aaaah, much better now with the new thread title ^^
so anyways, concerning gk100: why would nvidia fire all their ammunition at once, when their "second-best" chip already beats the best AMD chip? in the end, its all about the money, so theyll just wait and reap everything they can outta GK104 before they officially introduce the GK100. that way, they dont have to do any significant development anymore (= extra costs) and remain (near)future-proof at the same time![]()
cheers
-
Pretty much... yeah.
Still I was looking forward to this card.
Too bad I will be missing on Optimus and I still have to put up with those crappy 16:9 screens. -
Here you go: Most Geforce 600 mobile GPUs are still Fermi
-
I'm actually not expecting GK100, they went with GK104 because of TSMC yields and efficiency. For some reason Nvidia seems to be moving more toward Cayman (6xxx) while AMD is moving toward Fermi (4xx) with their respective new cards. Nvidia has a strange focus on pure power and efficiency this generation which is not normally seen from them, I doubt you'll see a 'Big Keplar' though it exists.
-
That's probably a good idea because this thread would die if confined to AMD, not enough info from the red team to keep it going...
-
What the...?!!!
Whats the point of GTX675m??
Its basically a rebranded 580m, they are fooling customers, if I was going to buy a gaming laptop with an Nvidia 6xxm , I would expect it to be based on Kepler!
Not cool at all from Nvidia -
lol, join the club
-
You
just realized that? The point is, it's super cheap. Like, $30 more than the 560m. You may want to read the whole thread if you're confused.
-
I'll be the first to admit I didn't read the entire thread, but something tells me that 675m won't be a $30 upgrade from the 560m.
-
TheBluePill Notebook Nobel Laureate
I would say that 675M availability will be short-lived to clear out inventory of legacy parts. (Same with all of the re-brands).
You may be able to buy a Fermi re brand in April, but by August, there will only be the Kepler Parts available. -
Probably because the 560m won't be offered...
We'll get the 660m, which will be way cheaper too. Probably like a $100 upgrade or something. -
Shame, huh
At these prices, 675m will sell out way faster than August. Oh well, I still want one. I can always upgrade later, and this will free up a bunch of money for other cool stuff

Was supplied with this today, how do the score look? I was asked to omit the 7970M info, but it's not looking good for nvidia if its expected # holds true -
Ops, sorry, only yesterday I heard about the GTX675m!
Thanks for clearing that!
Well, lets hope 680m or 685m would be kepler based!
But on the bright side, I won't feel bad about my 6990m!
By the way, do you think high end MOBILE gpus would be able to run Samaritan Demo? -
No problem. 680m should be kepler, if only because there's currently nothing better than the 580m to rebrand. You might be able to run the Samaritan demo with SLI 680m's, but if it took 3 desktop 580's to run it last year I don't think anything currently released could fit the bill.
-
Hmmm, but they already optimized the engine to run on single kepler card:
Epic Runs Samaritan Demo on A Single Kepler GPU NVIDIA
And most likely its the GTX680! -
Yep, it's a 680
but there's a big difference between the 680 and the 680m. The 580m is actually a downclocked 560, and the 6990m is actually a downclocked 6870. Oh, and I think the demo is untouched, so no optimization, it's all the card.
-
The 675M is the 580M (rebranded) and should perform exactly the same. Now, when looking at these scores, take them with a grain of salt. You need the GPU Only score to get a good comparison, the total score is greatly affected by the CPU used. The 6990m is ~14200-14500 (GPU only) in Vantage, same as the 580M/675M.
-
AlwaysSearching Notebook Evangelist
You can get gpu vantage from the nvidia site. But as mentioned they
do vary a little between cards.
In fact the 580M is listed at about 16.2k while the 675M is about 15k.
They are definitely the same card though. -
Also, drivers were probably not the same across the nvidia cards. I'm sure that accounts for some of the performance discrepancies.
-
I'd never trust numbers posted by Nvidia or AMD. Luckily, the 580M was benched all over the place. The 16k is the overall score with Physx. GPU only is ~14.5k.
