Can't you just cancel then reorder?
That's certainly what I'd be considering, if I had followed through and placed my order with the GT yesterday.
-
-
lol. Kinda reminds me of another company -
^^ Yeah I know right? At least they tried to please their customers.
-
I can't blame you, I probably wouldn't complain and just enjoy my laptop if I were you, but I think it's a reasonable complaint.
But when I buy something, I like to know what everyone else is paying at that time, sure, but if there is an 10% discount half a month later, then so be it, better luck next time. -
-
I think the REAL question is:
why does PCMW still offer the ATI 3870HD?
Has anyone here ordered, and received product from them? That company makes my stomach churn, very strange/sketchy.
-
Is that really necessary? Maybe PCMW's slow at updating their website. Or maybe they're just terrible at updating their website or maybe they're just terrible. There have been satisfied customers of PCMW.
-
If a new price is considered for the 9800m GT and is lower than what the original buyers paid for, they should get trade in credit for it. Of course, I'm sure that's already planned.
And you can't blame Justin and Donald for this, its Sager's misinformation that caused you to have that loss.
This just goes to show EVEN the most RELIABLE information can be WRONG -
They will be shipping first week of august same as everyone else. I got my machine m860tu (in my sig) for 1655 SHIPPED. How? Well I pre-ordered the sale before the 4th of july sale - whatever it was, then they gave me a 320gb drive for FREE + 5 years of lowjack because I put up with their shananigans. Then they price matched xotic's 3870 price when xotic came out. Not only did they price match it but they didn't include bluetooth or carrying case before so they threw it in! just like xotic has it so they COMPLETELY price matched it - and then some. THEN since both of the 3870 + 9800gt are the same price on their site I just switched it to the 9800gt without paying 1 cent more!
That's the way you get a great deal. ON TOP OF THAT they price matched the "cash only" price because they didn't care HOW you paid for it. Bought in on CC no doubt for protection just in case.
I'll have a review of the unit when I get it third week of august - after my law exams. You guys should'a just bought from them with CC when they had their "sale" despite what everyone said - us guys that did are honestly getting the best deal on this system. Whether or not the company goes belly up I don't care - I got a shot at getting this laptop for this price and that's fine by me - got CC protection in case of any more shananigans. -
the beginning of june all the way to third week augest, nice.
-
Like I said once before, in six months time we who wanted and were willing and able to purchase will have this laptop, the difference will be, what we got with it, how much we paid for it and how we are being treated after purchasing it.
Even if PCMW buyers don't win 1 of those catagories, they are certainly going to win 2 -

to everyone who is complaining: YOU ARE NOT GETTING SCREWED OVER!!! the fact that other people are benefiting from the situation does not mean that you are loosing out or getting anything less than what you paid for. i'm in the same situation as you guys (originally ordered the 9800gt) and of course i'm kinda jealous that other guys are getting my build for 165$, but w/e, good for them.
-
-
let me put it into a simple equation. Shananigans + delay = moot. -
9800m GT better then 9800m GTs? y a lot of people want A the 9800m GTS?
any reason ... i am lose here -
-
-
-
)
-
Sigh. Now we'll never to get to see whether the 9800GT performs better or has better battery life than the 3870.
-
so the deal is GTS is cheaper? but isn't the people who ordered the GTS get a free upgrade to GT?
also want to confirm, did the sager increases the np8660's base price?
sorry i can't remember the price while they offer the GTS -
yes the base price increases
-
Take your 9800 GT and like it boy.
Plus, we don't know the official reason for why the other cards are not going in the system yet. Perhaps they will go in later and the first set of m860tu's will have the 9800 GT. I believe with the m15x it initially only had the option of the 8800GTX and then included the lower end cards. -
-
As an aside...you know what?
If PCMW actually does come through with this order - if I were anybody else but me i'd be pretty cheezed off. Consider it.
All of you could have had my config for 1650 - price i'm getting. NO DOUBT. Instead of 2300+ what it's charged on xotic/power website.
Of course this rests on whether PCMW will actually deliver - but even if they didn't, think about it. Those of you who would have paid via CC for your order with PCMW are protected and you could have run to xotic/power right after no problem as price is surely not going up.
Yeah they continuously warned us, like bush's terror alerts - but doesn't mean you couldn't try PCMW to begin with then switch to them if it didn't work out..
Just thinking out loud here...if PCMW came through and I saved almost a grand if I were you I'd be pretty cheezed. -
Hmmm, it seems odd that the 8660 is so close to shipping yet this is just now coming up. Could further delays be in the near future?
-
Dear dada,
We apologize for the recent delay in responding to your email. We have
recently discovered that several emails have been misrouted and we are doing
our best to respond to these emails in a timely fashion. We appreciate your

