What??????????????
Beautiful.
Just beautiful.
We also need reclamation facilities, cell phone towers, air ports, strawberry fields and Wal-mart but I don't want any of those in my back yard as well.

Except lemonade is $0.25
-
he gave me a deal on notebook 300$ less than other resellers!
-
Which notebook?
-
Maybe the five year old is selling his lemonade at a loss to try to build a clientele and facilitate goodwill. Possibly for a forthcoming cookie and handfan promotion.
-
wootz!! DSS's back in business as it seems, and should be!
(haha to that guy who was trying to bring the name of DSS down)
gratz Shane, keep up the good work.
impressive pricing according to icehell.. we'll wait for his review yeah? -
I'm impressed by the level of maturity of Mr. Shane Collins shown through his posts. Keep on posting like that.
Looking forword to that review.
Trance -
Well said, I agree completely.
And also nice to know I'm not the only 40 something or older on the board. The youngsters do seem to outnumber us by quite a bit, though.
-
I'll be joining that very august group this November; it's nice to see that others here have gone before me!
-
Still 4 years do go, hopefully slowly
Trance
PS: Don't remember the last time I wanted to go faster. Silly me

Shane@DARK. Company Representative
I do ship to Canada, it's just not configured in my shopping cart software. Just email me about it if needed
Thank you very much for the kind words and the exceptional analogy.
We would, except he hasn't purchased from me. Currently the only review you can look forward to is ichime's.
Thank you, Trance.
I wouldn't say that
.
We may outnumber you but it's always good to have people of all ages able to help on a forum. And thank you for your kind words

Actually, Xotic is cheaper than DSS.
For a similair config, DSS is 2500 and xotic is 2550.
Lets look into this.
In the config, Xotic has 4GB Intel Robsom 2 TM, DSS doesnt. Also, they offer a free extra 2yrs labor. In addition, there is no sales tax, so the final price for the DSS is 2700, 150 more expensive than the Xotic version, inferior in terms of performance, and an inferior warranty. -
Which system were you comparing?
-
The OCZ one.
With P9500, 640GB HDD, 4GB RAM, cfire and for the Xotic, Turbo memory. -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Are you looking at their cash discount price?
If you are, I also offer a cash discount price, so subtract3% from mine as well.
And look closely at my warranty. I added the 2 years extra labor as well yesterday, and I only charge sales tax in RI.
Edit: You may be right, and my prices may or may not drop soon, because OCZ may have just changed their policy so you have to have a minimum order of 100 whitebooks. We'll see what happens soon. -
I find it amazing that from this potential destruction of the company, Dark Smiley has found himself with a group sale and more potential clients.
Nicely done man. Keep it up, you will go far.
You are impressing me almost as much as PCMicroWorks.
-
Come on man....
& this doesn't take discounts into consideration or any other "offer" floating around....
I left BT, Wireless and ITM out of both, make the comparison on level ground.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Well he was right on his configuration, there was a glitch in the shopping cart. Try it again.
-
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
It still may come to nothing if OCZ won't sell them to me for less than 100 at a time...
-
btw,when will it start shipping?
-
That is a crazy minimum quantity order requirment.
But if our Presidential choices have been reduced to an empty suit
and a sinical geriatric....nothing surprises me anymore. -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
They want to start shipping on the 15th, but there's no set ETA.
By the way, OCZ confirmed that they won't sell in less than 100 unit quantities, so ichime's will ship out from them but any others I sell will have to be bought from a normal distributor, so prices on my site may change compared to what is on the previous page. -
btw,when will it start shipping?
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Look at the post above, Xirurg
-
his just going in circles....
dont worry about him.... -
If i order a laptop from DarkSmiley, I demand a DarkSmiley emblem as well as a signature carving of a circle with a heart and the quotation 'Love the circlE' in the middle from Dark Smiley himself
Anything less than that, no deal! -
"Love the circle"
could become the new...
"Dude, your gettin' a DELL"
Just don't hire a spokesperson who will get arrested. -
but not, 'Love the circle', I would want, 'Love the circlE'
seems more demented and demonic like that.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
You'll get the emblem, but I'm not sure about that quotation - it might cost you extra
-
Well, for those who are interested, he delivered. Not being biased or anything, but the service and presentation/packaging of the product was professional and very good. Hope this would put some unease on DS's abilities to handle orders and other notebook reselling/building related items to rest.
-
i wonder how much money dark smiley could make
-
Out of curiosity, how long was it from time of purchase to time of delivery?
-
Interesting thread. I didn't finish reading near the end. Having recently purchase a NP9262, I did a bit of a research project, to be sure of what I was doing. I sort of see Shane's age as not all that relevant.
Having had a bad heat problem with the 9262's early version's I was very gun shy, even reading some of the review's here. I started seriously looking at the Dell's business laptop's. I was only marginally impressed, and the customer sales rep was okay, but not anything special. Couple of things really troubled me, though. 1) Resellerratings.com rating on Dell is dismal. 2). They discriminate. I could get certain things on the business laptops, but not on a higher end home machine. I don't like that. So I started looking.
Saw positive review of the 9262, and also saw PowerNotebooks name mentioned. Checked resellerratings.com, and wow, excellent. So I called Donald, and came away feeling very good. So I bought.
Could Shane have impressed me the same way. No reason to suspect he couldn't have, BUT a check of resellerratings.com, would show as it does now, one review. That tells me nothing about his experience, but shows a lack of longevity behind the company. At that point, I'd have moved on.
I wish him well. The challenge he faces, is building a track record.

