Hi,
I've flashed my W370ST to a Prema BIOS, and, it's fantastic.
I have full memory control, although I can't make any settings 'stick'
I first tried relaxing my memory, it's pc-12800 11-11-11-28 so I thought setting it to 12-12-12-31 might be an idea. After reset, it took some time to post but nothing changed.
I also changed the Bclk in XTU and the system froze after a 2MHz increment (translated as about a 20-30MHz increase on the memory)
Is it just that samsung basic ram is already at its upmost limits?

If the machine took a while to post, then it likely started, tried the memory timings, failed to boot and then reset them.
The base clock will always have a small margin for tweaking.Prema likes this. -
So I just read on a thread that you can only get a Prema BIOS through a reseller that supports it.. back in my P151EM1 days they were just available to download.. and I was rather looking forward to tinkering with it on my P775DM3
Is this accurate? Is there no other way either through donation or maybe even a replacement BIOS chip to get a Prema BIOS these days? -
Idr about donation, but yeah in the U.S. HIDEvolution and Eurocom are the places to get it.

Prema deserves compensation for the huge amount of time and work that goes into the BIOS. Your best bet is to use a Prema partner - https://biosmods.wordpress.com/partner/ . BTW, I think this is a FABULOUS idea. It means Prema is working in tandem with resellers. They know what his work can do, and he knows their hardware. A logical and very smart business move for everyone involved.
Since you purchased one already, scrounge around on his site - https://biosmods.wordpress.com/ . It does look like donations may help you in your quest.

There is hope!! I had forgotten about this... - http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/prema-gift-donations-thread.793580/page-21#post-10312512, although not certain if this will apply to your system.
Dunno if the offer has expired, but check with @Phoenix or @Prema to be certain.Spartan@HIDevolution, droidmahn and i_pk_pjers_i like this. -
Greetings, everyone. A question to Prema or other bios tech savvy forumites.
I've got a Clevo W370SS laptop with a GTX 860M videocard and an i7 4700MQ CPU. It is also known as Sager NP7378, DEXP Ares 101, and DNS Extreme 0802876. The former two brand names are used in the Russian market.
Basically, my problem was the laptop's slight overheating when I played a not so demanding game (PoE) at low-medium video settings.
I wanted to underclock the powerful 860M 60 Watt GPU and perhaps the CPU as well to make it heat less. And yes, I'm all very new to all these vBios mod matters.
So, I decided to explore Prema mod's features and just followed the instructions from his website on wordpress, installing W370SS Prema Mod v1.
Half way through BIOS updating I got these messages and the process froze. The same problem was reported by Nicholas at the Premamod website so I borrowed his shot illustrating the problem.
After waiting for some 20 minutes I shut down the laptop and then pulled out the CMOS battery to reset BIOS. I'm not really sure whether the laptop had been temporarily bricked before I reset BIOS.
Then the laptop started no problem and I accessed Prema BIOS mod's settings and modified some of them all right, so the BIOS seems functional.
Now I really wonder
1. What might have caused the freezing during BIOS update? I followed Prema's instructions thoroughly, and Nicholas had had the same problem, too. I'm not sure if it's relevant, but he's also using the Russian version of this laptop.
2. Was the Prema BIOS update actually successful despite the freezing? If it wasn't, how do I complete the update or run a fresh update? Also, is there a newer (v2 or v3) version available that would suit my Clevo?
3. Can I underclock my GPU and/or CPU using Prema's BIOS? I failed to find these features in the mod.
It might have been a silly experiment, but Prema's enthusiastic effort on BIOS modding are very much appreciated, the BIOS offered by DEXP is extremely limited.
Thanks in advance for any help! -
1 & 2:
It didn't freeze for Nicholas!
His previous/existing vBIOS already was a factory brick (which he apparently didn't even notice) and flashing the Mod actually recovered it.
The W370SS series also had some factory BIOS problems on older revisions, which lead to the hanging in your case.
Since you are updated now you are on a golden version and it can no longer happen.
3:
You can now e.g disable cores, Turbo, hyper-threading, underclock the CPU in the the 'CPU Configuration' section of the BIOS.
To underclock the GPU you can use the software NVIDIA Inspector.
ENJOY!Georgel, DreDre, Stress Tech and 5 others like this. -
Thanks a lot for your time and for your prompt response, Prema. You know you rock! And it's really no wonder that DEXP BIOS is obsolete crap.
I'll repost your response at other places where I asked this.
One extra problem here, I guess the process of updating stopped on vBIOS update, so now my NVidia GTX 860M is no longer initialized, as I found out since the initial post.
Should I flash the vBIOS using NVflash or your have some other advice on the issue? E.g., should I run your BIOS mod update afresh?Last edited: Oct 5, 2016 -
Remove the AC Adapter while the system is OFF, then plug it back in and after booting from USB/DOS only type 'xx' and confirm with 'enter'. That will only re-flash the vBIOS and EC.

