@j95 what is your policy regarding updates? Is it "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Just asking, since we haven't seen an update in months.

I kind of like that approach, btw., I mean - if the update does not provide improved functionality then what's the point.

The guide works. A couple of tips:

    0. Uninstall the Realtek and SoundBlaster apps from the start menu (this hasn't actually bothered me, but since you're having trouble, might as well do this beforehand).

    1. Disconnect from the internet until this is done, otherwise Windows Update will helpfully install the driver it thinks is best.

    2. DDU has to be run in safe mode, twice - once to uninstall the Creative/ Soundblaster stuff, and then, without exiting DDU, the Realtek stuff.

    3. Disable driver signature enforcement. Disable your antivirus - this can be tricky depending on your antivirus as some of them don't let you do this easily. Exiting the antivirus only closes the GUI window - the actual protection service is still running. Windows Defender is not very troublesome, but you might have to manually disable services for other antivirus apps, maybe even uninstall it and reinstall it after the modded driver is fully installed.

    4. Install the driver. If you don't get a prompt asking you if you want to allow the installation ( you'll be asked 4 times), you're doing something wrong. Don't reboot after the Realtek driver is installed - just wait until the Creative stuff gets installed (you'll see a command prompt window open for a few seconds, then close).

    5. Once the driver is installed, reboot. Reinstall/ enable your antivirus as needed. Turn the internet back on and install the Realtek and SoundBlaster apps.

Yes. Make sure the driver you select matches the Windows release that you are using, as there are several older drivers there as well.

Need HELP please. The latest modded Realtek Drivers seems really broken. Internal laptop speakers are no longer disabled and sound plays concurrently with headphones or external speakers plugged in. Really annoying.

    Heyho,

I have an annoying issue with the Audio Console; it cannot connect to the RPC-Service and thus I cannot use it. Most of the rest works totally fine*.
Also note that reinstallation of the driver package and the audio console app aren't solving this issue (I tried twice). Nor did this possible solution: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/584412/realtek-audio-console-cannot-connect-to-rcp-service

*Sadly I also can't use my microphone correctly. The inbuild mc works fine under windows, just the Accoustic Echo Cancellation causes extreme distortion sounds, but when i try to use it in any programm, app or whatever it doesn't work at all. Also when I plug in any microphone it will get detected, but doesn't work at all either, the only thing I can hear is the static noise. For this problem I've found yet no solution at all. But it is important for me that it works, 'cause I often use Discord and other apps to communicate.

I would be really thankfull for any actuall help. ;-)

    Cheers,
    Logan

P.S.: I am using a Clevo P771zm-G, also known as the XMG u705 by Schenker. It has the best possible hardware built inside, meaning a i7 4790k, 32GB DDR3 RAM, 980M 8GB, G-Sync panel, etc.

I think the latest Windows 10 Update (2004) broke the modded drivers. @j95 Eagerly waiting for your next update.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't done it yet. Did you do an upgrade or a clean install? In either case you'll need to reinstall the driver - Windows setup nukes many drivers, including graphics drivers. In the case of an upgrade, you'll need to use DDU to remove the remnants of the nuked modded drivers and then reinstall them.

Clean install with DDU all the time mate. I even have Group Policy activated in Windows Update to block all unwanted auto driver updates.

I meant clean install of Windows - formatting the C drive.

I have the P751DM2-G clevo, since this last windows update audio drivers broke. Clean install of windows with old drivers did not solve the issue. Latest official driver for alc898 works fine, except that the audio volume dropped like to 70%.

Older version of windows with old driver also does not work (audio ports messed up and not detecting ports).
Maybe I don't understand this, but why older windows with older drivers does not work?

