Ok guys, an update on my order. I ve ordered my Sager 9262 on July 24th With 9800GT SLI, Q9550, and 2x128SSD RAID 0. In a week time a get an email stating that the nvida 9800GTs are gonna be shipping next week, so they wont build my laptop until then. So I ve waited patiently till the next week and what happens!? The SSD drives are not available any more so I have to change my order. Thats what I did I ve changed my order to 3x320gb 7200rpm but that left me with some cash left as the SSD drives were pretty expensive. So I ve upgraded the warranty to 2 years. Still waiting for the laptop. Then the price of the Q9550 is lowered so I have even more credit left. XoticPC is so confused now and they tell me to reorder the whole thing so I get exactly the price I want and the configuration I want. Ofcourse that means another 2 weeks of waiting. So I did as I was told. Now The Q9650 becomes available so sent an email to XoticPC, telling them that I want the update the Q9550 to the Q9650 as I still have plenty of credit left with them. Now I ve called them and asked about the shipping date and they say its either gonna be end of this week or next week. What this means is that I ve waited a month for my laptop and I still dont have it in my hands!!! I am really disappointed. I am able to patiently wait but a whole month!!?? I mean thats not what I signed up for. Month ago there were almost no laptops on the market with good 9800M cards but yesterday I ve went to bestbuy and played around with the Gateway FX laptop and it is brilliant and it costs 1/3 the price of my sager. I really dont know what to do. I think if the laptop wont ship this week I m gonna cancel my order and just buy the gateway - its really a nice piece of equipment. What do u guys think?? How long did u have to wait for your laptop?

    P.s.
When I send them an email about the update to the Q9650 I ve got a response after 3 business days!!!

why not give sager a call directly and ask them an eta if you order through them since they will be the ones building your system regardless of what sager reseller you go with.

if you are looking at the 9262 you really need to be thinking sli, quad core, and 3 hard drives to utilize it's strengths otherwise another much less expensive laptop will fill your computing needs, like the gateway from best buy.

i highly recommend getting the 3 year warranty with a fully loaded 9262. skimping the 3 year warranty in favor of ssd drives can really turn around and bite you in the end. ssd drives you can always add, but extended warranty you cannot.

That sounds like an appealing idea; however, I would guess that Sager schedules all orders, direct and indirect through resellers, based on the time the order was placed or delivered to Sager's offices, so I would worry that cancelling your current order with a reseller and placing a new order with Sager directly would do nothing more than cause you to go to the end of the line for orders waiting to be completed.

Well I hope that the 9800GTX SLI wont be resealed while my laptop is being build otherwise I dont know when it will ship to me :D Meanwhile, somewhere right now GatewayFX users are enjoying their new machines.

well, isn't really the resellers' fault for the delay in GPU.. so you can't blame them really..

and that's the frustrating thing about technology.it keeps advancing at an insane pace.. after i've ordered and paid for mine, the E8500 showed up on their website, so i asked if i could swap mine to the E8500, and xoticpc told me i could, but that would delay shipment.. so i din't, because i needed my laptop urgently.. (or suffer withdrawal symptoms ;)) yep.. then WHILE they were still building my laptop, the 8800m gtx 'disappeared' from their websites and they now offer the 9800m GT.. yep.. and after awhile of messing around with my laptop, the Q9650 came in (i really wanted a quad @ 3.0GHz..).. yeah so you get my point yeah?

if you keep upgrading, its gonna take a pretty long time before the laptop comes.. so you have to know what you really want to do with your 9262.. get a good config, and stick with it ( try not to keep up with the updates before your laptop arrives.. its agonising..).. or you'd be better off buying the gatewayFX cos after you buy it, its yours and that's that.

    :)

I ve just got a pleasant surprised call from Justin from XoticPC and my 9262 is ready to be shipped today. I ve gor airULTRA overnight delivery so hopefully it ll get to me tomorrow and in the worst case scenario it ll get here on monday. Great news. I am so excited now. The full review is coming very sooon. Ok so here's my another question. What drives should I use for best performance on the 9800GT SLI?? Ofcourse I m gonna do full 3dmark06, pcmark test but I need a help on what drivers should I use :D We, mac users really dont know the meaning of the word "driver" :D :)

i'm in the same boat as you, well almost, i don't have tracking # but should have already shipped

but i'll be reviewing more of a workstation 9262, so expect a review geared towards CAD and editing app's

    plus plenty of pretty pictures

    specs in sig

also just got a lacie 1tb external, seems like the best choice, it has a real modern look to it, nicely proportional black sleek rectangular casing with a blue led horizontal light

can you run an hd tune for your raid array benchmark?

3dmark06 you will be mid 14k's.

stock drivers are fine no need to update them.

177 MB/sec avg. transfer rate is insane. i do just under 100 with my 2x hdd in raid 0, although i sacrifice that level of performance for manual protection.

the ultimate gpu benchmark is crysis (retail and patched game) i am very curious to see what you would get in in all high settings (Stock game) compared to me. i am mainly curious to see the faster cpu compared to mine in this game.

Ok, here we go. Everything stock. Stock Drivers, antivirus running in the background. 3dmark06 score of 14544. All nvidia options set to ultra quality.

    Some more details:
    cpu score: 4500
    Sm2.0: 5766
    sm3.0 6510

So probably with optimized drivers I can hit 15000 points. Thats a very good score, cant wait too see some OC'd scores. My friend has a quad cpu overclocked to 3.53Ghz and overclocked 8800Ultras in SLI and he gets 17000points so I m pretty happy about my score.

not worth wasting time with modified drivers. sager keeps up to date drivers for the 9262.

the only way you can overclock the gpu is through bios reflash which you may want to avoid.

