Been playing Crysis for about 2 hours at 625/1625/1000 and it's definitely stable. I'm running DX9 CCC level 4 at 1680 x 1050, it's playable but it's beginning to chug, I'm dipping to 20 on the Relic level right now, but most the time it's 25-35 FPS. Max temp was 79C on the Zalman. Keep in mind I'm overvolted and pushing high clocks...the P9600 maxes at 45C :D

I'm using stock drivers, are there better drivers specifically for Crysis?

that is exactly the kind of stuff I want to hear about the 280M. I am currently waiting for prices to drop a little, but I will probably get one by the end of the next month.

well...the card is rated at 108 degrees...that's about 18 degrees more working room that the 9800m gtx. so given that...you can run as high as 95 to 100 degrees

can we get you to run vantagemark?

it looks like the 280m overclocked is very close to the 3870 in crossfire stock. the would be the first single video card to beat my crossfire. i wonder. your vantage gpu score is way to close to mine. i am going to re run and see.

I'm impressed he got 13.5k on 06. My highest is 11,660 (stock driver), I know I can get higher, maybe 12k with a better driver, but I'm lazy... It's nice to know 14k is in the realm of possibility.

it's a two class scoring thing. you two are not in the same class.
your dual core he is quad core. it makes a very big difference in 3dmark06.

and you should be in the 12k range.... you would need to be cpu over clocking...

Yeah I know. I chose the P9600 for the good price/performance ratio. If new games benefit from it more or if I really just want the highest 06 score... I can upgrade later. 12k is the limit for my CPU speed, if I can even hit that.

    price performance?
    i bought a qx9650 because that's all i could afford my self. :)

and a p9600 can be over clocked to like 3. something ghz right now....if you can find out what your pll is for the motherboard and it's unlocked.

Found myself a new Crysis driver! Dox's 182.46

Comparing my "playability" benches (DX9 1680 x 1050 CCC Level 4 625/1625/1000) from stock drivers, min fps is up 5 frames, average is up 3 frames, and max is up 5 frames, to 25.95, 36.40, and 47.34. Quite a boost for a driver switch alone IMO :)

What tools do you use to overclock the 280m? I have the 5797 the rivatuner doesnt work and the ntune from nvidia sucks.

Nvidia's system tools 6.03. Or what you'd call ntune... hey, it raises the clocks, I'm not complaining. I like rivatuner, but I didn't get driver support. I'll try the new 185.81 when I have the time, perhaps Rivatuner will work with it.

    6.03 ntune does not suck.
and you use ntune it to over clock and rivatuner to adjust the cards performance.

    nice scores mr m.a.!

if you want to break records..you'll need to use 185.20 for vantage and edit 176.09 with adding your gpu strings. then bench them.

Got a new LG 32" 120hz 1080p LCD yesterday, so I'll be able to do some 1080p benchmarks soon to compare to 18.4" laptops, like the W90. And it'll tell us if that 1GB memory really helps. The screen is brilliant, and I finally came back to Bioshock and I'm actually enjoying it now! Smooth as butter at 60 FPS, 1080p, DX10, and it's more enjoyable eased back with a 360 controller.

I saw the LG 32" 120hz 1080p is on sale at Best Buy this week. I'm contemplating swapping out my 4yr old 30" Apple (which is starting to show some image wear and tear) for a 32-40" high end HDTV LCD.

got me a 11.45k with 600/950/1500 but the software crashes with anything higher than that... temp was amazing aswell, never went over 68 degrees while playing world in conflict for a few hours. this is magnificent coming from an endlessly overheating (100 degrees + constant) Asus G1s.

attempting to up the voltage soon

PS: dont use vista with anything less than 4gb of ram. i forgot to upgrade and ive been running with 2gb for a couple weeks now and its horrible

    got 7719 in Vantage - gpu : 6163 with clocks @690-1020-1725

and i think there is still room for a higher score
btw the first scores i got where with 2 Gb of ram and now i got the Kingston HyperX CL5 4Gb... i don't know if it helps rising the scores or not, but windows now boots and responses faster

I should retry my benching if you're getting that high, I was having trouble getting core and shader past 660/1690 with memory 1025... I'm sure you used 185.20 as well, so it can't be the driver.

there is plenty of room to get higher, but you need to figure out how to over clock the cpu and raise the front side bus. else the best you'll probably get is 6250 gpu (speculation on scoring)

you'll need to take the laptop either partially apart or fully apart. and find the ics chip and crysal on the motherboard.
    looks something like this
    http://www.plasma-online.de/index.h...a-online.de/english/identify/picture/ics.html
the crystal chip will be right next to it some where.. and have a number like 14318 printed on top of it.

its funny that i only ran 3dmark06 once at stock clocks since i bought it :D and never with Vantage until today

and I found something interesting, there is a huge difference between the original driver (179.27) 5113
and (185.20) 6199 (both are in windows 7)

slightly slower in vista (185.20) 6169

thanx, i'll try to find that number, hopefully...

im currently using windows 7 RC1 ,it's working perfectly and all the drivers & my programs installed without problems
