flipp, would you mind commenting on the noise when the lappy is on/gaming. Any noticable fan noise during either situation?

nope you can barely hear the fan while not gaming and it doesn't really get much louder when gaming

Just out of curiosity in case you are already monitering it, what are the average GPU temps? I don't want you to go through any trouble if you aren't monitering them though.

Unlike geico, I do want you to go through the trouble flip, could you check the average temps after it's been on/you've been gaming a bit on it?

Could use Rivatuner or PcWizard to check.

    Thanks! :) :) :)

edit: Nvm, I saw that you went to Lathrup. I graduated from Groves, very close to your school.

The extra GB of system RAM deff will make a difference due the fact that he is running with Vista. If it doesn't make a difference, ten basic computing logical can just go out the window.

Well at least to actual world performance of the system, who knows with 3Dmark.

I think 3dmark06 is a GPU/CPU intensive test... or maybe it's showing how useless turbocache actually is...

i execpected the cpu test frame rate to go up and that would boos my score. i kinda figured the gpu test frame rate was already maxed so i didn't expect an improvement there

That's what I was thinking, because with 512 on board I didn't think the card needed much else.

Any idea if they're coming out with a 3d07? lol

EDIT: Yeah, hopefully the extra gig will give us some real world improvements.

It's note 3Dmark I was really expecting an increase in, but I thought it would show at least. It's in real world performance you should be able to feel the difference.

So we all agree synth benches are worthless? :)

i think it's kind of funny how you all changed your tune a lil' bit after you saw it didn't really go up. i think this was already shown anyway. Didn't someone compare the 8600m gs and gt and on his gs 3dmark benchmarks he forgot to install another gig of ram the first time so those were the pictures he uploaded. He later said that he didn't put up the 2 gb pictures because it didn't go up that much.

so i got bored and started ocing. i got to 460 memory before i got an artifact while using atitool. i increased the clock in 5 mhz increments. the temp maxed out at 80 degrees. the fans are amazing btw, it's been 3 min. and temp has already dropped to 64 degrees.

    *update*
i got to 490 core 460 mem at 83 degrees. i'm a lil scared to bring it higher

Nevermind the new mark score, how much better does SupCom run? I'd imagine at LEAST 25 FPS now with another gig of RAM and an OC'd card.

yea i was hoping no one would catch that. i get my cardinal directions confused sometimes. lol what year did you graduate?
so i was playing supcom(lol) and i got 25 fps with 485 core 455 mem the temps peaked at 77 so i'm gonna try to find the highest clock speeed i can get and then try again.

    500 core 470 mem 83 degrees
the temps kind of maxing out at 83 degrees.
the fps stayed about the same it went up to 30 when i zoomed out a lil but it seems like 25 is the best i can get. also the temp hovers around 77 while gamign so that's very good

There have been many on the Lenovo forum complaining about the Intel Turbo Memory causing lockups and BSOD when on battery. Have you had any issues with lockups?

Oh no, you do NOT want to do that...it will mess all kinds of things up.

Don't sweat the Robson so much, it will be fine. However if you think you don't want it, just cancel that part of your order...it is not like they have already built yours you know...
