Please please can anyone predict a safe date when my 2090 lappy will arrive if I place the order in August 2nd week?.....Will it arrive by September 10th??
-
-
I dont think you will have any problems. Donald at powernotebooks said today that pre-orders should safely all be shipped out before the end of July, at that time the turnaround from order to delivery should only be 2-3 days. If you order early August it should be an in stock item. *knock on wood*
-
I'm fervently hoping mine will get here by next week -_-'
-
Thanks for the info sco fri....I was soo anxious to know that....
I want to use XP as it will run games definitely faster than Vista(correct me if I'm wrong).....
But can I hold on to XP for another 3 yrs or will I HAVE to change to Vista? -
Anyone getting a high res matte screen?
If you are can you comment on its sharpness and birghtness?
I also take it that there's not much of a difference between the G1s's video card and the IFL90's... Even though the IFL's is bigger. How is that so? -
You don't ever HAVE to change to Vista. I know plenty of people still using Win2K. The only thing you'll ever really need to switch to Vista for, are crappy games like Halo2, Shadowrun, and DX10 games.
Seeing how most games that are DX10 will have DX9 versions for at least another two or so years(my guess anyways) you should be safe on that front. Of course MS might try and bully something out of someone. -
MS has already started trying to bully people but some developers fought back already:
http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/06/26/1413239&from=rss
Basically, some games were released as "Vista only" but some crackers did the work to show that those games could be run on XP. Those games were "Vista only" not because there was anything required that only Vista could provide but because the developers who coded the games included a simple test to see whether the game was running on Vista or not and crap out in the latter case. -
Do the resellers, like powernotebooks.com, put bloatware on the Sagers?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
No Bloatware!
That stuff is awful. -
Heheheheh, everybody *knows* we need more copies of trial Norton-Antivirus ~_~

It's like an onion...
-
Why an onion? Cakes have layers too
-
Cakes are mostly enjoyable... unlike raw onions -
-
That's why he said "mostly" ;o
-
... strange turn of events here... haha

...I like using Ellipsis...

does anyone know if the IFL90 has a built in infrared reciever? i have drivers for it but i'm not sure i have it.
-
-
What do you want to use the infrared for? Some of the usages of infrared can be done through BlueTooth.
PS: In windows, even if the driver is not installed yet, I would expect the infrared device to show up as an unconfigured device in the device manager. That's where I would look. Unfortunately device names can sometimes be rather cryptic.
PPS: my PS is bigger than the main message. Call the Style Police! -
-
its probably just included with all just the other stuff. not to worry about it too much... but if you want to try it out, try to connect a device to the computer using ir technology (ie. a razr to motorola phone tools.)
-
Yup,I guess I'll go with XP for my lappy....
Do you think its better that I order it from the official Sager website or a re-seller like Powernotebooks? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
-
Definitely go with a reseller like Powernotebooks.com or XoticPc.com. Both are very reputable places to buy from and have reps that are active members of the forum. Also they have gread tech/customer support.
Look at the above poster, He(Donald) is one of those nice and caring reps -

ok,I'm decided on buying from the resellers, but my new dilemma is .....Powernotebooks or XoticPC?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Is 24/7 DOMESTIC tech support important to you? Only PowerNotebooks.com offers it for Sager laptops.
-
For all u guys that cant wait check this out http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=product
isnt this the 2090 and a july 11 ship date -
Yes it is.
-
And the waiting game begins for me *sigh*
-
o mixxster I see you finally ordered congrats. Guess flippoet's review was the one you needed?
-
@ Donald
24/7 Domestic Support would be really nice...do you have it in Ohio? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
It is USA nationwide toll free 24/7 Domestic Support
-
Hey Donald you want to read my FAQ( in my sig) and see if I can add any questions you get asked a lot or emailed a lot about
-
Soo looks like I'm playing the 2090 waiting game too... Just put my order in (Donald from powernotebooks.com is a great help, highly recommended)...
*counts seconds* -
I just got my laptop today! I don't have a digital camera, so I can't take any pictures, but feel free to ask questions. Also, the strange thing is, I didn't receive an email from XoticPC saying my laptop shipped. It just showed up at my door today, what a surprise!
-
What kind of screen did you get tootall88?
-
Oops, I forgot to post my specs:
Display: 15.4" WXGA 1280x800
Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz w/4MB L2 On-die cache - 800MHz FSB
Video Card: 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8600GT DX10
RAM: 1,024MB DDR2 667 PC2 5300 (1 SODIMM) (I bought another gig and installed it before I even turned it on, so really it is 2,048MB)
Optical Drive: Combo Dual Layer SuperMulti 8X DVDRW Drive w/ Software
Hard Drive: 100GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA 150)
Wireless: Built-in Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965 802.11 a/g/n
Battery: Smart Li-ion Battery (9-Cell)
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit
Plus all of the other bells and whistles that come standard (webcam, fingerprint reader, etc.) -
tootall88, I'm really only interested in gaming performance at the moment so if you have any games that you could post frame rates on that would be awesome!
-
agreed. i just want to see some real world numbers. i didnt really care for the 3dmarks anyway.
-
Well, so far the only game I have played was Unreal Tournament 2004 which is pretty outdated in terms of graphics. I did manage to play it at max settings with no problems. Hopefully, I will install Counter Strike Source tomorrow and post the frame rates from the stress test. Other than CS, I don't have any games that are great in terms of graphics because my old computer could not handle them. I do have some money for a new game or two, so any recommendations would be great.
-
Civilization IV + Warlords Expansion Pack. The new expansion pack, Beyond the Sword is coming out in 2 weeks, get that.
-
Is Civ4 all that intensive? 2005 right? I don't remember it too well. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I just don't think it's a good benchmark of what the computer can do.
And if you could, maybe do BF2142, which might be a game you'd just want to play it being an FPS and all. -
i would say crysis and assassin's creed but then again by those games are released everyone would have already gotten their laptop by then
I vote for BF2142 and Shadow of Chernobyl(S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) -
When did you order your Sager, tootall88?