A final question, it you don't mind.
Basically, it's a "bug or feature" dilemma. My videocard's clock is now set @ 540 MHz (frequency indicated by Aida64, Nvidia inspector and Afterburner and GPU-Z and NV control panel the last time I managed to access it), which is half the regular frequency. So, the question is if that's intended, as a feature of Prema mod (tm), so it's set at a very low frequency until I overclock it with NV Inspector or MSI afterburner, or that's a bug of my vBIOS/driver installation.
Additionally, Vidia control panel is now inaccessible. I don't mind that, and PoE runs perfectly @ 540 MHz, and besides my laptop is now cold as an arctic fish when I'm playing it, I just want to make sure that I installed everything properly.Last edited: Oct 6, 2016 -
Update Intel GPU and then NVIDIA driver and make sure the AC Adapter is connected.
-
-
Nope, it's a driver thingy. Connect the battery and make sure the control panel to whatever software or game you have there to use the dGPU (NVIDIA) or it simply won't switch.
If you don't have access to NVIDIA control panel then get rid of the old driver by using DDU and make a clean driver installation. -
Will do, cheers. I'm using Geforce Experience to get the drivers. And sometimes NVidia control panel is there (usually on PC startup), sometimes it's not.
I'll update you on the outcomes in either case. -
UPD: so, I did a full uninstall of NVidia and Intel drivers using DDU + Safe mode, then installed the Intel Driver, restarted, installed the NVidia driver (clean install), that did not help, the core speed is still stuck @ 540+ MHz, at that NVidia control panel no longer disappears.
Anything else I should try? When I googled for 860m stuck at 540 MHz there were some suggestions that might be caused by incorrect power supply for the videocard.
PS: I'm not sure what else to check. Is this expected behavior? Could it be that the 860m is in fact really clocked at 540 originally MHz and then just constantly overclocked to 800 or 1029? So I just need to set the required core clock {somewhere}? Officially, the card is 1029+Boost MHz, so perhaps the original vBIOS just set it to that value as the default one?Last edited: Oct 6, 2016 -
Hi Prema, or anyone affiliated with Prema, or this process,
What is the correct and legal process to acquire Prema BIOS for a Kabylake based p775dm3-g laptop that was not purchased from a prema partner?
Also, can a prema bios be installed without also installing a video bios?
Thanks all for any assistance offered?
Thanks. -

Hello, I have a Clevo model W355SSQ and I want to put the amazing prema bios to make things interesting. I only found on the website of prema the W355SS. My question is will it work the W355SS bios on W355SSQ? The motherboard is the same? Thanks in advance.

Hi Prema!
Is any possibility to resolve black screen issue on P375SM with MSI GTX 1070 under Windows? Without Nvidia drivers and under Linux screen works. On HDMI works also.
Of course, with donation. -
Well installation was a sucess! Now we are talking... Thank you very much Prema, keep up the good work.

has anyone got the prema bios mod for a p150hm they can share? can't seem to find anywhere to download these bios mods anymore.
-
you can't find them because people kept stealing @Prema's work.
-
so is there no way to get the bios mods?
-
you can try and ask prema directly and you might get lucky.
-
i requested an invite on the now private wordpress page but that was over a week ago, so i guess i wasn't lucky
why do nice things always get ruined by idiots........

I don't think the HM series got one IIRC he started with the EM series?
I might just be thinking of the 980m card support being added in though. -
I think Meaker is correct. I don't know if @Prema ever released a BIOS mod for that model. I just checked and looks like there is not one available for the P150HM, only the P150EM, SM and SM-A. -
I have an unfinished mod for the HMs incl. GTX9xxM support, but my P170HM3 died due to me stupidly hot-plugging the screen back then. I have everything to fix it, but right now I am literally at the other end of the planet without access to the hardware...

@Prema You have done fabulous work from what I continue to read and I would like to flash my AW18 980M. However, I don't understand the fact that you published your work and now no one outside of a close circle has access to your mods. I am not looking to question your motives, but I am asking as to the steps to access any of your work. Have you gone to a fee based system such as a PayPal link? Is there legality to flashing modded VBIOS to which there will never be any route to access your work. I see that this thread has Company Representatives such as @Meaker@Sager, if you've gone through back end channels to vendors only, then could someone politely direct me to a vendor that offers firmware flashing services.
I am sure that there will be a "Google is my friend" response, if any. But I still cannot find any direct line towards accessing your work other than to know we are painfully uninvited to it. -