Thank You,

Yeah, I'm so lucky! -
Good news for any Xoticpc customers who may have had the same unique circumstances as I have.
I initially placed my order for the NP8660 with the ATI 3870 configuration. Over the past week however I was in contact with Xotic to get the card upgraded to the 9800m GT, so that I could get the system before the 8/31 ETA that the ATI had. When I first saw this post I was kickinig myself for upgrading, as my payment including the upgrade just cleared yesterday.
So, I contacted Justin to see if the $195 difference that I paid for the upgrade to the 9800m GT could be applied toward the T9600 (which is exactly $195 more than the P9500).
I didn't know what exactly to expect considering that I had just paid for the upgrade within the last 48 hrs, but for how helpful Justin and Xotic have been up to this point I was hopeful.
Here is his response.
Justin@XoticPC said:1) Your order was placed requesting the ATI
2) You stated that you would upgrade to the 9800M GT if the ATI was not available at release to which your payment was cleared and order initiated in the last 24 hours. (we have email history confirming your prior conversations)
If someone has it on their online order and in the same circumstances as you, they will get the same offer.Click to expand... -
@DRTH_STi, the same config except lowjack cost $2000 from xoticPC, so I don't know where's your 2300+ came from.

Like I said before we don't know the reasoning for the exclusion of these graphics cards, perhaps those cards are not available for release with the unit as yet. Wasn't it mentioned that Clevo creates the enclosure for each card it supports?
Let's wait and see what Xotic or PNB have to say, because they obviously only got the orders to announce this change, but no details to justify it. -

Not making up those numbers bro. Either way even if you discount the lowjack + pay by cash that brings it to 2050 ish.
So bro. who wants to pay an extra $400 when they don't have to? Just saying...and that's not even taking into account the lowjack. -

Here is the reasoning from Sager:
"We were informed by Clevo that there is still a large amount of open bugs that exist with the ATi MR HD3870, and that the card has been placed as their last priority for release. Top priority is to release the NP8660 with the nVidia GeForce 9800M GT.
nVidia GeForce 9800M GTS also has no Firm ETA. Therefore we decided to close the pre-order, as we understand that during the summer with back to school purchasing firm timing is critical to many. Once we get further notice of a more solid ETA of its release time frame we will then again make the option available." -

Doesn't matter to me. I'll be out of the country til August 10th. This laptop can take its merry time to be shipping, once its before August 9th.

Other causes for delay are completely unknown at this time, and we can hope there won't be any, but until they are in the warehouse, tested ok, and ready to build and ship we won't know for sure. -
while i see a proactive approach to assist those that ordered the units wiht the lower end gpu's in the free upgrade to get them shipped out on time for school, i think it also is a bad reactive solution.
as a few others have stated - they ordered the item with the available gpu at a price tag of +165 (not 100% on $$), and recieve nothing to offset the benefit that others paid for a lesser gpu.
again, nice to offer and provide it to some, but do not alienate your buyer base by just ignoring the fact they paid more upfront for the gpu.
both good and bad in this topic and issue, but then i guess it depends on if you get an upgrade for free or one of the ones that ordered the GT and paid more for it at the time....
wonder.... -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Those that ordered the GT are getting exactly what they ordered and paid for, nothing less, and Sager owes them nothing more.
Just because someone else is getting a little more ice cream does not justify all this "...but he got more than I did..." whining like you used to when you were 5. -

$195 is like our half year spending.
-
lol.....
i got some ice cream....and you dont get none....
paladin...how goes...?
then why are they just not delaying the shipment of the lesser gpu's?
like i said, good and bad depending on which side of the fence one is on.
i can see your view as a company to provide a solution to something out of your control, but lets be honest....we are not 5 yrs old and this is money one is talking about, not a lollypop or icecream...

If the $195 was that important then proper money management would have suggested the order should have been the ATi card in the first place.
When the decision to buy the 9800M GT was made, the $195 wasn't that critical.
The truth is what those who are complaining here is about someone else that might have received an extra scoop of ice cream, and somehow those people feel they are being cheated because they didn't get quite as much.
Fortunately there have been several people who have posted here with more mature attitudes. -
@paladin,
Was the $195 added to the base price since the other options disappeared? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Actually, $200 has been added to the base price that now includes the 9800M GT instead of $195 for the upgrade to it as it was before.
-
Eurocom please confirm. Got a bad feeling they won't since there not sager.
But if the HD3870 is buggy... -

Alright just wondering, looks like Christmas came early for some
Hopefully I'll get my refund soon so I can get my order in. @Paladin, if I order the np 8660 say next week will I still get it early august or will I get it late august? I start school August 25th so...it's kinda important
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Well, considering the $15 for the carrying case plus the $5 increase in the base price that now includes the 9800M GT the total increase is $20.
Therefore you are correct that those that bought the NP8660 with the GT card before today will be getting it for $20 less than those who will be buying after today. -

What I can tell you is that at this time Sager expects to begin shipping in early August. Therefore anyone in the lower 48 states in the US can generally expect to have received theirs by the end of the 3rd week in August.
However this timing could be sooner...and it is still possible that it could be later. Until Sager has them in their factory tested ok and released to production they simply cannot be any more precise. I really understand how frustrating this lack of precision is for all of us (yes, us too!), but that is the best information we have at this time. We will of course be providing updates here as they occur.
The Sager NP8660 (M860TU) will only be offered with the nVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT w/512MB GDDR3...no ATi 3870 or GeForce 9800M GTS
