can anyone else confirm that the SO # means that we are finally in production? I would love to know. I got next day shipping on mine and will be taking a day off work when it is out for delivery![]()

-
My order from Xotic PC does not have the SO #.
-
Did you order the 7970M then?
-
Yeah my order doesn't have that either...
If others start getting their laptops and I don't I'm going to be pissed. Ordered on 4/30. I'm assuming more will be getting updated tomorrow tho

Yes. It was ordered around mid-May. Although, I did recently make a change to the RAM, which may have put me back at the bottom of the pile.

The SO# is just for internal purposes, sorry it doenst have any significant meaning about stock availability
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
The SO # is only a internal number, it has no siginificance to a order. Also please keep in mind that Phase 2 would only mean you are moved to the order queue. Once the cards arrive orders will move into production.
The cards are not in stock yet guys, 6/11 is the tentative ETA still as posted previously.
EDIT: oops looks like Hos is already on it!
-
Love to see xotic right on it, even after hours!
-
Do you know if it's possible to make RAID0 for exemple with 2 SSD like this :
SSD 128Go SATAIII 2,5"
SSD 64Go SATAIII 1,8"
Your opinion ?
Or what is the different solution existing ? -
OK, think about it this way: first, when you unpack the laptops it's a lot harder to do an assembly line thing than it is to build them. Second, the packaging will take up a lot of space, and they will need to put it somewhere so that it doesn't get in the way. Third, don't forget the time taken to box the laptops up and move them to and from the warehouse.
No, it means they are actually working on getting the 7970m to work in last year's models. Way too many people here actually don't know that they currently won't work.
I don't think Xotic is a builder...
There's no such thing as a "summon a huge pile of cards" button. AMD can't make them as fast as a lot of people would like, there simply aren't enough of them for Clevo, AW, and anyone else who wants to use them to take however many they want.
What reason would they have to not be on 100% production capacity mode right now? They can't just push a button and make 1,000 cards appear.
There's such a thing as travel deadlines, not having a rig, business deadlines, etc. Also, I think a G73JH constitutes as time for an upgrade (of course, I shouldn't be talking as I was on a 1.6GHz pentium-D before my thinkpad croaked in early April). Besides, you might even turn a profit if you sell your it to the right person, there are probably a lot of collectors out there willing to pay a fortune to get their hands on a G73JH with a real, working GPU...
First, it's GB, not Go. The mSATA port in these laptops is only SATAII so even if it did work (which it won't, as you can't RAID different size drives), it would be slower than a single good SATAIII SSD. Maybe you should check out the Wikipedia article on RAID. -
I think he means the Intel RST, where you use the mSata Drive as a caching drive, as demonstrated by XoticPC's review of the P170em/Sager NP9170.
To answer your question, it is possible and will mostly benefit a mechanical hdd as even on sata 2 the ssd will have a faster read/write speed, although it is still possible with 2 ssd's, it is not recommended.
Though to set something like this up you would need the intel RST drivers and also have your sata mode in "raid". -
Unless you live in Wisconsin or are a Wisconsin native, and considering this is not a political forum, adding editorial comment is not productive. If people are interested in what happened, they can read about it here - Wisconsin: The Morning After (The Note) - ABC News
Other than that, the people in Wisconsin have spoken. Democracy was used, and we can just leave it at that. Let's get back to the 7970 please. -
7970M will be in stock at PCS (UK) on Friday!
A lot sooner than I expected! -
Do you mean PWNPCS or another reseller ?
-
Nah, a different reseller called PC Specialists.
-
Please please can you tell me how you know this? I mean Friday? I cannot wait.
-
I spoke to someone on their Live Support Chat and they said they are expecting delivery on Friday.
-
Thanx for prompt info...as you see I also buy in the UK...+rep and greetings from Amsterdam
-
i guess its because UK is closer to china than the US, so they get the 7970m a little earlier. atleast we know the amd chips are already shipped and on its way to builders/resellers.
-
just received mail vom Schenker Notebooks (mysn.de / germany)
They also confirmed that the issues have been resolved and the shipments are on their way. ETA is next week around 06/11 - 06/14 -
I really hope xoticPc gets theirs early, like this week
-
I think I recall them stating 6/11, but I'm not sure if it was that or 6/8.
Pray that it's 6/8. -
last I heard from Xotic on my card was 6/11
-
Xotic is on the 11th
-
Except xotic will never see your sager's 7970m...you're really waiting for sager to get them since they ship it directly to you when you order from xoticpc.

