uhm. would the 8700m be even possible to fit in a 15.4 chassis with all the excess heat?

I would be the first to try. Think of how awesome the performance would be with that card, and perhaps some better drivers. That machine would be able to play anything(well, until we actually see DX10, I mean).

And yeah, i did get teh WXGA.

It's scheduled for a monday delivery, so I think most other pics and reveiews will be up by then.

I don't know if I have time for a full review. If it had come on Friday or somethign, then sure. But my days are pretty full atm, fuller than when I was in school if you can believe it. But that's mostly because I don't wake up till 11, lol so my day's half over by the time i wake up.

Hey guys I was at college orientation for the last 2 days, I'm back now, and will definitely order the NP2090. Judging from the surge of unfamiliar usernames now posting about the sager and ifl91, I'm assuming that my shipment will be a heck of a lot later now that so many people have found out about the np2090. I just don't know if I can survive the wait while everyone else already has one. :(

Nice to see you back, mixxster! Yeah, we've got a few more peeps interested in the Sager, including myself, since I ordered mine a few days ago. I'll have to head off to Orientation soon myself, and hopefully with my new Sager!

Can't wait...the wait is the worst part....

I know it isn't definite, but my last email I got from Justin at XoticPC said that the next shipment should be in within 1-2 weeks. That was on monday of this week, so hopefully it will be in by next friday at the latest.

Um, I just went to order from PowerNotebooks, is it just me or did the price of the TV tuner jump up $35, I couldn't afford it when I saw it was $90, now it is $125? *tear* I cant buy from PowerNotebooks at that price :(

Edit: Now the $90 option is available.

You should call them and ask to make sure it really is at that price now. Chances are that it is but it does not hurt to check in case there's a mistake.

We need to see more videos of games being played on these 2090s. I'm trying to make up my mind, but I need to see gameplay footage to see how the 8600m holds up.

Edit: I'm about to place the order on XoticPC unless I can get the $90 card on PowerNotebooks.

Edit2:Ok now I see the card on PowerNotebooks.

Donald, what am I missing by going to the standard remote? Am I missing the ability to record shows or something? It will still work in Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit, right? Does it have its own application outside of Windows Media Center?

Donald, I also sent you an email.

When replacing or adding RAM on the 2090, is there anything that you need to take out to get at it or is it just right there?

The most you need to do is remove a panel on the bottom of the notebook. Heres a video to show you:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QQImBBcTAg

Sure its an older computer and its not a Sager, but all notebooks are similar when it comes to replacing RAM.

You have to get the correct Remote to match your OS or else the Remote will not work.

I'm thinking of using BlueRemote on my Treo to control the notebook and see how well that works. It requires Bluetooth, however.

Personally, I don't really see much use of a remote except for maybe in a movie night thing or a powerpoint situation. Doesn't seem worth the trouble imo.

Could you guys tell my why one would want to go with Sager over the PowerPro or Force or any other the other ones based off the IFL90? Also, which reseller did you guys order from, and why? Both xotic and powernotebook seem good... am I going to have to wait about the same time for shipping no matter who I order from?

Sorry if any of those are stupid questions, I just started reading this forum.

I think the PowerPro costs a slight more because of the better warranty that comes with the Compal notebook.

I ordered from Powernotebooks.com because of the great service and the proximity from my home, but XoticPC is equally good in their customer service, so either one seems a good choice.

As for the wait times, I think both Powernotebooks and XoticPC have similar inundated requests for the Sagers, so it'll be about the same until Sager sends more shipments to them.

You're making it sound like it is the reseller that ships it to the customer. The reseller never touches the laptop, they have Sager ship directly to the customers.

Really? I had no idea it worked that way if you're not mistaken. It's even better, though, if the Sager warehouse at City of Industry ships, which means it's like an hour drive from where I live. :)

Wow, I had been waiting for the new HP 8510p, but with the wait for the ATI HD2600, and the fact that it's performance is still unknown, this Sager is looking like a winner.

At this point it is a total unknown when, or if, the WSXGA+ glossy screen will arrive in the US. The latest "word" was that it would be late July or early August...but until we see it in the warehouse we cannot be sure.

I can't decide between glossy or matte. Does that benefits of matte 1680*1050 outweigh the benefits of glossy 1280*800?

Glossy or matte boils down to a personal preference. Some people get headaches from glossy displays. You should try to see glossy and matte LCDs side-by-side and see what you feel.

Its tough to find any matte notebooks at stores like Best Buy, etc. but there should be matte and glossy LCD monitors for desktops there that you can check out.

Matte represents true color better while glossy tends to make colors brighter and contrast more. Its probably best to try and look at some first hand, putting visuals into words is tough. :)

EDIT - Your bigger decision with the glossy and matte models are what resolution do you want. Glossy and matte are secondary to what rez you want to go with. If you really prefer the WSXGA+ res over the WXGA I wouldnt let glossy or matte get in the way personally.
