ok, then what do you call a person that can afford 5 of them if not rich?
Perhaps moderately wealthy?
"hooray!!! I can rent almost anything i want in the world!!"

hey has anyone had any experience with craigslist.com?
I tried to sell my desktop about 2 months ago on it, had lots of scammers attempting to buy it, then one guy who seemed genuine, "accidentally sent me like 2800euro when i was only charging 700euro. This was a "comuication error with his secretary and asked me to send back the rest"
I got no payment, so i moved on and sold it to a local guy.
Today i just got an email from this retard demanding his money back as he never recieved his computer and he says he has proof of the money being withdrawn.
wow, a 2month scam? he is pretty persistant. -

yeah don't worry about it. its fake. same thing happened to my brother trying to sell his bike. ignore him. as long as you don't try to cash the check theres nothing that can be done. nice car eleron. Mine looks almost exactly like this, minus the lights.
-
Lol yeah craigslist is great, but just ignore all those scammers. Dont pay attention to them.
-
he is putting so much effort into it though. i really have to commend him, and then ignore him.

Just out of curiousity, would an SSD be perferred for gaming if it werent so rediculously expensive?
-
For loading times, yes.
But since the TU won`t have a RAID controller and SSDs are awfully expensive, a good 320/7200 drive would please anyone... -
I will upgrade to a SSD Sata II thats for sure.... I was told that by the end of this year the prices will drop in those SSD, just wait a bit its so worth it
-
Why isn't there so much talk of the m570TU?? Both the 15" and the 17" will be launching at the same time right?
-
there aren't much to talk about m570tu
-
The 570TU is not as big of a deal as the 860TU simply because the 570RU already fills its role perfectly. The TU will simply be a small step up to Montevina. The 860TU on the other hand, is the only competition to the Alienware m15x, which is riddled with issues, so it's a much bigger deal, since it could be the possible solution for all those who want a serious 15" gaming notebook.

-
I can't keep up with them myself.
@Anomaly does make a very good point, the 15 inch market is in desperate need for a sollution to the m15x. My God, you would not believe the horror storries I read there... -
OMFG! my supposed scammer actually sent the check! i have a check for 2900euro aka 4483american dollars in my hand!
this isnt my fault, how was i supposed to know he would come back in 2 months and still want it. -
However, if you've already sold the system to someone else, you're not entitled to keep his money - it's not a gift after all- you should probably simply write "VOID" all over the face and back of the check, in big, black magic-marker, like so:
VOID
make a copy of it for yourself, write a short cover letter stating that you're returning the check as cancelled because, since you had not heard anything from him within a reasonable time after he last contacted you and as he had not put any sort of a deposit down to hold the system for him, you reasonably concluded that he was no longer interested in the system and sold it to another purchaser.
Make a copy of the letter for yourself as well, then send the letter and the cancelled check back to him via registered mail, return receipt requested (at least that's what it's called in the US - I don't know what the European version is called), and make sure that the tracking or item number is written on the top of the cover letter (and then make a copy of said letter for yourself), and make sure you keep a hold of the receipt.
This way, there should be absolutely no doubt that you (a) didn't cash the check, or otherwise accept his proffer of payment, and (b) if he claims that he never received anything back from you, you cannot be held responsible for it since you voided the check to ensure that it could not be negotiated by anyone and placed it with a third party common carrier for delivery back to him.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

ok you obviously dont know my backgroun shyster. i have done all of this already.
Lol i just though it was funny that he did this. 2 months ago when i was in contact with him, he said he sent the check right away. the one i just recieved has 07-05-08 written on it yet only arrived today. after all of the emails i sent telling him that if he didnt reply, i was going to sell it to someone else, still thought i would be holding it for him. -
Lol obviously none of you have ACTUALLY had this problem. Just shred the check and dont pay any attention to it. The check is a counterfeit. The person is some dude from nigeria or something just trying to get you to cash that check, and have you send the "Accidental extra money" he sent you back to him. Then he gets the 2 grand of REAL money, and you are stuck with the police for cashing a forged check. Go on craigslist and read the scams section, im sure you will find your EXACT message, just buying a different item for a different dollar amount... Just shred the check and dont pay attention...or if you are feeling like having fun call the police or a bank or something...but other than that you are wasting your time lol.
EDIT: The check prolly took a month to get there because it was snail mail from nigeria... They just forward it from place to place so it has a stamp that says its from near you. I had a scam to the SAME thing, and it said it was from a bank in Nevada, and i called the bank, and the branch referenced on the check wasnt even real. -
yep, call the bank and have it checked.
If it`s fake, DEFINITELY call the police. -
When it happened to me, i called the police and the bank, and they didnt give two craps, but in the scams section of craigslist there are some places listed for you to call. I actually ended up talking with the FBI.

haven't read all 720 posts. can someone post a quick re-cap?