Hi, may I ask what is the "creative" option in DDU means? I only see clean and restart, not restart. And install driver mod sometimes gave me error like "fail to install, somethingx000024B. Had to reinstall windows because blue screen (Bad system config).
I've been trying to install few of those drivers above, because the sound blaster doesn't work ever since I installed windows LTSC version.
Got sound blaster back but lost the microphone o_O. I tried to re roll, go to get realtek driver on clevo's website. But non of them seem to work.
Please help me how exactly do I use DDU and what version is compatible with the windows LTSC. Mine is P775tm (8700k) and I'm currently on LTSC 1809 ( OS build 17763.1817)

Seems I spoke too soon. Please also see the update below.

Hello Everyone. My system is P870tm-r (see sig). I managed to get the Sound Blaster with basic realtek working using Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.8678_Creative_SBC_UWP_Clevo_Mod from the Premamod wordpress site. After like an YEAR !! phew. My main issues earlier were
    • I couldn't install the modded driver above and it gave a driver error ending in "0x.....B" (I forget the exact value) or
    • I tried an alternate method and installed the generic realtek driver AND the sound blaster, the sound blaster 360 was not doing ANYTHING to the sound. It didn't show any errors either but there was no virtualization or other functions inside it simply didn't work. Just the main volume bar worked.
My system details are in my signature below. It is a P870tm-r. @Dmitry Zyabko and others who have the system.

    Steps:
My main thing was to follow the instructions as given on the same page https://premamod.wordpress.com/2017/08/15/j95-realtek/ but add a step or two of my own. My install might still not be perfect but my Creative Sound Blaster 360 is working now ! So what I had to do was.
    1. Follow the steps on the page above. Esp make sure you get the 4 prompts for “Install driver software anyway”. If you get the driver error I mentioned above it means the driver signing step above didn't work. Note : For me the driver signing disabling using the command prompt ddidn't work. I had to do it via the advanced startup -> restart -> disable driver signing-> restart.
    2. Now once installed the realtek console and sound blaster will show up but : If the Sound Blaster, if installed, is unable to detect your audio device correctly Then download the executable (https://github.com/AlanFinotty/AAFDCHDriverMod/raw/master/KGAConfig.exe). I got the link from this page : https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/realtek-dch-modded-audio-driver-for-windows-10.250915/.
      • So download the KGAConfig.exe and run it. Choose 1 for sound blaster 360.
      • Reboot the system and the error on sound blaster should go away and it should now work too !
I am happy with the result. One thing though that I found is the Realtek Console UI now doesn't show equalizer etc on it as it used to when I installed the generic Realtek Console in the method 2 above. Is this expected @jc_denton ? Is somehow Sound Blaster taking control so the equalizer and ambience settings ( eg room, hall etc) that I used to see in earlier realtek console is knowingly not visible ? Please let me know

Hope the posts helps anyone struggling with Installs for the system.
    ---- UPDATE
:wacko:Seems I spoke a little too soon. After I shut down the system for the night and rebooted in the morning I see that the Realtek Audio Console has the error: Cannot connect to RPC Services and also Sound blaster connect is showing the error : Your audio device cannot be detected again. Have to keep trying it seems.

You have to turn off automatic driver updates. Otherwise Windows Update will quietly replace your driver with a newer one that doesn't work with the MOD.

that behavior is expected (aka. by design)

Realtek EQ & environment options are not shown in the Realtek audio console app due to some "missing" entries in the HDX_ClevoExt_CT_RTK.inf extension file that would "unlock" the ability to use both the Realtek EQ and Sound Blaster Connect audio options at the same time.

rather I use either this guy's latest creative realtek mods ( realtek-hda-creative-sbc-mod) or ( realtek-uad-creative-legacy-mod) to get both Realtek EQ and Sound blaster enhancement options available than using any of j95's outdated realtek creative mods.

I was trying the drivers above to install. Disabled the driver signature and also did a DDU removal of all audio. On trying to install it gives me a 0x.....800700.. error. Don't remember the exact value but will retry and post. I tried the latest version for ( realtek-hda-creative-sbc-mod). Did I try the correct one and also is there any special extra steps to avoid the error ?
