I know what you mean. It's gonna be a bit of an issue for me too. (see also: massive problem)

yeah. Maybe it's just my unhealthy interest in post-nuclear-apocalyptic wasteland worlds, or maybe it's that I find a rubbled Washington D.C. ironic when considering the moral wasteland it is today... but I am almost obsessed with this game.

Marek. Lookit this thread. Clevo aint got a machine to SEND sager.
    Expect delays until 8-11
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=279697&page=2

I got a cal tday from the boss, after a little struggle.

He said Clevo can't get the NVidia 9800 card, and to expect the earliest Sager will have them is 8-11.

Even overnight expect drop ship to arrive the 12th.

And buy World of Warcraft for godsake

    HHHHHHEEEEEEELLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

"Thank you for your order with Xotic PC!

We would like to apologize there is a slight delay on the 9262. Sager just informed us in the last 48 hours that a shipment from Clevo is delayed and they are awaiting for the shipment to arrive. This delay is caused by nVidia who wasn’t able to deliver a shipment of the 9800m video cards in time to Clevo, which resulted in Sager not being able to receive the 9262. The ETA for this model to arrive back into stock is 8/11/08. Your order will be sent to production at that time.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

I dont know what to do. Obviously, its not Sager/XoticPC fault, but I need the computer now or my other plans are going to be destroyed. IF the 9800GT comes on 8/11 + 3-7 days of building + Shipping, I might as well just wait for the 9800GTX SLI. This is terrible :(

About the most you can do right now is up your shipping to the fastest possible; otherwise, keep your fingers crossed. As far as waiting for 9800M GTX in SLi, my impression of how things are going is that you're going to have to wait a lot longer than the end of August to get that.

Thats my worry. But the 9262 have already destroyed my other plans. I mean I was suppose to get in this week go on holiday with it, come back just in time for other payments. Now I m not going to get the laptop for at least 3 weeks. So my holiday is going to be destroyed already :D I can switch myself into waiting mode but If I do that I m going to wait for the 9800GTX SLI. This machine needs to last me a long time. So it seems just not economical of not waiting little more and getting the 9800GTX SLI. Now If the GTX SLI comes in 6months then screw this but I have one month wasted already and I dont even have the laptop :( plz anybody have any info on the SLI GTX??

Have you had a chance to read through this thread: Help me justify +365 for the 9800m GTX? Apparently, there is some pretty strong opinion there that the 9800M GTX may not be worth waiting for.

The GTX is going to be based on a different core. So the card maybe worth it or not, we will have to wait and see once we can benchmark the card. :)

What would u guys do in my position!? 8/11/08 + 2-7days of building + shipping ... I m paying $4500 for my laptop and I have to wait at least 3 weeks to get it. Now I know nobody has the GTX SLI information but I really feel like I m the looser in here :( I won't get the 9262 anytime soon, the GTX comes out on 8/22/08 and my wallet is missing $4500. Say if I stay with my order, I get the laptop and the GTX SLI comes out the next week. Now If I had the laptop for at least that month that I m suppose to wait it would sound better but what If I get the laptop and the GTX SLI comes out soon after that. Thats going to drive me crazy. plz feel free to post your opinions.

    @MastaMarek:

Can I please ask a favor? Watching you go through these contortions is beginning to make my head spin. You would clearly be devastated if you spent $4,500 today to get a system with 9800M GT, only to have the GTX in SLi pop out a week or two later, thereby forcing you to immediately pay again for the upgrade; however, while you'd still be upset, I don't think you'd be devastated if you had to wait until the end of August or beginning of September to get exactly the NP9262 you want, and at any rate you're going to be on vacation for most of that time any way, and I'm quite sure that someone with your wherewithall can find plenty of other distractions to spend your time with during vacation.

So, my favor is: Please just wait until after you come back from your vacation, all rested and tanned (or whatever) by which time it should be much clearer when GTX in SLi will be available, and you can end up getting precisely what you want, without feeling like you got cheated if you bought second-best only to have first best come out two weeks later.

    Ok?

