Also, if anyone was planning on running a IVB in the P270WM, you will have to wait longer as well - See Ahmed's post here - http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...ntel-ivy-bridge-cpus-delayed.html#post8131119

From what I can see by reading the tea leaves it look like it is very close to release.
-
This may slightly delay the release of P270WM. -
Yes, they are working on it. Again, all guesses here (no proof whatsoever), is that the release will be sometime late Jan/ early Feb '12 (six to eight weeks). But I have no inside knowledge and could be totally wrong here.
-
I cant wait to order the beast...
-
I really need a 54/34mm Express card slot.
What are the chances of having this on any of the new X79 laptops...?
Thanks -

great! numlock now can directly activate without +fn
and the gpu heatsink same with x7200 one? or new model? -

"American components. Russian components. ALL MADE IN TAIWAN!"
The new keyboard will be great. Even though I've gotten used to a 3 column 10-key a full size 10-key will still be a good improvement. -

First post updated with the keyboard information.

The new C2 stepping 3960x and 3930k will launch at 20th of January, no doubt P270WM features these CPU's upon release! Can't wait for this beast)
-
Is there anything new about the C2 stepping? Besides being a later revision, I mean.

39"6"0x sounds week...........hope it renamed 39"8"0x -

Does anybody know if the P270WM will support dual 580m GPUs? -

I just realized that the first post said it supports 580m SLI. It also supports 120Hz 3D gaming but it doesn't say whether the screen is Matte or glossy. I hate glossy because it reflects light too much. The i7-3960x is great since it has an unlocked multiplier. Do you guys think the 3960x overclocks higher and better than the 2960xm? I'm wanting to overclock my laptop over 5 GHz for playing/modding TESIII Morrowind (with mods installed). But I also want to use this machine to max out The Witcher 2 gameplay in all aspects. So I am asking a lot here. But I think this P270 may be what I need.

However, there really is no comparison between a i7-3960X and a i7-2960XM. A stock i7-3960X will kill a overclocked i7-2960XM.
PassMark CPU Lookup

Also the 3D screen version is again a seperate model scheduled for a later release...
-
-
For example, my Westmere-EP cpu gets higher synthetic scores than a 2600k, even at much lower clock speeds, but in games and most other applications the newer Sandy Bridge architecture performs better. -
-
depends on the game's muti core support
3dmark vantage for example: 2600k oc 4.5ghz vs 3960x 3.6ghz (same vga card setup)
ofcourse the overall score and cpu score 3960x scores much higher, but gpu score which represent gaming fps, 2600k scores little higher.......bcz the gpu test no longer benifit more than 4 core, but more on clock -
I am crying inside <3 this is amazing.

According to the FAQ here, the X7200 price is only a baseline for this machine?
Some good customizations for the X7200 put it at around 3.5-4 thousand dollars.
This beast here is projected to have a base price of $4000? That is crazy. -
These notebooks are so crazy expensive with desktop cpu and dual gpu's. They sure make you reconsider of sticking with desktop instead.
-
Mobility additions tack on a hefty chunk.
Still though, I don't think anything is going to avert my eyes from the P180HM. Nothing compares to a huge 18.4" screen like that anymore... -
1. The cost of buying the X79 chipset from Intel is much higher than it was to buy an X58 chipset.
2. The CPUs are newer.
Hope that helps you out. -
The x7200 suits me very well (apart from the occasional restarts due probably to some problem in the gpus - which i will switch with ati's new 7000 series)
But if i were to choose now a gaming laptop, i would probably not choose the x7200 or the p270WM for that matter.
1)Reason 1. Quad core sandy bridge cpus, esspecialy the high end one, starting with 820qm and higher are pretty powerfull. THey also have integrated gpus, meaning that can be usefull esspecialy in a laptop.
2)I know x7200 was not built for gaming as its main use, and i dont think the p270wm also is !
3)Even if the desktop 130w cpu is pretty powerfull, i dont think it has a low power mode or low power state like the mobile version probably has. Thats why when i sit in windows i hear alway the fans spinning, because the cpu is full power, even if i dont use all that power.
As a good alternative i find the m18x with dual gpus also and mobile cpus, and the ability to use the integrated GPU to lower power consumption. Not to mention the screen behind the glass window.
Another good alternative which im begining to like even more than the m18x is the dynaudio equipped MSI laptop with single 580m.
Now thats something built from the ground with gaming in mind, from the keyboard (steel gaming series) to the excelent sound output, and all other one button overclock or cool goodies (i know there is on x7200 Fn+1)
The only advantage i see for the P270wm is the ability to use 8 core 16 thread cpu, quad chanell memory and perhaps more than one sata Gbps 6 Port ( I know the sandy bridge cpu laptops only have 1 sata Gbps 6 port).
More than likely i will upgrade only my gpus on the x7200 and wait to see what other stuff will appear. I hope a ''Graphics core Next'' AMD gpu with 4gb of ram will be availabe to use in the x7200. -
The thing that I will miss if incase I get an M18x or the MSI G783 is the 3 HDD/SSD bays.

Oh and the lights can be turned off. -
dont worry, p270wm+3960x/2687w will blow away m18x+3920xm for sure(all core/threads fully supported bench), 3960x stock already >= 4 core sandy/ivy bridge 5+ghz......
now clevo is working on xtu......and when the time p270 launch the c2 stepping sandy-e will out too -

Well, when X7200 came out we said the exact same thing - the most powerful notebook in the world. And it was, at least in CPU benches supporting 6 cores. But there are too many other benches including games
So far the best OC' results for GPUs also go to the AW.
It will again be a very complex comparison. The p270 will have a 50min battery life vs 6 hours for the M18x. On the other hand the Clevo has an extra HDD bay and screen upgrade choices (but smaller screen), it will be more loud and bulky but less heavy. So on and so forth. When we had both the X7200 and M18x at the office side by side and totally maxed out, it was a really tough choice, half of us picked Clevos while half including myself - AW.
This time it's gonna be similar, I hope. One thing that really bothers me in the Clevos is the battery life, as I work on the go most of the time and learned the hard way to greatly appreciate GPU/IGP switching. -
Yeah, it really boils down to what's important to the person and what they want out of a laptop.
-
any eurocomm info or pics on this?
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
In this case, most likely ANY Clevo that has desktop CPU's like the the upcoming P270WM will not be for you indeed.

I respect your position here on NBR, and no offense, but you know these things already, and there's nothing new on that argument. The p270WM (and x7200 for that matter) is what it is... http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...cussion-information-thread-4.html#post8117207 -
Any info if updated 28nm AMD GPUs will be offered in this? January 2012?