On July 14th, you will be able to buy the M860TU or M570TU from major resellers, the centrino 2 official launch will be August 4th. The m860 will have a geforce 8800m GTX only, will not support the quad-core, but will still be amazing and compete with the m15x. The M570TU will be a monster that will support the 9800mGTX and quad-cores. There are also huge arguments over supposed releases by other companies before the launch date, and supposed abilities to put the 9800m GTX into the m860, but they are fallacious until proven otherwise.
Any more specific questions im sure i can answer. Ive read all the threads and every page of all of them on these things, and im pretty sure ive got it all down, otherwise im sure others here know as well. -

So PCMW won't ship on mid June?
-
Well, its mid june now. On their site, they are currently saying that they will be shipping late june/early july. Im willing to bet that will turn into i dunno...sayyyyyy july 14?? It looks to me like it is just going to be pushbacks until the REAL release. But like i said, its only false until proven otherwise, who knows what they can do.
-
There is a LAUNCH SALE going on for the EDGE right now. The time draws near.
-
lol its funny cause the launch sale has been the worst deal for it yet

The Sager NP8660 (M860TU) will launch with the 9800M GTS (not GTX) w/512MB as well.
-
I talked to customer support on Friday, and I got this, "We will be getting everything in and start building the end of June and ship the first or second week of July" (aka Montevina release July 14).
-
So the smartest thing right now is to assume that July 14 will be the earliest shipping date
-
its like what averyone has been saying from the start! sorry all for not listening on my part.
-
yeah we all knew that....
To sum up... it is allowed for Intel, without any argument or critic against them, for being incorrect about their release date of montevina chips and finnally dealying for one month this realese, and judge by death sentecnce PCMW for being wrong and finally delaying the shipment of the units as well...
thats the story of this thread -
No, PCMW deliberately lied about that, and even claimed that the 9800M GTX and quad cores will be supported.
It's one thing to delay a product, and another to "enhance" it. -
PCMW have good reputation................until now.
-
But I think it is more discused the fact that the laptop is going to be delayed than the fact that may o may not support quad and 9800MGTX.... In this terms, Intel make public the fact that montevina chips were delayed like one or two weeks before the 6/6 (the release date)... I dont think PCMW do it delibarted, just never imagin that Intel could delayed their products...
One thing is accuse them of deliberatly lieing about this ETA and another thing is to acusse them for not being smart for not considering this and go ahead without having anything certain at all... At the end I think I'll stick with the first one, lol! -
Still allows for PCMW customers to have the laptop first.
Otherwise, the time is upon us, less than a month to go for sure. -
Ill take all bets on people who think it will be shipped before the 14th.
-
I bet all system will start shipping 8/15 WITH quad and 9800MGTX

-
I bet sager will ship before they do.
-
ill take that 8/15 bet. If clevo says no go, id believe it. There at LEAST would have to be a new rev, and i doubt you will see that a MONTH after the release.
-
I have this super amazing bet I'd like to make but unfortunately my bet is being held up in customs as we speak. But I swear: as soon as my bet gets released from customs, which should be any time now, I'll post it.
-
anyone phone today to see if anything happened over the weekend?
-
-
I'll take the Sager bet. Considering that you won't be able to even configure a Sager until 7/14, unless they do no testing and next day mail I doubt Sager resellers will be the first to ship.
-
Just because they dont release until 7/14 doesnt mean they dont have them there to test/assemble.
-
I just called PCMW today, and inquired about the change in status of the 9800GXT from 7/31 to "to be announced", as well as the processor
(full disclosure, i pre-ordered an Edge with both the 9800 GXT and a quad-core montevina on memorial day)
The sales rep went to talk to his manager, and came back and declared that the 9800GXT was garunteed to be compatible, but apparently either NVIDIA or the specific card manufacturer pushed back the release date, resulting in the delay. He garunteed that I would have the laptop before I ship out to college in mid-August. More information would come out in the next 2-3 weeks regarding not just the 9800GXT, but also a "completely new ATI card that is even more powerful than the 9800GXT and is compatible with the Montevina platform"
As for the quad-core, according the rep, PCMW's technical teams or a third party- he didn't specify- had confirmed that the QX9300 was cooler than the old-school mobile processors currently listed by Clevo as compatible, even though it was 44-watts, due to Intel's change in architecture...
take it for what you will, but PCMW swears they're telling the truth and will ship the systems as ordered. Also, PCMW has the option, if we purchase a 3-year warrenty, of upgrading the components at cost. In other words, we can pay the price difference at whatever time the 9800GXT comes out between that and the current card in the laptop, after sending our current card in- Since I purchased such a warrenty (I like to be on the safe side) the rep offered to switch my card now for an 8800, and overnight the 9800 as soon it eame out
take it for what you will, but I currently trust PCMW, especially since I'm in no real hurry to get a laptop, I can afford to wait and switch my order if necessary -
No, I am sure they have them now, but it would be hard to pre-build a custom computer that hasn't been configured yet. Not saying they couldn't do a general config and ship out if someone happens to choose those exact specs, but otherwise I don't think that you can say a unit has been burnt in unless you use all the components that the buyer ordered.
But who knows, thats what a bets for? It's a gamble. -
-
Oh God, here we go again.
The 9800M GTX will be better than the 3870, unless it proves to be an X2...
Synthetic benchmarking may very well improve ATI's score, but gaming wise,NVIDIA is still the king. -
Sager has confirmed with Clevo that the M860TU will not support 44W+ processors or the 9800M GTX because of the thermal budget!