Well it's a good thing I at least ordered from Xotic and got into the second batch...my old laptop died just a few minutes ago. it won't turn on. Hopefully it won't be too long before the 7970m ships.
-
I've been in that position for about a month now so I feel your pain.
-
Mine is on it's last leg. Bsods every 20 minutes! Come on sager!!!! Hurry.
...tapatalk... -
Ouch that sucks. Hopefully it's just a dead hard drive!
-
You think that's bad? My laptop died in January...for the 2nd time. Already replaced the motherboard once. Now I'm just playing the waiting game
-
Hello guys
We are expecting to start shipping all the 7970m orders by next week.
Cheers! -
Is that to sager or to customer ?
-
Customers; Sager are receiving their 7970M on the 11th, I believe.
-
pumped, my middle of pack video card combined with poor cooling = tears, unless + frozen berries.
-
we should all rejoice, our laptops are finally coming and we can hit 60+ fps woot !
I have an ETA of 14th of June for my reseller(as in it arrives at the reseller)
urmystlkal - congrats on waiting i'm sure you will be very happy with the new laptop. -
Hey man I see you ordered from LBO as well, there was an update on the whirlpool forums on Tuesday where LBO said "Also Radeon 7970M will be in a bit earlier than anticipated, we are looking around June 11th. There is a sizeable amount of these incoming so stocks will be good for now."
-
Can't wait! I've never kept up with getting the best hardware when it becomes available. I'm excited to see how this card performs and to finally see what all the fuss is over SSD's
-
Consider having someone record video of your reaction on first boot. The difference is that great.
-
Haha, thanks. It's definitely been tough!
-
NO WAY, I might have a chance at gaming NEXT WEEK??????!?!? I'm so excited now!
make sure you wear gas masks... -
well, you have to wait for them to make it and then ship it out too.
-
So did any resellers get a Sager with the 7970 in on Friday??
-
I was wondering the same thing. Emailed my reseller earlier today, was told laptops with the 7970m should start shipping in a few days. Only thing is, I placed my order on 5/30, and I'm sure there are a lot more orders ahead of me, so not sure if I will be in on the first shipment of 7970ms, or one of the weekly shipments that comes in after... Wish someone from Sager could post if they knew if they would be able to fullfill all orders right away or not. Might consider a 680m if the wait puts me back to July. Ugh!
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Sager has not started shipping them yet, but we are hopeful to hear good news next week...but we will have to wait to see if it comes.
At this point there are just too many orders waiting to be built to know how long it will take Sager to catch up, or when any particular order will ship.
The good news is a week after you get yours you will hopefully have forgotten about the long and frustrating wait.
-
Not to be a Debbie downer, but I think it will take a bit longer than that for me... May not order an AMD video card again.
-
The not knowing when is driving me nuts. But yes I'm sure once I've gotten the new laptop, it will be so good I will forget about the hassle. I've been dealing with red pixel artifacting issues for several years now, has gotten worse and worse with time. A couple more weeks won't kill me unless the video card totally craps out.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Lol? The exact same thing could have happened with Nvidia.
-
Been a lurker for a couple weeks now, but your post made me join.
Nothing AMD did delayed the card, it was the manufacturer of a voltage regulator (or something similarly small on the card). The voltage regulator they were manufacturing had a terrible fail rate, and there was no way for Clevo to know this would happen, as I'm sure they were promised some QC on the part before it was delivered to them.
So basically, the only company at fault here is the no name China factory that hopefully Clevo will never use again. Neither Clevo nor AMD could have done anything differently to prevent this.
I'm sure AMD had a big part in finding the issue too, as AMD sure as hell didn't want to find out that their new GPU failed 20% of the time, so they probably helped quickly find the culprit.
Now I'm just gonna hope to god that this ships in time for me to get home from vacation next Monday and have UPS come that day. That would be awesome -
I agree, Clevo was victimized by the shoddy cards. They no doubt lost considerable business from the mishap.
Although the manufacturers of the card were at fault, AMD placed their brand on these cards. I have no way of knowing that, in the future, there is assurance that such manufacturers will not be used to produce AMD cards. Hence my reluctance to invest in their products going forward.
*Edit: Considering I never received a faulty product but was only delayed in receiving it, I must clarify my assertion: I will not be purchasing AMD cards when time is a factor. I have no evidence to conclude that components tend to be faulty once received by the end-user. If I am able to risk waiting multiple months in the future, I will consider AMD.
I have no information to support or refute this. I must assume that our conceptions of the meaning of "quickly" must vary.
I've been wishing for a while now. I ordered my laptop in the second half of April after my previous one died. Recording one's lab notes all day in our lab's 12-year-old PowerPC Macintosh is a fate I would not wish on my worst enemy. -

So purdy *strokes card*
AMD just supply the chips. Do you blame the manufacturer of the glass in your windows if the frame cracks?
