I did some scaling with pictures from other laptops with 15.4", it seems a bit small, but my eyesight is pretty good so that'll be fine.

If only if they offered WXGA+, that'll be a perfect balance.

You can order an IFL90 from powernotebooks or xoticpc with WXGA+. It might not be as cheap as the Sager but it's still a pretty good deal.

What resolution? The WXGA models are all glossy, the WSXGA+ are matte, for now

I was also told that the WXGA+ would be all glossies, but those things tend to change

    Mine is the WSXGA+ one.
So if what you said was true,
then what exactly does the 'glare type' mean??

the glare type is the glossy screen, not the matte. Last anyone heard though was due to a shortage the WSXGA+ would initially be only matte, and if you wanted the glossy screen it would push you back 2-3 weeks more than everyone else. I would contact whoever you ordered from to be certain.

Edit- Sager only lists the matte as an option for WSXGA+, Xoticpc doesnt say which it is, and powernotebooks doesnt say either.

Hmm, I've got to wonder how well known the Sager NP2090 really is in the mainstream market. Something tells me that big companies like Dell, Sony, Alienware (Dell), and Apple don't want consumers to know that they can get a laptop equivalent to their upper-tier $2000+ laptops for nearly half the price. ;)

i hardly notice any noise. will get temps when i get more time. but i have experienced my first problem, when playing games the screen leaves one row of pixels at the top and left which retains some kind of static image (like a loading screen) almost like the game is adjusted one pixel to low and to the right. think this i a problem with my screen or the games? can the screen be adjusted to fix it? from what ive noticed, if it bring it to windowed screen to full screen the problem fixes itself.

Hmmm, what drivers are you using for the card? Are you on 64 or 32 bit vista? Are there any other nvidia drivers you could try? This is discouraging, makes me questiohn the quality of the 8600m GT card/drivers.

So you can get both the 64bit and 32 bit CDs from Xoticpc? Not to mention that 64 bit is more secure.

The Sager version (through Sager, powernotebooks, xotic) comes with both. The elite series from xotic and powerpro from powernotebooks only comes with one or another though. Apparantly sending both was an exclusive deal that Sager has worked out. You can get the Sager version through xotic and powernotebooks with that option of course.

I've been watching all this with baited breath and I really appreciate all the info you're providing LOST. I;ve gotta wait til the next shipment but this is tiding me over.

very well its seems to be software as there are not enough video card drivers that fully support the 64bit version as the majority of vista users use the 32bit version i would encourage him to use the 32bit version with the 32bit dirvers and see the outcome!!!

if you switch to 32bit and 32 bit drivers how easy will it be to make the switch to 64bit when necessary? would it make that much a difference to leave the 64bit installed or is it very highly recommended to switch it to 32bit? Im not too keen on the 64/32 bit thing so since my 2090 is on the way id like to figure this out :)

Does the Sager 2090 have a magnetic latch when it closes? Oh, and can you please show us some pics of Oblivion in action? This is one game I want to play with high resolutions and mostly all other details on high. And if it's not too hard to ask, maybe some Rainbow 6 Vegas? How does Oblivion look? Does it look better than the Xbox 360 version?

You might want to try partitioning your hard drive and put 32bit and 64bit on separate partitions...then if the Boot Manager comes up you don't have to reinstall, just select which one you want to boot in to.

You can do this with XP and Vista. We just haven't tested it yet with Vista 32bit and 64bit. If we can get some time to test it we will and report back here.

i chose the 64bit version to get the 32 and 64bit versions of windows. i was trying to post pics of in game graphics but i cant figure out how (so noobish). is it i press "print screen" then do what? as for closing the screen, im not sure if its a magnet, but it doesnt have a latch like my dell 5150 while whatever is keeping it shut keeps it shut well.

Price drops usually happen after a particular model has been on the market for several months, so it could happen. If you're lucky, there could be a price drop on some of the parts that the resellers put in, but that won't make a huge difference (Also the price for parts could increase as well).

    1. WSXGA+ is matte for the IFL90's from xotic and powernotebooks.
    2. 64bit Vista only accepts signed drivers I think.
    3. I had the same pixel issue when I switched from a CRT to an LCD monitor in warcraft 3. It was only during the menu though - the right frame would not go all the way to the top and you see the background dynamic image...

Unfortunately that is highly unlikely because memory and hard drives are virtually at all time lows, processors won't be coming down for another few months, and this model is just too new.

So it is "possible" but not very likely. :(

Prices probably won't increase unless we see memory prices go up. Sometimes memory pricing is like gas pricing...it goes up during the Summer. But unless it goes way up we generally absorb minor increases in memory cost increases.
