You still can't turn off that "hey guys, come steal me" design. Although it appeals to kiddies, some people doesn't want all that attention in some situations.

Good point. If I was an AW designer I'd definitely remove the glowing head, lol. Still, for me it's never about the lights or looks but rather the combination of features, long term reliability, warranty, etc. Give me a 17" laptop with an anti-glare IPS RGB LED, CF/SLI, extreme overclockable CPU, 6-10hr battery life, 4 ram slots, 4 Hdd bays, HDMI IN&OUT, built-in TV Tuner, 2 headphone jacks, expresscard slot, blu-ray, wireless HD, backlit keyboard with macro keys, anodized aluminum or carbon fiber chassis, 5 year complete care warranty with next business day support and then (only then and only for a limited time) I will be a happy camper, haha

You forgot USB 3.0

To be fair, the x7200 was the most powerful laptop upon release because the m18x did not exist at the time. Heck, the x7200 was even more powerful than the release m18x, as the latter could only be configured with dual 6970's, which were slower than dual 485's. If anything, the x7200 should be compared with the m17x r2, as they both use first gen i7 processors.
If Ivy Bridge desktop CPU's are actually backwards compatible, I expect the p270wm to even be more powerful than the m18x r2, unless the p270 does not support the next gen mobile gpu's for whatever reason.
As for battery life, it depends on the person's needs. For a more portable laptop, battery life would matter more, but most users would probably just use something as large as the p270wm as a true desktop replacement - something to take from room to room - so battery life wouldn't matter too much for them. -
Haha, I knew something was still missing in that list.
When talking about power, it's important to note the OC'ing potential and even more importantly the support from the vendor. Yes, we have the XTU for the X7200 and technically, we could move some sliders but we haven't managed to get any stable OC on the CPU at all. It exists only on paper with maybe a couple of owners pushing it past 4GHz with limited stability. So when it comes to CPU benches, the 2960XM scores far ahead in all single, dual and quad cores runs. My M18x even achieves 5.3sec in Wprime 32M run which is practically on par with the stock 990X and that's in a multi-threaded bench fully supporting 6 cores
So when it comes to power, there's more to it than specs posted by Intel

I didn't mean to say that the x7200 was more powerful than the m18x, but the x7200 was definitely more powerful than the m17x r2.
The point I was getting at was that the m18x runs off of second gen i7 and is newer, whereas the x7200 was last gen. When the p270wm comes out, we will see who wins this generation
-
yes, i dont like intel's release schedule these years.......
i think lga2011 release time better change with lga1155, so people can forget old gen high end and know the huge performance difference between high end and mainstream......not to continue comparing old high end with new mainstream, make high end sounds no longer high end
the ivy/ivy-e better swap too
-
Does this mean 6990M in XFire as well?
-
Yes 6990M Xfire is certainly supported.
-
how is the 580m vga heatsink? do u know its part number or do u have the service manual?
tks~ -
may have been asked before but does anyone know if the P270WM will support the new nvidia 600 series or ati 7000 series?
-
Indubitably - rest assured

This laptop is being advertised in Australia now as the Clevo x7300. I am not sure if the sale is legitimate or not though:

This happens everytime a new release is getting ready to be on the market....
A vendor or two posts it before it is ready to ship.
_ -
What does this mean? Explain it like I'm 5 years old, please
-
No 3D support for ATI cards is what it means. If you want 3D you can use the nVidia GPU range.
-
We are talking about the laptop screen, correct? That type of 3D? I'm an idiot...
-
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
Nvidia 3D Vision, basically. The type that requires you to wear glasses and have a supported 120hz screen. The physical connection and the software are different between Nvidia and AMD. -
Does anyone know when it will eventually come out? January / February or March / April?
-
it seems 蘇州博派 already got p270wm sample...

Thank you
I did order Sager NP7282-S1 but it was back order, so I cancel the order glad I did.
Now got to wait for this P270WM release, and hopefully do not have to waiting for long time. -

Not in January...

I'm guessing the one on the bottom is the Clevo.
-
Looking closely at the pictures, they are both the P270WM, but the light configuration is different.
-
A german clevo reseller told me that it will arrive in April or March because the testing hasn't even begun, but some resellers seem to test the P270WM already
-
I would wait for an official announcement by either Sager or Clevo.
-
Does anyone know if the p270wm will support three or more monitor setups using nvidia surround vision or ati eyefinity?
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
If ANY vendor has one of these it is totally a pre-production sample...period.
_ -
waiting for mass production!!!!!
-
hope this dont happen again
-
That keyboard looks very much like the best kb's out there, workstation class!
-
That really blows that it doesn't have HDMI-in. -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Clevo can very easily add the HDMI-in for this model.
One of the MAIN reasons they do not (at least for Sager imports) is the quality issue. Full HD 1080P is not the quality of the high standard it should be.
This is what Clevo and Sager has said.
- -
How many power supplies are needed for dual 600M cards and will there ever be an option for one BIG PSU vs two normal Clevo PSUs?
Does anyone know if Sager has a buyback program for the C900F I purchased from them over a year ago?
Does Sager or other vendor have a Preorder mailing list to get informed when they will have thier custom configuration menus available on their website?
Thanks- -
I think you mean the X7200 can easy have HDMI-In. Or has something changed? I asked specifically about this, and they told me HDMI input is not available on the P270WM, and looking at the pictures above, there isn't a port cover over where it 'could be' either like on the X7200.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Yes that is right. I should have clarified that.
The reason Sager did not import the x7200 model with the HDMI-in is the quality issue as stated above.
This may be the reason it has been left out all together in the P270WM...

So, is that the same legendary screen that's available as an upgrade to the P170HM? You know, the 90% gamut screen (or whatever it is).
Also, I am going to update the first post today with those images DXG posted, as well as some other stuff. -
Thats one of two screens, one is the LG 60% gamut glossy, OR thats the 120Hz 3D screen thats matte finished one of the two, leaning twords the 120Hz screen
-
^ what's the percentage of the 120Hz?
-
72%..............
-
ok it seems the subwoofer move to right side, and need to take out entire cpu hs to upgrade one of the ram....
