I ordered online last Sunday and I got an approval email Monday with the 9800 GT listed and the correct price for my options. It's already shipped-I'll be getting it next Wednesday (UPS ground).

so the onboard sound for the 9262 really isnt that great... theres a constant high frequency pitch that is always there/

I'm looking at the creative expresscard x-fi, but first: it's expensive! (well around 50-60 used) and second: I already have the older audigy 2 zs but it doesn't fit in the same slot, the card is great! but apparently the new x-fi (first of all doesn't even use the x-fi hardware used in the desktop model) is a step down from the pcmcia model that I currently own

anyone have the x-fi expresscard? is it really worth it? perhaps it's better to wait it out, the card only uses software to enhance the sound, it's not even in the hardware (weird)

    thoughts?

I have the XfI Extreme on Express and its working very well so far. I cant really compare it to standard audio as I ve always had the XFi plugged in.

That sounds like some sort of noise on the circuit, such as possibly from the powerline - have you tried using a ground loop suppressor or some other filter on your powerline?

happens when it's not plugged in too, if you mean 'powerline' in the computer, then i have no clue what that is.

same problem with vista64, i think its the realtek sound card, i've heard people having problems with that

I meant the power circuitry in the wall, so if it's happening when it's not plugged in, then it can't be the source of the problem, as you point out. :)

    downloading 3dmark06 right now...

Sucks though, I didn't realize that setting up a dual boot was so involved. I'm going to have to wait until the dual boot is setup (which I don't fully know how to do yet) before I can have some fun with it (bummer).

yeah, you kind of have to have your software already to go, before you get your machine. that way it's just pop things in and go...

Yeah, I didn't think creating a dual boot was as involved as it is until I did a quick search on here. Ah well, I'll just goof off with it and do stupid stuff until I figure it all out. Hey, our machines are the EXACT same Johnksss. Wait, did you get the blu-ray burner? Ran any benchmarks?

Hmmm, gotta find a copy of XP 64, bummer.