Yeah I ve already agreed with myself on spending $4500 on a second-best system. Now I can survive that but I ve already paid for my order and now I get the mail that I have to wait 3more weeks for it to be in my hands. In that case why just not wait for the GTX SLI and pay whatever is the difference and be sure that I m getting the first-best system. The unknown of the GTX SLI is killing me though :( I have to make up my mind pretty soon. EIther to cancel my current 9262 order and just wait for the GTX SLI and then re-order or spent so much money for a second-best system with a ultra high possibility of the GTX SLI coming out soon after that.

man, i have same problem, i was about to order, but held out.
I dont want to hold out to more than Aug.10, if i do i might as well wait for November as i am traveling for like 2 month ( will be without my new laptop :( )

I've sent emails to clevo, sager, and Nvidia about a possible release date..none of them gave straight answers....anyways everyday something new surfaces...
i am sticking around till the end :)

Just cancel the current order - you should get a full refund as nothing's been shipped to you as yet (I'm assuming :D ) - put the money in the bank to pick up a few cents of interest while you wait, and then see what transpires when you get back. Come on, if you're going on vacation - someplace nice and warm, with plenty of potential "company" I assume - do you really want your attention to the important aspects of a vacation distracted by a new computer anyway? If you did that, you'd spoil both the fun of the new computer and the fun of the vacation by splitting your attention so divergently; why not go, enjoy your vacation to its fullest, then come back well-rested so you can then enjoy a new computer to its fullest?

Marek, I'm in the similar boat. Personally, unless that laptop is dedicated to something (your apple) I would get my hands on a windows home server release candidate from microsoft connect.microsoft.com/windowshomeserver Apply for membership, it's free.
Then I'd dual boot load my apple and start playin them games.

Damb! the torpedos Spock! I think that's what I'd do.

The PC is 1.2 Ghz faster than your sager, with 2 cores. It'd run windows.

Check google. Dual booting my apple with Windows.

I would guess theres at least 94,000 pages about it.

My slow old PC I really can't do poop. Not even really school, well, cause its a slower 500Mhz. A Gift, I'm greatful for. I got far enough ahead to buy this Sager machine.

8-11 I didn't see any additional assembly time there. Maybe I need to re read my letters.

As far as the SLI's their a breeze to install. Maybe you could get them in a year when the price comes down, or the 'newest' ones are out.

But, I'm standing on my PC. I didn't like having to wait, but it's better to get a bad component burnt out in QA, then to pay reverse shipping fees, or wait while one arrives.

GR3ATL1ON, the MacPro is for my work and college. I do heavy, I mean heavy video editing so I need the power from the CPU mostly. MY GPU though is a plain and simple ATI 2600 something rather. I wont play demanding games very well, and the best GPU for macpro is now only a single 8800GT.

Ok, I have another question. Since the SSD drives are out of option I m gonna have to change my order. Is this going to work pretty well!? RAID0 with 3HDDs and 8Gb of Ram instead of 2xSSD and 4Gb Ram.

MastaMarek, weren't the SDD drives pulled back by Sager? Also, do you think it is a good idea only getting 1 year warranty on the parts for that awesome notebook you are buying?

Just my opinion, but I would upgrade to the 3 years extended warranty for parts, as well.

Those 320 Drives you spec are the fastest out there. Go to OCZ and read the spec on data transfer rate about SSD. Their slow.

Those 16MB caches exceed your processors front L2 so, they may have good range one way and not the other.

But a 5400 8MB makes a bottleneck. You'll probably experience very swift read times, and almost as swift write times., with the 7200 RPM 320.
I went lowest price included, and opted for a fast processor and 4 MB RAM (Windows only uses 6.8 on this motherboard due to chipset limitations. Besides the 4GB Modules available now, are only 667MHz, or around 1/2 your Front side bus speed.) When in a few years, or so they have four GB Modules that run at a full 800 MHz (Or around half the FSB speed I'll have when I get a xeon like your apple has a pair of. It will make the FSB of the PC work same speed as your apple presumably or 1600MHz)

As far as only editing video with it. ATI may not be SLI capable on your apple. But I daresay it would run windows (you probably don't have room for it though. Get a passport drive. a 100GB Outboard one. USB 2.0 is probably fast enough to support your vidoes you'd have to move.

Two 1600MHz busses in series at 1600+1600 or parallel at 1600x2 would run most video games on your stock 2002 64 mb video card.

    Check this out http://www.pcworld.com/article/136649-3/in_pictures_the_most_notable_notebooks_of_2007.html

It's the fastest windows notebook out there. Your computer. No lie!!!!

I wish I would've seen a price like that when I shopped. Crap.

And like I said in my former post, you can get the release candidate of windows server or can for free. Don't forget to get the product key there also.

Couldn't cost nothing to try it, and it would occupy your time, very well.

I need to find a hobby myself.

I think I'll start reading about apples running windows,

    Later.

Haha, Yeah I m actually tempted to install Windows on my MacPro, just out of curiosity. But I dont want to spend extra $ on the OS right now.

Hey, I know this topic was probably talked over million times, but maybe I should switch to the 1680LCD instead of 1920. Does anyone has any opinions about the lower res LCD. Does it have the same response time, contrast, viewing angles etc. ?? ALso what do u think about the 8Gb ram for games. It only runs at 667Mhz. Is it still better to have more space for the systes to reach the files or have smaller but a faster ram memory??
    thx in advance

So, if I were to get sli 9800gt's and I felt like upgrading once 9800gtx's are out, it wouldn't be more than simply buying these new cards and sticking them in? No new motherboard?

