Any word from Mythlogic yet? At this rate if the eta is heading towards later June. I'll have to rethink my order.

Sorry guys for being so vague in my first post. I did not want to do the same mistake as I did in the P270WM thread so my post was more for the resellers to understand, "come here and confirm". Anyway since it is now confirmed I add:.
Basically the problem is restricted purely to the gpu and the symptom is a black screen.
AMD Taiwan is working 24/7 to solve the problem. -
Well, that's definitely a killer problem.
I'm guessing the best case scenario would be at the minimum a 1-2 week delay? Probably tending toward 2-3 weeks? -
Hmmm, interesting stuff guys. Hard to be in the dark when we did drop some serious coin, unfortunately I think most if not all the resellers are trying the best to make this amd falter as easy as possible for us.
I'm in day four of production and I have no idea if I am part of the first batch. -
Took delivery of my p150em with 7970m this morning. It tears through anything. I'm sure it's not churning out quite as many FPS as my m18x with dual 6990ms, but almost (and no more microstutter!). I'm very happy.
Might just be me, but the p150em doesn't seem as chunky as my former p150hm...? -
I feel the same way, I may just have to end up getting the 675M
-
It will be funny if it delays until gtx 680m arrive lol
-
I was thinking the same thing... If it gets delayed for too long, it might just be better waiting all the way and then deciding between the two!
-
I find it funny that companies say that. Not you PC-Konsulten.se. I am talking about AMD. I mean they had better be working really hard to get it fixed otherwise my money is going elsewhere. Of what use is this information? AMD needs to give customers an approximate time frame within which they will have sorted out the bug and production will be back.

Let us just say Clevo management feels the same way and so do the resellers towards Clevo etc.....
-
Not sure what kind of field you work in, but when you don't even know what the problem is, or don't know what the fix is, you can't really give an estimate. And sometimes even when you do know the fix, but rely on others to implement the fix, it's hard to give estimates.
-
Just emailed my reseller. He said that they're expecting another batch of 7970m's on June 8th.
-
Who's your reseller?
-
I wonder if that's when the 3rd batch was coming, so now it becomes the 2nd batch, since the previous 2nd batch got botched?
-
I ordered on 4/23, so I hope I'm in the first shipment. *awaits email from Xoticpc nervously*
-
I'm not sure what you mean by apart from the 8000/9000 series. Apart from what series what?
I don't know if you OC your GPUs but I have used NV products for quite a while and I have no problem with the GPUs. Every one I have had performs just fine except a few times when my ambient was over 100 degrees and the GPU would get hot enough that I would begin to worry a bit. I have also used one AMD GPU (back when they were still labelled ATi) and I did not have any problems with that either. However, I have heard and read a lot of AMD giving a lot more problems than NV. -
Not sure what company YOU work in but when you make a mistake, you own up for it with more than a "we are doing all we can". Notice that I did not ask for a definite date. And you shouldn't be relying too much on others either. And if you have to, then you say something like "the problem lies here and here so while we cannot give a definite answer to when the next batch is available, we have taken these and these steps". Heck if you can't do that, at least come out and give others an answer. I shouldn't have to read this in a forum thread that is more than 50 pages long.
-
thats the next shipment? which reseller you have?
-
If the delays go into GTX 680M territory I will definitely switch. Especially if it means I can get a 120hz screen.

June 8th? That's going to be a long wait. On the positive side everyone waiting this long will probably be eligible for Windows 8 cheap upgrade deal. -
That's a terribly long wait. Many likely won't consider Windows 8 an "upgrade" exactly either.

Hey chill man. That was in response to your post. The point I was making was that ATI isn't always plagued by problems, and nvidia also can and has made crappy gpus like the 8000/9000 series which I think caused legal action to be taken against them. It's a known fault. And as it happens my laptop was never OCed, it was just the fault.
I just hope now it's only an issue with one batch for all your sakes, and not something worse -
What does that mean? Enduro being enabled reduces the 7970M's performance?
-
Shoot, I thought the email Xotic PC sent was only the first batch, so I thought I was safe. Could possibly explain why my laptop's been in Phase 2 for a little while now. Dreams of receiving laptop before Memorial Day weekend have been shattered... because UPS.com estimates a 4 day delivery from Xotic to my house...
-
It means that by having a Enduro system, your 7970M will not perform as good as it would on a system without Enduro.
So to get the best results, you need to disable Enduro which sadly means that the user don`t have the benefit of this automatic switching that Nvidia have with their Optimus.
Plus there is another problem, where Enduro doesn`t do the automatic switching because it doesn`t understand that it needs to enable the 7970M and switch off the IGP. According to the 7970M review, 60% of the 19 games tested, the system didn`t switch to 7970M. So the user have to make a list themselves on which games the 7970M should be enabled, and other programs where you want the HD4000 to only run.
Who knows, they might fix it with driver updates etc, but right now Enduro is not so automatic, plus its a fact that it reduce the performance of 7970M -
Are people getting an email from xoticpc about all this? I haven't received any emails and it seems like people are getting notified. My status in phase 2 btw.