Another small update. Doom3 in 1600x1200 with 16xAA 60fps+. I cant set it to 1920x1200, which is pretty wierd. Next game I was paying was STALKER. 1920x1200 everything set to maximum and I get 60fps+. All those games dont even sweat this system so I think it is time to install crysis. Let u know soon how it performs.

    P.S.
Anyone knows why I cant install Doom3 patch on Vista? I click install and nothing happens :(

Nice score with the new drivers!
For some reason I cannot install the updated drivers.
I know about the modded inf. file and all that, but for some reason I cannot add it to the existing driver folder.Any body have an easy step by step guide for installing the new drivers and inf. file.
Sorry I feel stupid for even asking, but I am sort of new to computers and still learning.Everything I do is self taught so please keep it as simple as possible.
And yes I have tried using the step by step guide in the laptopvideo2go guide and for some reason I can't get it to work.Easy way to add to your rep with any help.
On a side note in the Nvidia control panel I just noticed I have two choices in refresh rates, 60 hrtz and 61 hrtz is there any real difference in performance between the two? Also I can't get my numbered keys to work on the side of the keyboard anybody know how to activate them?
Any and all answers would be greatly appreciated.

This was Run at idle speeds
    ACPI
    Temp - Value - - MIN - - MAX

    Intel Core 2 Quad

    GPU Score 59 C - 58 C - 59 C
    9800 MGT #2
    GPU Score 52 C - 52 C - 53 C

That first one was at idle speeds, I am now going to run 3DMARK06 Scores twice to see how toasty it gets, I don't really know if that is going to stress it enough for you but I will give it a try + I am using my laptop know for about 3 hours straight. Sorry I don't have any new games and I am too lazy to replay my old games for a few hours to see how hot it gets this is the best I can do for now, so hold on for a few minutes.

Take those scores any way you want, like I said I am not really sure how accurate these scores would be during really heavy gaming situations so take them with a grain of salt.
    ....................
First run got 3DMARK06 Score of 14890 (Highest Score Yet)
    SMU 2.0-------------------------- 6002
    SMU 3.0-------------------------- 6615

    SMU 2.0--------------------------- 5981
    SMU 3.0--------------------------- 6591
    CPU score------------------------- 4546
    .....................
I used CPUID Hardware Monitor and ran both 3DMARK06 scores at 1280x1024 resolution and used performance in the Nvdia control panel.
    ...................
Sorry I can't post actual pictures of all my scores, for some reason they looked all messed up but I swear to you these are all 100% facts that I had to type in my self.Again these are all actual scores.
    ...................
My GPU also was at 77 C, so they both maxed out the same. The cooling system works real great and reduced the GPU's down to 58 C and 54 C within a few minutes of just regular web surfing, so in conclusion I would not worry about the temps.I am pretty sure they are all tolerable temps + I do have 3 HD's set on RAID 0 but I only have 3 x 200 HD's--7200 so I am not sure if they run any warmer or cooler than yours but I don't see why they would.

77c is normal don't worry. with max fans you can reduce that quite a bit if you choose. if you guys want to see how hot the gpu's can get you have to play crysis. 3dmark will not heat up the gpu's that much while crysis will make you hit 90c (with normal fans), no joke.

Thanks IKAS. Ok so I ve installed Crysis. This game looks amzaing. I m trying to get it to run on a playable level though. I ve been playing HL2 on 1920x1600 with 16AA at butter smooth 60fps+. Crysis however is very tough. No matter what I do I cant get it 60fps. Also have anyone installed the Ultra Quality mod?? I ve compied the autoexe file and set it high detail as instruced but it is still unplayable. I need that 60fps+ so even when I change one detal option to medium the whole mod just stops working. Anyone has any good info on the Ultra quality mod for Crysis or have tested it?

duh crysis on 60 fps?! I think if you manage to get 30 fps minimum youre more than fine.
As far as I know you wont be able to run crysis at reasonable fps as long as you keep the settings high. Not at 1920x1600.

Ok, guys I had my 9262 for about 2 weeks now and I have to say, its an amazing laptop. All that time I m reading about alienware problems with m15x and m17x or about Dell problems and my machine is even more powerful and technologically advanced and it works and performs beautifully. Its just perfect, except of my touchpad which doesnt work very well. However I have not even one stuck or dead pixel, no heating problems, fans are always quiet, perfect build quality. Its really too good to be true. I actually can not wait until I ll have to buy a new laptop because it ll be a sager and I can honestly recommend the 9262 to anybody that is still undecided.

    i had 3 dead pixels w/ mine :(

but.... it's not that noticeable... just can't use a black background hehe... or any black screen shows them *sigh*

But indeed... 2nd week i've had it... and with some fixed issues here and there... I myself am loving every second I spend time with it

Masta, was just wondering, when you play COD4... do you play MP (might be a stupid question lol) and if you, are you hooked up ethernet? or do you use the wireless? and if you do you use your wireless, do you get random lag spikes?

The spikes might be due to your wireless provider. What service do you use?

    oooo I like that answer....

I use Verizon Wireless... DSL since cable is not available in Downtown Long Beach =(

Oh but wait... well... hmmm... I did try the wireless in another "free wifi" joint... but I guess I can't be sure there either. It was in a cafe... they could be using verizon as well (since it was in LB) and alot of people could be on it as well... *sigh*

Guess I'll wait to see what results this wifi will bring when I move in a couple of weeks

any luck w/ your results when you played via wireless ikas?

I have a very similar specs on order but my SLI wont get here until at least next week so I cant tell u how GTX SLI performs. There is one member with the GTX sli but he is not very active here so we have no benchmarks yet.
