I dont think you will have any problems. Donald at powernotebooks said today that pre-orders should safely all be shipped out before the end of July, at that time the turnaround from order to delivery should only be 2-3 days. If you order early August it should be an in stock item. *knock on wood*

I want to use XP as it will run games definitely faster than Vista(correct me if I'm wrong).....
But can I hold on to XP for another 3 yrs or will I HAVE to change to Vista?

Anyone getting a high res matte screen?

If you are can you comment on its sharpness and birghtness?

I also take it that there's not much of a difference between the G1s's video card and the IFL90's... Even though the IFL's is bigger. How is that so?

You don't ever HAVE to change to Vista. I know plenty of people still using Win2K. The only thing you'll ever really need to switch to Vista for, are crappy games like Halo2, Shadowrun, and DX10 games.

Seeing how most games that are DX10 will have DX9 versions for at least another two or so years(my guess anyways) you should be safe on that front. Of course MS might try and bully something out of someone.

MS has already started trying to bully people but some developers fought back already:

    http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/06/26/1413239&from=rss

Basically, some games were released as "Vista only" but some crackers did the work to show that those games could be run on XP. Those games were "Vista only" not because there was anything required that only Vista could provide but because the developers who coded the games included a simple test to see whether the game was running on Vista or not and crap out in the latter case.

Do the resellers, like powernotebooks.com, put bloatware on the Sagers?

If you didn't order the TV Tuner, you probably don't have a IR reciever.

What do you want to use the infrared for? Some of the usages of infrared can be done through BlueTooth.

PS: In windows, even if the driver is not installed yet, I would expect the infrared device to show up as an unconfigured device in the device manager. That's where I would look. Unfortunately device names can sometimes be rather cryptic.

PPS: my PS is bigger than the main message. Call the Style Police!

its probably just included with all just the other stuff. not to worry about it too much... but if you want to try it out, try to connect a device to the computer using ir technology (ie. a razr to motorola phone tools.)

Definitely go with a reseller like Powernotebooks.com or XoticPc.com. Both are very reputable places to buy from and have reps that are active members of the forum. Also they have gread tech/customer support.

Look at the above poster, He(Donald) is one of those nice and caring reps ;)

Ordering from Sager directly you will pay more, and you will not get personalized service or 24/7 Lifetime support. Sager offers Lifetime support, but it is only during West Coast Business hours.

Well, so far the only game I have played was Unreal Tournament 2004 which is pretty outdated in terms of graphics. I did manage to play it at max settings with no problems. Hopefully, I will install Counter Strike Source tomorrow and post the frame rates from the stress test. Other than CS, I don't have any games that are great in terms of graphics because my old computer could not handle them. I do have some money for a new game or two, so any recommendations would be great.

Is Civ4 all that intensive? 2005 right? I don't remember it too well. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I just don't think it's a good benchmark of what the computer can do.

And if you could, maybe do BF2142, which might be a game you'd just want to play it being an FPS and all.

I ordered it on the 19th of June. BF2142 seems like a good choice for me because I like multiplayer FPS's. I have played Civ IV before too and call me crazy, but I didn't like it. I'm going to go install Counter Strike, which should take a while to get going because of all the updates.
