So will this laptop be an amazing gaming laptop?

I'm currently waiting for a laptop with a core i7 and a nice graphics card...the one sager has is too expensive...

Will it be able to play all modern games in their native settings and what would the prices be like?

I'm really excited about this...after owning a 1.6gig celeron, 60gb hd, integrated graphics 4 year old laptop I'm freakin ready to buy a new one...

Do we know for sure that the next GPU-gen will be MXM3.0b? Or is there a chance that they will produce a new modul?

What about the next gen GPU after that?

Im guessing it is not easy to tell, but just wondering what you guys think.

its unlikely the MXM 3.0b will die only seeing 2 cards (which were also on MXM 2.1 ....)

I've never switched out GPUs before, Clevo or otherwise. Is there going to be compatibility issues going from nVidia to ATI?

Most game are mostly GPU limited a Q9000 or P8600 will have no problem and you will see very little gaming improvement with a mobile i7. Also this laptop wont ship before late 2009, early 2010. And you will have to wait probably another year for the new nvidia to be release if you want to see a real gaming improvement over the m860tu

...by which time Clevo will be vamping up either a re-issue (similar to the M860ETU) or a new model for the same catagory.

I wouldn't be surprised if nVidia got a new set of cards out much quicker though.

Um, no, not nearly twelve months. Six at the most imo.

The 300M series is already in the new drivers, so it can't be too long.

That can't be good news for those intending to use the machine on the run, running GPU intensive tasks. The M860 was already under strain on battery, those who plugged in a 280M with a quad will know this well enough.

Hot sauce. Glad they kept the traditional orange stripe. I'd trade mine straight-up for one of those with the 2ghz i7 :D

Even though I want sli next, I still enjoy the form factor of the smaller 17" category. I wonder if they've made room for a 2nd HDD...

So is there any source for the speculation of it being out in a few months (or less)? I've been looking into the M860ETU, which is a fine machine, but if this is going to be out soon, I will gladly wait another two months.

    eh?

Anyway. Do the MXM 3.0b doesn't give any performance advantages over the MXM 2.1? It would be interesting to know why they felt the change was needed.

Make money? So we have to buy a new laptop instead of just upgrading the GPU. Buisness in a nutshell.

MXM 3.0b gives higher memory clock I think.

But at the moment, the amount of people who actually upgrade their GPU's after the initial purchase is still relatively small.

    loving the family guy reference.

But the computer looks great but I dont know how much I would like the keyboard. I never really liked the that style of keyboard on Sonys or Apples. The keys just felt too far apart.

actually the keys on most notebooks are farther apart then the computer above. They just have a 3d affect into the board which makes them closer, relatively to each other, but the part that you actually touch is the same or farher apart than the keyboard for the w860cu. Its just aesthetics that makes it look so much different.