Nvidia's main advantage against AMD
-
Here's to hoping I won't be delayed. I ordered two m4 crucial ssd's the day I went into production so that I could throw them in as soon as I got the laptop. Now i'm worried they'll be sitting for too long and by the time I can test them the 30 day immediate warranty will be up (since I've heard that SSD's that are going to fail usually do so within the first week or so).

I don't believe they have started sending out any notifications yet. I'm in phase 2 with Xotic pc as well. -
Better that they identified this issue now before so many people got them in their computers. Hoping they really ramp up production now.
I think Enduro will get better with driver/software updates. Remember how bad/buggy Optimus was when it first came out? -
Does xoticpc build them in order from the first preordered dates to lastest preordered dates? Or first paid to last paid? I am really hoping that mine is first batch
-
It's almost certainly a driver problem. I'd rather have the ability to switch manually, like on my last machine.
-
i dont see it as a problem at all, if i want to game then i can just easily disable enduro, if i want my laptopt to be energy efficient (without playing games and just internet browsing) i can just simply enable enduro.
the only problem i see that everyone is experiencing is getting their frickin laptops lol. -
I just talked to an Xotic rep on the phone, and he said that Sager has not told them any differently from the 24th for the 2nd shipment, so as of right now, according to his knowledge, they will still be receiving their second shipment even if other resellers will not.
Sounds like Xotic might have called dibs on the remaining 7970ms that work, or they are just uninformed. -

Thanks for the update. My bet is on the latter (not meant to be an insult). -
Has anyone heard anything on this 7970M snafu from either of Malibal or Mythlogic?
-
Nope. Not in this thread, at least. I've been F5'ing it all day (off an on).

I spoke to Jeff from Myth. No ETA on the 7970s. As soon as they hear something they will let us know..
-
^ Spoke to a couple of reps from Myth. Same answer. No ETA so they cannot tell us anything more than the fact that they will be getting a shipment some time.
-
Went to sagernotebook.com to see my options at this point (maybe you can pre-order the GTX 680M? Nope...) and noticed their ETA is June 12, 2012 on the 7970M. Pretty specific.
Source here. -
If Sager has that as the ETA and assuming they are keeping a safety buffer AND assuming we don't get even more unlucky, the cards will arrive at Sager by end of June week 1. Then ship out to resellers. Then another two weeks. THEN they come to us. That sucks.
I simply do not understand why some resellers even in the EU have at least a batch of those in hand and Mythlogic doesn't? -

JUNE 12?! ... ouch. OK so what's plan B guys? lol. I honesty cant wait that long. I am thinking cheaping out and just getting asus g75 w/ the 660m. only 1500 on Amazon. Ill worry about getting a diesel laptop 3-4 years from now. I just cant justify paying close to 2k or more if i cant get the best components.
I just want to play D3 already and some sessions of BF3 (albeit not in the highest settings). -
I just emailed Mythlogic. Maybe I'll just wait to go GTX 680M SLI with a 120hz screen with a Clevo P270WM. I've waited this long...may as well get the goods. Checking to see how long I'd have to wait for that from Myth...
That sounds like a good call. Maybe I'll just order that now and it will tide me over until the P270WM drops. I can re-sell then. -
That could just be for the newer orders that are coming in now. Not for those who were on pre-order, which should be the June 8th date.
-
The 660M can play Diablo 3 in ultra 1080p and get 46.9FPS in average and BF3 in high settings according to notebookcheck
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M - Notebookcheck.net Tech -
Yes, it is. That's why it's on the configurator/order page. Sorry...forgot that this forum likes to jump to conclusions. Should have been more specific!