-
I wouldn't either.. Don't trust them lol.
-
I wonder who asked you to remove the 7970M scores, lol
We all know the expected Vantage P score - 20-21k
-
I'd like to agree and say its on the higher end of that range, but what do I know
If that's where the 675M is at, the 680M better be some spectacular or AMD's taking this round on the mobile front. Can't wait to see what the 7990M pulls. -
It's going to be an interesting one, nVidia just pulled off their greatest unveil with the 680 beating the 7970, and we kinda know how the 680M is going to be like.. the only thing left is AMD turn to shoot, the final 7990M
-
yes just like 8800m gtx renamed to 9800m gt......up series but lower class
heres guy who have friends work in amd listed:
his predict quite accurate for 6990m, but for me, taking it with a grand of salt

That would be a pretty ridiculous score for 3dmark11, seeing as the 580m gets about a P3600. If true the 7970m will wipe the floor with any competition until we see a real mobile keplar 680m, which I expect is still quite a few months out
-
Yep, if that score is real, the reds will have a decent advantage till the 680M and 7990M.
-
though the spec is wrong
(desktop hd7870 only 1280sp why 7970m 1536sp???)
(and he say gtx680m is kepler but 480sp!? that impossible)
but 3dm11 p4500~4700 is very possible, now 2920xm 4.2g + 580m 868/1880 scores p4895
i think sli/cf 28nm top cards with slightly oc can easily break p10000
-
Yeah, those specs are wacky. The 7970M here is very close to the desktop 7950, even clocked the same, yet less than half the TDP? Hmm...
-
The specs might seem true for 7970M, a nice 40% bump in performance! I only wish it could manage that level of OC'ability as desktop 7900 series cards (30%+). If TDP is accurate it's either AMD/NVIDIA are really going that energy efficient or we could expect some 7990M with 90-100W power draw later on)
-
The 600M series are now on Nividia's website: Laptop Graphics Cards ? Powered by GeForce | NVIDIA
-
just get reply from clevo, they even didnt get 680m sample to test yet oh god
maybe rumor till september is true......hope not
   -
SEPTEMBER? That is out of proportions, oh god no... I wouldn't be able to handle that, just geared up to last until April or so until 680M...
-
Is there any news regarding the GTX 660M? Will it be supported? (my biggest concern XD)
-
no.. you have to get a separate model than the p150em, the w150er
-
I thought that the P151em (the NP8130/P151hm replacement) is going to have the 600m and the P150em will be 670m/675m.
-
Won't the W150ER will be equiped with 650m GDDR5, not GTX 660M?
It will be really disappointed if Clevo abandons the 660M since it's the only Kepler GTX mobile GPU up to now... -
Maybe you'll be able to upgrade W150ER form stock 650m to 660m?
-
This is blasphemy, this is madness!
-
Nah, it's just funny.
-
according to this article the release dates are as follows:
GTX680M - middle of June
HD 7970M - end of June -
Too bad, not interested if they take that long. I'm tired of waiting, and the 675m is plenty already
I'm sure they'll make a nice upgrade down the road, though. -
Good find man. +rep
Oh please dear god let it be no later than June. Seriously if this is true, I`m not buying GTX 660M even if I get it for $50. What TDP do you guys think they will have? -
75-100W. With 100 W most likely for 680M.
I'm in the same boat will buy laptop no later than June. Which one it all depends on what's out there. Would love to see some info on 7970M though. -
Hey guys, Mythlogic just updated their website to include the 600-series cards
stock is 675m, cost of upgrading to 675m SLI is +$297
cost of upgrading to 670m SLI is $88!!! This is the P270WM by the way
-
Hmmm, I'm not too sure about the 7970M. Maybe it's only valid for Clevo machines? Cuz Dell is getting them ready by the end of April (announcement) and mid May (shipping). The info is semi-accurate at best but there's also a hint towards the 6-8th of April (showcase of a few AW models). Dunno...But it's getting interesting
-
Omg Omg Omg
Thats almost like tomorrow -
I guess it's time to check AW forums.
