As I just PMd you if you do not get a email by end of day it is highly likely you may still be in the production run. We are still shipping 7970's daily :) :)

What time is considered "end of the day"? 9PM? I recall you informing me that 9PM was when Xotic PC closes for the night.

crossing my fingers furiously that I am in the first shipment...

The pages on the forum are weird because the moderators are going through and cleaning up the nasty posts, so pages will occasionally seem to disappear.

I got an update right away this morning saying I've moved to the production phase, but didn't get an email about the faulty 7970 shipment. Does that mean there's a chance I'm still in the first batch?

Well i got the 2nd batch email, and that apparently they shoudl get them in or around the 11th of June. considering i need the laptop by the night of the 22nd (after that leaving country for 2 months) with a production time of 5-10 business days + shipping (can only afford 3 day at best) i'll prolly end up cancelling my order and seeing if anything better is out in September~

Probably the most boring 2 months of my life incoming

If I get the 2nd batch email(which I probably will) I will also have to cancel my order. I can't wait another month for the laptop I also need for work. I'm also very disappointed and frustrated. I ordered on the 14th, paid through credit card, and wasn't confirmed until I think the 19th (xotic pc). No one answered my emails and I had to go into chat to get my order confirmed.

I am hoping that the AMD issues are not impacting non-AMD orders for the NP9150. I am on business day 9 of Phase 2 and am really hoping for good news before this week is out.

After finding out about the 2nd batch problems, I emailed my Xotic Rep Hutsady yesterday. He informed me not to worry that i was defiantly in the first batch. But this morning at work I got this dreaded email :

We regret to inform you that a problem has been discovered with the 2nd batch of 7970M Graphics cards from AMD. Unfortunately AMD had a flaw in the manufacturing of the 2nd batch of cards that was not exhibited in the initial shipment. When we originally allocated you a card it was from the 2nd batch of cards that AMD has a flaw with. AMD is working aggressively on a fix. At this time we have been advised by AMD that the next shipment will be in on or around 6/11/12. We have orders ready to go into immediate production once the next shipment arrives. Please rest assured your order is in priority status and once the cards arrive we will be moving orders into the production queue immediately. Sager has priority allocation of these Graphics Cards from AMD and will ensure you the fastest shipment compared to any other Clevo vendor. In the event you prefer not to wait and change your GPU to a NVIDIA based GPU please contact Sales or Verifications and we can complete this change for you.

We deeply apologize to have to inform you of this news and thank you for your patience on waiting for the AMD 7970M.

    Thanks,

Now this is upsetting for 2 reasons
    1. I was assured that i was in the first batch and everything was ok.
    2. Based on this assurance I ordered a msata to put in the thing and now I gong to have to pay to return it as it could be a month before I see the laptop and I can't risk the part going past the 30 day return window and being bad.

I am with the rest of you and I think I will be canceling this order entirely and going with something else.

I'm in the same boat as you, unfortunately I ordered two 256gb m4 crucial the day after I was put into production and now may have to send them back in fear the 30 day return window will be passed up. So far I haven't received the email and praying I don't, but we'll see what happens.

I understand your concern but please understand I had originally posted on this the other day (which I will add below) that since the 1st and 2nd shipments were within days we notified customers that they were getting allocated cards, which was 100% accurate at that time. However until cards started being pulled & tested out of the 2nd shipment there were problems being discovered. Our only goal is to keep our customers updated with what info we have at that time.

I am sorry you were not in the initial shipment.

    Justin,

My order is currently enroute to me. Is there any potential problems I need to look out for on the card? Were you guys the ones that noticed the problems or was it AMD?

    Thanks!

Looks like you ordered a Sager, so it would have been tested and they are fine. Nothing wrong with the 1st batch of cards, they are still shipping out every day.

Anytime we post a update online it will also auto generate a email, unless someone slips through or there is a mistake you would be notified as I have listed.

I think we need to keep in mind that this is just as frustrating for the resellers/builders as it is for us, if not more so. It's just an unfortunate situation all around. :(

Does anyone have any info on when non-Sager resellers will get their cards? It seems odd that there is no ETA - aka no tracking# in their hands that they can use. Meaning it could be 1-2 weeks from today until they even get their cards (if then). Real strange and real frustrating.

Well I also did get the mail yesterday from Xoticpc regarding the delay and my friend who will be buying it fwded it to me today. No cancelling for me. I am with the 7970m no matter what. I shall not have the laptop up until July and as long as my friend is in the US I can get the laptop :D

Unless this follows up with further delays and is pushed to July at which point I am screwed

I just got the dreaded June 11 email, particularly frustrating for me as my original order was back on 4/6 for the 9270, then I cancelled that and ordered the 9170 on 4/23. This is a long time to wait for a laptop lol. Also I see Xoticpc already billed my credit card without shipping anything to me. Frustrating all the way around, for sure.

What bewilders me most is why this issue isn't seen on the Alienware forums? Is it only us, the unlucky lot of Sageraholics receiving faulty cards into our dominion? I'm just thoroughly outraged and infuriated at the incompetent folk working at AMD at this point!!

I just got my delay from Xotic as well. I've had my order in since the deferred shipping option was announced. This is ridiculous, I shouldn't even be on the 2nd batch to begin with. I realize it's not their fault that there is a delay on these, but I feel like I should have been in the first batch so it shouldn't even be an issue with me.

We are trying our best to get more information to everyone, as soon as we have some good information, we don't want to give updates based on hunches and speculation =) But I assure you we are trying to get these in as quickly as humanly possible.

to whom it may concern (those in my situation) Malibal has told me that they haven't started shipping any yet and that they will send an update to users tonight regarding the status...

This could either be... Yay we are rolling them out tomorrow!
Or more likely - There has been another delay, see you in June.

The only logical explanation here is that this is a either a conspiracy perpetrated by...

    A) Nvidia for AMD trying to upset the pecking order of the mobile GPU arena.

    OR

    B) Alienware for Clevo stealing away customers.

I know! You could just ship them without the video cards, and send the video cards to us next month. I for one need the laptop now, but can make do with the Intel graphics for a month. And I've been building/upgrading computers since my Apple ][e.
