whenever i use a video editing software.

Here are the codes I get :
    WHEA_UNCORECTABLE_ERROR
    CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT

    Please advise.

Furmark for the GPU and Prime95 for the CPU. And movavi slideshowmaker for the video editing.

Yeah that's two power viruses, they are not recommended for laptops.

For the video editing try running a single stick of ram and make sure you are at stock.

    @XMG

Schenker have been stellar and responsive on this, even with the holidays. They are going to send me two new memmory sticks with a return package.

I will try them out and let you know.

On a sidenote, my clevo center is not retaining settings between reboots. Any idea on how to fix it ?

I have this model laptop from Microcenter.

I'm a huge dumbass and broke my RGB keyboard. I was trying to remove it and I damaged the ribbon cable attached to the front edge of the keyboard. Now, many of the keys no longer register when pressed.

I was wondering if someone might be able to point me in the proper direction for finding a replacement RGB keyboard. I have e-mailed the Clevo USA Contract Service Center a couple of times without any response. According to the Clevo Factory Service Manual the part number for the RGB keyboard is: 6-80-N15Z0-01D-1.

From looking around and doing some digging, it looks like this Clevo model may be the same as the Sager NP8377, the Schenker Compact 17, and the Eurocom Nightsky RX 17. If this is true, then maybe I could acquire a replacement keyboard from one of those companies?

I'm open to any suggestions you may have for me, and I thank you in advance for any help I receive.

I tried calling the Clevo USA Contract Service Center by way of telephone. No answer. Only a recorded message asking for my access code. WTF?!?

I also e-mailed Microcenter. I'm very confident they can at least get the replacement keyboard, but they may only do so if I allow them to make the repair in the store. IDK yet.

I called Xotic and they would not sell me any parts unless I had purchased my laptop directly from them.

I then called Sager. When I told the gentleman on the phone that I was looking for a replacement keyboard, he asked for my laptop's serial number. OH NO! I was afraid he was going down the same path as Xotic and I would be turned away for not owning a Sager. So, I told the gentleman that I don't have the laptop with me at this moment, but I do remember the model number of the laptop in question. This satisfied him enough to begin searching for the replacement keyboard using the NP8377 as reference since this is the closest model I could find to my Powerspec 1720. He gave me a price and then I asked him if he would give me the part number for the replacement keyboard. He did and it does not even come close to matching the part number I found in the FSM for the PB70EF.

So, I'm not exactly sure what to do at this point. I could order the replacement keyboard from Sager, but if it's the wrong one, then I'm out $150 and will become a sad panda.

    Update

I finally received a response to a third e-mail that I sent to Clevo. This time, I e-mailed the main office in Taiwan and they responded immediately.

They asked for my serial number and told me after which they would supply me with a distributor who can supply me with the replacement keyboard I'm looking for.

Just out of curiosity, why doesn’t this seem to cause problems for other people that installed extra RAM?

Anyone here have any tips on setting up a PB71 RF-G with an RTX 2070 (undervolting, etc)?

I only barely know what I'm doing with this after having watched a bunch of videos and read a few guides but I keep getting a throttle notification when running Prime95 with an undervolt of -.125
