I still haven't received an email from Xotic notifying me that mine will be delayed. But I only ordered 2 weeks ago so I guess I'm supposed to sit in the dark as they haven't answered any emails I've sent them

Unfortunately the Sagers don't work without a discrete graphics card. The laptop freaks out and shuts down.

You may end up seeing this issue come up on different manufacturers as time goes on. At this point we only know about Sager discovering the defect, but I doubt that whatever the issue is, that it would only affect that one particular shipment to Clevo...it just takes time for these things to flush out with the major manufacturers.

This is one of the reasons we love Sager. They are 'custom' builders instead of big production houses, and then check things far more carefully.

I understand some of you are frustrated and you have a right to be. It is no fault of any of us sellers. It is sad to here some feel that we have lied or provided false information which is completely false. We advised allocation based on what Sager advised us on available 7970's for our customers. We wanted to pass on what info we had from Sager right away, as that is the right thing to do and if we were a customer we would want in return.

I am sorry some of you feel this way and we are equally as frustrated with this situation, maybe even more, as we have several hundred orders we would love to ship out to our customers.

On behalf of our fellow forum mates, we apologize for making you feel like you guys are the ones to blame. Actually, there is no one at fault here and for the most part we should be GRATEFUL for keeping us in the loop and CARING for your customers.

We will be patient, a virtue we all need a little more of.

Not 100% as there is a chance of human error and a update didn't get posted. Please understand there are hundreds and hundreds of people we are updating.

Thank you I really appreciate that :) You can be assured we are putting our pressure on the fix just as you are on getting your machines. We want to ship machines bottom line and get through our Back Orders.

I wonder if the resellers can try to pressure Clevo/Amd somehow or whoever is causing these delays so that they can get a discount and pass it on to us the customers.

I am still in Phase 1 with Xotic, but I ordered on 4/29 and received the May 16 update to my order that stated I was in "allocation".

I haven't gotten a 6/11 email and my fingers are hardcore crossed right now.

Help me Obi-Wan Xotic. You're my only hope.

Why dont you PM Justin@Xoticpc your order number... I am sure he would help clear things out...

Some things are just out of anybody's control. I received a mail from them regarding this. So I see no reason why you shouldn't receive yours if at all yours was delayed too. It does involve a lot of work and I am sure they would update you soon if that is the case.

Nobody is in the dark, customers are being updated... Just like building machines we can't waive a wand and magically all customers are updated. There is allot of manual labor here to send all of these updates out.

@thailandgod I have exchanged several PMs with you today giving you what info I have.

clevo/sager are the ones that actually saved you from getting a defect laptop that would have caused you to ship back your laptop and wait for a whole month to get it fixed.

it is suspicious from alienware tho for not being affected by this, maybe payed amd to mess up the 2nd batch reserved to sager? and didn't someone in this thread jinxed the 7970m on having a recall?

As posted earlier this is a project to have someone send all of these updates out. We will not be dont sending updates until maybe sometime tomorrow AM. Unfortunately we can just click a button that says update all, each order is manually pulled up and updated, one at a time.

It's not XoticPC, as it is Sager that builds their machines. All Sagers and Clevos are affected. So your only options are to either stand pat or cancel and move to Alienware.

Even worse, they come from California, no? Unless you got extras, I don't think they go thru XoticPC.

Well page 70 works fine now, but if you were browsing through pages at the same time a moderator was removing posts, then it would appear weird, and posts may move to different pages. FWIW, I have not had any difficulty accessing any of the pages in this thread.

Yes there is a delay in the shipment of the cards and it is for all Sager/Clevo builders. I really doubt the delay to 11/6 would postpone your delivery all the way to July. Mid June would be correct.

Sager would remove all the branding, so yours would likely ship directly from Sager.

It would ship directly from Sager. Sager is the only Clevo seller that is shipping so ordering from anywhere else if you were would significantly delay your order. As long as everything goes according to plan with the early June shipment allot of systems will be out the door the first week. I would imagine if there are no more issues or stock issues all current back orders would be out the door within 1-2 weeks. This is several hundred machines being shipped.

Dunno, but I believe the importers of Clevo parts include Sager, EuroCom and ProStar. Of course, those companies build too. They'd probably be getting their components from one of these, IIRC.

If what you wrote comes to fruition, that does not sound like good news for Malibal either, as they're in the same boat as Mythlogic from what I can gather.

I think most systems go straight to you from Sager, unless you bought extras that XoticPC explicitly has to address.

That's the case for you because if you got direct delivery from Sager (based in CA) you will have to pay about $120 tax. This tax can be avoided if Sager ships your product to a different state and then your product gets shipped back to you.

People outside California can get their shipment directly from Sager and not pay tax on it.

OK, just so I can get this straight:

Have all the retailers selling some version of Clevo with the 7970M received their first shipment of cards and are the customers who are waiting now all delayed because of the flaws found in the second batch? Or are there retailers out there who are still waiting on their first shipment to arrive? If there are retailers who haven’t received their first shipment yet, is it possible that they were not allotted any cards from the first (good) batch and that their first shipment is supposed to come from the dreaded second batch? I really hope that made sense.

Retailers, please feel free to chime in to either verify or correct anything I have said. Also, based on the e-mails that Xotic is sending out to its customers, and post #758 from Donald @ powernotebooks, it looks like this is an AMD manufacturing issue and not an issue with anything Clevo did to the cards. Is this correct? Also, has there been any mention as to what exactly the issue is?

Thanks in advance for any input. Just trying to get all my facts straight.

Sager has been the ONLY US company shipping so far. Shipments are still going out from the first shipment that had no flaws. :)

As for the flaw it was discovered in the 2nd batch of cards that were received, it ONLY affected the 2nd shipment of cards. The problems is a AMD problem and nothing to do with Clevo/Sager.

Thanks, Justin! Trying to avoid semantics, but when you say "Shipments are still going out..", do you mean shipments of laptops from Sager to Sager customers? Or shipments of cards from AMD (from their first good batch) to the various Clevo retailers? Again, I hope that makes sense.

(sigh) And English is my first language.

I hope it is just a minor glitch on AMD's part and it gets resolved quickly. If you think this bunch is mad, just wait until the Alienware crew start having issues getting their systems. :realmad:

What I am getting at with shipments is there are still some cutomers that have been allocated a 7970 but haven't shipped yet due to systems still going through testing.

I think it is just a minor glitch and AMD will get this fixed promptly.
