Good to see you're gonna stick around - changing your account was a must, sort of like taking off the 3-piece suit when one gets home from work, so to speak. :D

The next step were plans with companies that started around $1,000 a month. Since my profits were nowhere near there, I had to do a by-the-minute plan.

I'm not sure, but I think it was unlimited customers and around $0.05/$0.10 per minute?

Never professionally, but I always tried to maintain such an image and overall it seemed I did a reasonable job...except for the video that started this thread.

I'm not talking about the video. Everyone have their own private moment anyway. And everyone have bones hidden in their closet, if you know what I mean ;)

But seriously, you might want to read books about corporate imaging, etc. Just to add some knowledge ;)

I've been a lurker on this forum for a while now but I've never posted (since my laptop sucks so there was nothing to post). Dark Smiley Systems was one of the integrators I looked at when I was in the market for a new notebook before my boss screwed more over.

Having read this thread as well as the guru gamer thread I felt like I had to say something.

Let me say that I'm genuinely sorry for the liquidation of Dark Smiley Systems. As you should know the high end 'PC market is cutthroat these days, with integrators targeting an ever smaller demographics who are being battered by the current credit crunch. It probably wasn't the best idea to start a high end notebook company in such turbulent times.

With that said I have no doubt that if you had more time and capital your venture would have surely succeeded. However as a 16 year old your options were limited.

The failure of Dark Smiley system was caused by the set of unfortunate circumstances you found yourself in. You ran your business professionally, and it was no way your fault.

The members of this forum also did not help you by spreading slander about you and your business.

Again I am truly saddened by the closure of Dark Smiley Systems, and I wish you the best of luck in all your present and future endeavors.

Tecnically it was not slander as (afaik) there was nothing untrue said. I am not saying that I condone what was said/done, but it was not slanderous (or libelous if you want to be even more technical).

Wow...I've been ignoring this thread for the 7 days or so I've been a member. Having read the 1st 15 pages or so...skipping most of the middle and reading the last 5 pages or so I feel like I've read a book, seen a movie, etc.

    Great read...

yea lol that was pretty much my main question around page 10 of this thread when i was thinking about which laptop i was gonna buy, but i decided on a toshiba and havent had a major problem at all, except their bad customer service. it just takes a while to get something repaired with them, but at least it got done.
shane was awesome, and it would have been alot better customer service if i ordered from him, but my main concern was still the warrenties and going out of business

it was on their site, so i used it. i know it isnt, but its up there with 9800M GTX SLI, quad core, 8GB ddr3, 2 HDs, + a 3rd gpu for powersaver.

it was pretty good last year when i bought it, but doesnt compare to the i7's and new nvidia cards.

Unfortunately, it never was the most powerful, even when it came out. But Toshiba has to do something to get in the game.

I thought this thread was finally dead forever. Mods should have closed it day one.

i never said it was the most powerful, the logo was on their site, so i used it. all i said was it was up there when it came out last year. its fully customizable, can hold 3 graphics cards, 8 gigs of ddr3 ram, 2 hd's and quad core processor, all of this without any heat issues. last year that was pretty good for a laptop, but it wasnt the most powerful. the sager i was looking at could hold a desktop quad core processor. i was also looking at the whitebook with 3870s in crossfire, or the m17, m15, 1730, 5796, 8600.

i pretty much said this last post, when i said it wasnt the most powerful, i only got the logo off of their site and made several sigs, but the nice ones i made are too big in size.
