My P170EM should arrive this friday. I'm taking a gamble on the 7970m :O wish me luck!
-
good luck bud! My original order was for the 7970m, but I changed that up after reading here and deciding I would rather pay the extra for function vs. hope for fixes. Who did you order from pqueiro?

46kb/s = 368kB/s
(I think, anyway!)
I'm starting to have pangs of buyers remorse about my lil 6110, wondering if I should have paid around 200~ more and gotten a p150 with a gtx675....although I guess it's too late now. -
46kb = 5.75 kB

It came to me in a dream. Or was it a vision? Oh wait it was the popup online chat on mythlogics site. Supposed to go into build tomorrow or friday. If tests go well and pass QA, Hopefully will have a shipdate mid next week. Thatll put it at 15 Business days, which is the top end of the quote (10-15 business days) due to the extra business the back to school sale caused. Wish I Had ordered a week earlier and missed the sale as it didnt help my price much. Either way. Progress.
-
Maybe the heat is just getting to me....
.....
7 days to go.
.....
~sob~ -
I ordered from a small Portuguese reseller. It was the only way to get a Portuguese keyboard, unfortunately. But it wasn't *too* much more expensive than other resellers, especially factoring in shipping and tax, so I'm fine with it. -
Oh happy days!
My sweet little laptop is finished by MySN's team and being handed to DHL!! I can't wait already! Hopefully I'll be able to get it by tomorrow, but even starting next week will be just great!
Happy, happy, happy!
Skyrim in HD, here I come! -
I too am still waiting on the laptop in my sig. I ordered July 24th, and if I didn't do the skinning option, it would probably be shipped by now. The custom build took 4 days. The skinning for the laptop monitor back is on day 13.
I could have had my car wrapped in vinyl several times in 13 days.
-
I guess the problem is that cars are not in as high demand as laptops
-
Next time, I should forget the skinning and trying to be cool, just get a bumper sticker and slap it on. Save time wasted (and money).
I keep checking my email as if I'm going to see a notification of being shipped (but I've done that for the past week every day). LOL -
I don't actually like adorning my laptops, especially since they are so very prone to stealing. Not that it would help much if someone will notice my laptop unattended, but flicking open a highly customized and painted laptop (especially if there's an alien head on it) might cause people to covet it even more, especially for selling it later on.
But yeah, that's not the main reason. To each his own, of course, but I just like the laptop to play games as it should and get out of the way instead of bothering me with flashy lights and especially stuff like that:
Samsung SERIES 7 GAMER transforming into gaming mode! - YouTube -
Funny you mention Alienware -- my now old laptop is one -- m9700 from 2006. I put win8 beta on it for kicks (2.0 single proc, 2GB RAM - ya baby!). Unfortunately, can't run some of the newer tech I need for developing (actually hasn't been able to for a while). I agree with you about flash. This was one of those times when I chose the different path where normally I wouldn't have gone for a skinning.
-
Nah, don't mind me, I'm just saying nonsense because I'm giddy from the news about my laptop. Enjoy your skinned laptop and may you have it as quickly as possible!
-
hope it arives tomorrow amirfoox.
so what tipped you over the edge to go for mySN (wasnt me was it)
trust me mate, you will not be disappointed. -
According to the DHL site it is indeed scheduled to arrive tomorrow, I really hope that's indeed the case!
What tipped me over was actually another reseller that caused me a lot of headaches, so I searched for a reseller that has a good reputation, and so far MySN didn't fail me since they really went out of their way to help and send me the laptop as quickly as possible. I'm glad I went with them.
Now let's see the beauty when it arrives -
Looking forward to your review. Very similar to mine.
-
Yeah, except you have a CPU two levels above mine
I hope it will suffice, though.
Will do on that review.. -
where is it in the uk. mine went to gatwick and then overnight to heathrow and then next day out to me.
-
Germany, dude
-
ahh thought you was in the uk. hope your laptops not here then otherwise you wont get it till next week
-
Shh, don't jinx it!
'Dear customer, the following shipment Amir Foox with the shipment number XXXXXXXX has been handed over to DHL. Estimated delivery is 17.08.2012.'
Cross fingers -
Was hoping to see mine go into build today, but alas it has not. They told me today or tomorrow so hopefully tomorrow it is, so after testing what not hopefully will have it waiting for me when I get back in town next week. Would prefer to get it at my hotel while on travel but Ill take what I can get.
-
i ordered mine on 14th .. but the status still says "Pending" -
Got the shakes..... only if I had my new laptop. I'm sure that would cure them.
-
depending how you paid it can take upto 3 days for funds to clear.
i think mine said processing all the way through until i got the email to say it had shipped with the tracking number.
didnt bother me in the slightest. if it had passed it advertised build time then i would have contacted them for an update.
just check your bank to see if money has been taken out and from that day start the countdown.
as far as i know depending which has the quickest turnaroud at the time of order it could be built in either the uk or germany. -
I finally got it a few hours ago, and what can I say - it's exactly what I wanted and more.
It's a majestic beast, really the largest laptop I ever witnessed. And its powerbrick, wow. I can use it as a makeshift weapon if needed
This laptop indeed feels very sturdy, like a tank. I was worried about the glossy bezel, but I honestly can't even notice it.
They keyboard needs to get used to, though, as it is a bit aligned differently than what I'm used to, but that's the only disadvantage I can think of. I'll was doing windows updates and backups up until now, so I can't really tell yet how good it plays, but we'll see soon enough
Anyway, I'll take some pictures once I'll be able to get my hands of this bad boy long enough to do that..
I don't do benchmarks, though. Sorry about that. You have Meaker and hackness for that -
do lets us know how's the heating no this monsterand how your Coolermaster U3 handles it.. i'm thinking of buying one for mine..
thanks.. have fun.. -
congratulations amirfoox
told you it was a beast didnt i.
it would be interesting to see what windows score you get even though its a load of rubbish.
also why not try some benchmarks out. i only use 3dmark06/vantage/3dmark11 so you can compare to everyone else.
you can find all the monitoring and benchmark software for free in my signature below
now enjoy. -
My preciousssssss:
And yes, the headphones jack is indeed horrible as people say it is, since there are crackling noises in games in silent moments. I thought my headphone amp would improve things, but it made things much worse, increasing the crackling sounds. Once the sound starts, though, the crackling noises cannot be heard.
And yes, there are missing key strokes here and there. This laptop is definitely not suited for much typing.
And another thing that made me LOL: After an hour of gaming, and even though my temperatures never risen above ~65 C, the fans just never stopped spinning. I later found out why: I switched the nVIDIA's control panel global settings to maximum performance, and it appears the driver 'thought' the THX software, that lousy, horrible, THX software, is a high end application and never switched off the dGPU due to it. I had to add it to the list for applications that use integrated graphics and a few seconds later - complete silence
But overall, these thing plays everything I throw at it. An amazing piece of tech.
And sorry, I'm still not benchmarking it. I bought it for my games, not my ego -
so its the exact same keyboard pn 15 & 17 except your mic is more to the centre and the left/right mouse is slightly different.
would you do me one favour. go into keyboard lighting menu and at top right of screen see if you have a X to leave setup. i dont and have to ctrl/alt/del to close page.
these are my temperatures after 1 hour of MW3Attached Files:

