    A sad day for the GTX 280M indeed ;) ( <--------this is e-sarcasm.)

    (BTW congrats man)

Edit: But do you think you can beat Tester's GPU score? You never know, but I think it's possible now that your memory can clock higher than the 9800M GTX and such, (though me may have the advantage with the higher clocked CPU)

    650/1025. So awesome.

I can't wait to see what a 260M can do in my hands. I don't think anyone's even overclocking them yet.

660/1690/1025 is the final clock for Vantage and 185.20. I will run it a few more times, and post the score. It's the highest it will ever get until I tweak system settings, find a better driver, or get a qx9300. I've been talking with john and benching for hours, so I wanna sure the last one is a good one :D

Not sure if it matters here.... but I've run my stock system from 100% to 3% battery power where it shuts down and it took 2 hours and 7 mins.

Not sure if that's an improvement over previous setups or not.
Thought you might want the numbers for comparisons or whatnot.

And that's it. I got a BSOD after a little while so I'm stopping that test there. 3dmark06 got artifacts at those clocks so the test failed. But who cares about 06 anyway?

Now time to actually play a game at clocks that won't roast my GPU heh

Another crysis warhead bench with the updated tool (64 bit!) and 185.20 drivers. Something's up with this game... how do I tie with a 9800M GS?

Convince Tavara to run the proper Warhead benchmark, then he'll see the truth. I'm betting it doesn't happen.

That's actually pretty much the frequencies at which my 9800M GTX starts acting up as well. The highest it goes and is able to pass a 3dmark06 run is 665/1660/950. So I guess the cards are pretty similar in OC capability. Still, very nice score.

I guess gaming OC is still ganna be similar then, but I can't wait to get my hands on a 280M now :D.

EDIT: I've just noticed you broke the 1000 Mhz on the memories. I guess this means they might be using 0.9 timing memories now... which means a stock clock on the memory of 1100 Mhz. But we need to check this out to be sure.

i can't seem to get very many people to use that one...i don't understand it..the hoc benchmark tool 1.2
but ill put it out there one last time...

    http://www.hocbench.com/

blacky...the reason why your score is so low is because your using the wrong drivers for benching 3dmark06...
the best driver so far is the 185.20 for games and vantagemark. they are just a serious pain in the butt to install most of the time. or at least on an sli system.

I guess you are right. But I am not so interested in highscores, rather in actual game performance. I also think one of the reasons for the low score is the CPU.

Also, have you noticed I managed to break the 850 barier on the memories? :). Long story short, I had to take the GPU out, clean it's connectors and then plug it in tightly.

nice! i remember you having problems with that. glad to see it fixed.

now about gaming performance...your still using the wrong driver...lol

i dont just benchmark...i also run around playing the game to see if it really is a good driver :)

    side note for everyone:
benchmarking for speed - games/3dmark/vantagemark - how fast you can run through them at your best gaming clock speed
benchmarking for quality - AA/AF/os settings set to high quailty/ccc or nvidia control panel set to high quailty and let application decide
    game play
    - running around using either of the first two while getting in to a serious gun battle with multiple enemies shooting

the three types of benching are in no way the same class of benching. people need to seriously understand this. the sooner people quit trying to classify them as being together the better off ones understanding of why...
perfect example is the gta4 benchmark. that benchmark plays out nothing like your in game play. not even remotely close. this basically goes for them all to some degree. gta4 is just easier to see it right out the gate.

remember, they are not the same nor should they be classed the same. each has it's own category...

That benching category has got me really confused. My benching is actually done based on the settings I use in games. I don't do any other tweaking. I was using the 185.68 drivers but then I had to revert to the 179.48 because with the 185.68 I can't play Empire : Total War, horrid artifacts all over the place with them. I am waiting for new drivers that are bug free. And the 185.20 does have indeed great performance but in terms of benching I never get high fluctuations in scores. For example the score I have here is with the 185.68 10200 and with the 179.48 I get 10160. More or less the same.

    example:
3dmark06 is best bench with your factory driver. just the way it is or you have to super over clock to make up the difference using one of the newer drivers. 3damrk/vantage mark are speed contest..nothing more. but with the exception of vantage mark not relying 100 percent on your cpu score.
and you could very well be correct about your cpu speed. 179.48 will beat out the 185.68 if you tinker with them...

yeah, i didn't think it was because of his version of software...

it's because he is missing something. that use to happen to me when i would try to run them frambuffer versions. it would get stuck about 75 percent through loading the opening scene. then i did some updates and what not and it started working.

but gonna have to say...these guys look pretty connected to me..but then...any one can make a webpage..

also do they still even offer the 0.24 to 0.32 versions any more?? i didn't see it, but didn't go in to full search mode either...( nevermind. i see the 0.29 beta up still)

Yeah got that ovolted file earlier but when loading into nibitor it only sets the core temp threshold higher.
Don't see any higher voltage settings over stock (stil 0.7v here) as far as I can tell.

I used nvflash.exe ovolted280m.rom it flashed ok but when I examine it by ripping the bios in gpuz and loading it back in nibitor it says 0.7v
So I think the ovolted bios isnt really ovolted at least thats what Im seeing

hmm when you load the bios in nibitor does nibitor show what the bioses settings are or does it reset to the default settings as 0.7v (under the voltage tab?) etc.?
    That could be it?
When I look at it under nibitor after loading the bios, the voltages exact mode is empty (no values are shown) under vid mode it says 0.7v and 0.7v

you cant even read it correctly looking at it like that.
you have to rename and save it, then reopen it to make changes, then rename it back and flash it.

if your not doing it like that...your doing it wrong...

now... Nibitor doesn't seem to support GTX 280m so the OC is without overvolting and the highest temp is 65
anyway here is my 3dmark06 score