It was roughly two months+ mostly due to OCZ (the "Sager" of the Arima W840 DI). They kept on delaying the US ship date, so it really took 2 months for it to start even shipping in the US to all resellers. Then, OCZ apparently sent in a barebone machine with a bad motherboard, which had to be sent back to OCZ. That period took about 1 and a half weeks.
After that, it took DS a day to build and test, and was shipped with UPS next day delivery. -
hm,then it is +1 to DS

Shane@DARK. Company Representative
I see this thread has been resurrected! Peter2150, I understand what you're saying about the resellerratings reviews, so I sent out some emails to my desktop customers yesterday to leave their experiences (good or bad) on resellerratings.com. So far only one has done so, and now I have two reviews. I know it's not nearly what's needed to build a solid reputation, but I'm getting there!
And I'd just like to publicly thank ichime for putting up with the whole debacle with OCZ, and not immediately canceling his order afterwards but instead pulling through and giving my system a chance. Oh, and he got a free WiFi card out of all I put him through, so I'm guessing that helped too.
Finally, I'm back in the game with these laptops. OCZ lifted the restriction on me buying in quantities of 100+. I'm excited to see what happens! -
Good for you
-
That's how a good reputation is built - one hard-earned positive rating at a time. So far, you seem to be acquitting yourself quite well. Also, congratulations on getting the training wheels taken off your purchasing ability; getting a major vendor to trust you with larger and larger quantities is a sure sign that you're doing the right things.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Actually, I think what I said may have been confusing - here's what I meant:
Earlier in this thread I mentioned that I could no longer sell this product, since OCZ put on a restriction that all orders had to be in quantities of 100 or more and I didn't have $100,000.00 on hand to spend on laptops that might never sell. About a week ago they took off that restriction, which means I can now sell this laptop model again, buying one at a time.
Sorry for confusing yourself and anyone else! -
send me a price for the barebone now.. lmk
-
Ahhh, thanks for the clarification. Still, from what I've seen, it looks like you're doing the right thing and slowly building goodwill with customers and vendors alike; it can be a hard road to travel, particularly since progress only comes in tiny little increments, but keep at it because in a few years' time, when you look back on today the progress will seem tremendous.
-
you guys are nuts. I am sure this kid puts together a great machine. Good luck to you, and I hope your biz does real well. Just cause someone is 15 or w/e doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing - infact I am sure he is better at it than the people putting dells together comon give em a break right?
He sure sounds very proffesional too! -
nevermind just watched that video... wow dude lol... that is pretty hilarious but you sound NUTS! lol.
still I am sure your systems are good. -
Nuts? Maybe, maybe crazy like a fox, too. Dark Smiley's hit a few of the standard bumps in the road, I'm sure, but so far I think he's doing a pretty good job - not to draw too many inferences from mere correlations, but I believe that ole B.G. and the Prophet Job himself also both started off as goofy kids running a garage- or basement-based business.
-
hey man i'm right there with ya.. read what i say right, i say give the kid a break, hes got a great website, clearly is motivated, I would consider a system by him sure... I'd love to see some customer reviews, and if darksmiley really should build a few systems and send em to people to "test" and "review" so we aren't just going by his word on the quality... build up some PR and marketing! Heck Hire me! Marketing student at NEU lol I'll help ya! -
he delivered a whitebook to iChime,,and he "looked" satisfied
-
yep, very satisfied, though I already did some mods to it with more to come
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
I wish I had the money to build review systems, or I would definitely be sending them out. Since I don't want to take out a loan or anything, for the moment I'm just relying on people having faith and buying a system from me. Oddly enough, this also seems to be putting off people from buying Sagers - can't say why, though, since I don't even build them. -
wow you post something praising someone...
and one min later...
you type 'nevermind'
haha!