Are the Intel 9000 quad series nearing their end? How high do you guys think the processors will get before the motherboard won't support it?

If a GTX gives a 10% improvement over the GT, then a SLI gives about 20% improvement over the GT SLI, and if you factor that the CPU is a major component of any gaming rig (obviously), the real-world improvement of a GTX SLI over a GT is about 10%. That's all assuming that's all the GTX offers, really, though. If it's enough, I might switch from the GT, but it'd need to be alot more than overall 10%

I'm also wondering the same - will the q9650 be the last for the 9262? also is the difference b/w the 9550 and the 9650 just 200mhz and nothing else? people seem to be anticipating that more than just a 200mhz boost

i'm still waiting for my 9262... i wouldn't mind waiting another few days after the 11th when they get more from clevo to upgrade to the 9650

Plz guys, I need to decide pretty soon. Is it worth getting the 8Gb ram for the 9262?? I ll only will be using this windows machine for games. All my pro apps are on mac os x platform. 8gb is only 667Mhz though and the Q9550 is 1333Mhz, so the ram runs at less than half the speed of the FSB but there is a lot of it. Whats the better option for gameplay??

It's not worth it. Even Crysis wouldn't use half of that. I personally want to see 1333 RAM that i can stick in there. I might upgrade when/if it comes out.

No, it really isn't worth the money at this point to get the 8GB unless you're going to be doing massive amounts of extreme video editing or the like. Also, on the NP9262, the FSB clock is only 1066MHz, which may limit the system a little (but not, I think, noticeably), and since the RAM is DDR2, its effective frequency is, actually, 1333MHz (2 x 667MHz, approximately).

Unfortunately Shyster, here you are wrong...DDR2 667 actually runs at 333MHz, 667 is already doubled from that, so it DOES NOT run at an effective freq of 1333, but at an effective freq of 667.

ok guys, this is whats happening with my order. I ve put it on hole till the Q9650 but I m gonna call XoticPc on monday and ask them how long do I have to wait for it. If it wont be ready by this week I m going with this config:
    17' WUXGA
    Q9550
    8Gb DDR2 667
    9800GT SLI
    3x320 7200rpm 16Mb SATAII RAID 0
    Sound Blaster Xi-Fi
    Zalman NC2000
    Vista 64Bit Ultimate

or if the Q9650 will be available the next week then I ll change my order to:

    17' WUXGA
    Q9650
    4Gb DDR2 800
    9800GT SLI
    3x320 7200rpm 16Mb SATAII RAID 0
    Sound Blaster Xi-Fi
    Zalman NC2000
    Vista 64Bit Ultimate

I ve prepared my desk and my room for the 9262 arrival so here's a quick update on whats going with my room:

I was cleaning out my MacPro so I thought I ll post some pics cause this machine is fine piece of beauty.

    Thats my desk area

i ve hooked up my home theater to the Macpro but its only temporary :D My 9262 will be fully utilizing those speakers.

Those are the games I ll be testing my Sager with:

Great headphones, cheap and fun. I know those two word dont go together very well but trust me, they are good ;)

So anyway, I ll be getting my 9262 next week with either 8gb ram and 9550 or 4gb with 9650. I have UPS ultra fast next day air delivery so my 9262 is getting to me next week for 100% !! The review is coming soon ...

just curious here.. why is your 2 configs different rams? (4gb vs 8gb) do note that the 8GB has a chipset limitation to 6GB+ and imho, 4GB is more than enough.. :)

Awesome MastaMarek, glad you made the choice! I'll be hopping on the same bandwagon at the end of next week :) I think once you've ordered, it feels a lot better since it's done, no more uncertainty...congrats ;)

It depends on whats happening tomorrow. I m gonna call XoticPC and ask them about the Q9650. If its coming out this week then I m gonna wait and go with 4gb of ram. If its not then I ll go with Q9550 and 8Gb of ram as I ll have some change left. The chipset recognizes 6.8gb :D so thats almost 7gb to use.

Why do you want so much RAM? Is there any game out there that uses more than 4 GB? Even if there wasn't, you can upgrade later when the price for it will be multiple times less than it is now.

They'd want to upgrade to the 9800GTX, not the GT, because the 9800GT is a rebadged 8800GTX, unfortunately.

No my mac has a low-mid range GPU that probably will play any new and even upcoming games but only with low details so its like shooting big pixels.
BTW. I m topgear fan as well, can not wait for the new season ;)