yeh could you take the base of and pull out the gpu and cpu and tell me the serial number of the 4th capacitor on the left
strange as that what is shows in the user manual but i certainly dont have the X
just checked and ive got version 1.3 so time to find drivers.
thanks for taking the time to check for me.+rep
ps. how do you chose spoiler for pictures????Attached Files:

Right when I was beginning to worry that I'd have to wait till monday for my lappy to ship, I get an email...
"Dear Valued Customer,
We wanted to inform you that your order has been updated with the following status & additional information:
New status: Phase 4 (Order Shipped)"
awwwwwww yeah. -
yay, thats what we like to hear. its going to be a long weekend for you isnt it
-
Oh, hgarrett, I'm glad for you, but yeah, good luck surviving that weekend</snip></snip>
-
i always wondered where these spoiler tabs came from. me is a bit slow
-
Nonsense, you never know until you know
-
i dont know how to run benchmarks. could you run one for me and show me how its done
-
LOL! Good one!
I still won't run them, though
Edit: OK, that's not even funny. I tried running Warlock: Master of the Arcane on this thing. It just...loaded up.
On my Vaio it took me almost 3-4 minutes to load! -
it was worth a try lol.
so how long did it take to load on your beast.
fastest thing ive loaded up so far was power producer 10. on my m860tu which was fast it took at least 10 minutes to fully load. 2.5 minutes and it was done on this one. -
I dunno, things just fly over here. Loading times are just loading times instead of time to go make some coffee, take a wizz or even read a book. I'm finally back in the 21st century, baby!

Got an e-mail from Myth today confirming all my specs (since I've upgraded just about everything since I initially ordered). I am not expecting it to go into production for another few weeks. They know when I will be home and will build accordingly. No reason to make someone else wait just for mine to sit in a box. I am itching to see the paint. I won't lie about that... I'm excited about it.
System looks great Amir! Look forward to hearing how well it plays. -
HUZZAH, after clickclickclicking on my reload the last few days, status on mythlogic went to In build today. Hopefully with testing early next week it means ill be able to get it to me by the time I get back in town at the end of next week. 12 business days to get into build if anyone was curious on current lead time on myth.
-
@Xobeloot
did you go for a custon design chassis then. if so cant wait to see pictures. -
OK, I just ran a long temperature test.
I played a super-heavily modded Skyrim for 2 hours on the Coolermaster U3 base plate with the fans completely off (USB wasn't connected), and the temps fluctuated between 73-74C, with very short lapses of 75C and then back to 73-74C.
I then connected the U3 to the USB and set the fans to full power, and after another two hours... the exact same results. Lame. Plus the fans are of really low quality, and one of them creaks pretty badly. Those were 33€ well spent..
Maybe MySN did a decent enough job that the cooler is not needed, or it's just a poor quality one, but the bottom line is that unless you're overvolting and overclocking your card to the maximum, or you if you have a poor thermal paste job and lower quality cooling, you can safely skip the Coolermaster U3 (or just get the base plate, it's actually pretty good for everyday usage). As for me, I'll keep this thing disconnected and only connect it with more demanding games, but I'm honestly not that much content with it altogether. -
Of course I had to get my logitech g600 mouse in white as well.
Shall we call my build "Avalanche"? -
wow! thats going to look awesome and a one of a kind.
i havnt seen many lappys in the last 2 years that offer the paint or personalize logo on them.
@amirfoox
who needs a cooler
my room is about 25c at the moment and im melting but my lappy is as cool as a cucumber 40-50c on all cores.
just wish i could get a temperature reading for the 680. bloody optimus just gives the 4000
edit:
still getting the open cl error with gpuz but at least its showing my gpu temps now.
