off topic.....where is the pm button. or how to pm. i usually click on name which leads to option for pm or i goto inbox. this forum has neither?
-
Click the username of the person you want to PM. Once you are viewing their profile, there is a link to PM them on the left hand side of their profile page.
EDIT: And by left hand, I mean right hand.

Isn't there a minimum posting requirement before you can send PMs?

Anyone else notice that performance with Vsync on the 7970m is pretty awful? When I have it selected, in any game I play, the framerate jumps around a ton, even if it's a solid 100+fps without vsync.
-
maybe i just hit it? its working now. no complaints.
-
current drivers are unstable. when you overclock with vsyn on does the fps still bounce around? same thing right?
-
ive just received my clevo p150em and installed win7. are there new 7970m drivers out there?
-
Same here
...tapatalk... -
No...hopefully soon we'll get some real ones so I actually think that this laptop was worth it. Drivers suck so far. I get better game play on my games on my desktop that has 560ti and an older laptop that had a 540m plays games better...
-
I ordered from them April 29th , and started complaining back when this thread was called "Malibal expected to have 7970m on May 11"
What optimistic fools we were!
Anyways I complained about a thousand more times. especially when they were only building Satori when they got them and finally it went into production.
I guess it must have motivated them finally because it shipped and supposed to arrive on monday. Hopefully it lives up to the insane two month anticipation -
Only modded drivers. Other than those, not really. I never expected superior drivers, considering it's AMD.
-
Yea, I've read lots of reviews like that so I decided to order else where, sounds like your lucky you were picked
Doesn't anyone have a recent estimate on how far a long in que Xotic is? Like if you order to day, when its expected to ship by?
Thanks -
I ordered mine from XoticPC on 6/6 and it went into Phase 2 on 6/20. When they called to confirm they stated that the production times at Sager are still catching up a bit so expect 9-16 business days. If that holds I will be getting mine about a month after I ordered it. It should start being a bit faster now though.
-
My Xotic schedule seems similar to Clintre's, except I ordered a 9150 on April 30, changed it to a 9170 on May 30, finally hit phase 2 on June 19...and there I sit. The 9-16 business days for production comes out to July 2-11, and with the no-California-tax double shipping time, they said that will add another 8-10 days, so I'm hoping for the middle of July...I'm thinking my production time will be at the higher end of the range since I ordered the matte screen, no-dead-pixels, and IC Diamond thermal compound.
What a long, strange trip it's been. During May I was getting worried it wasn't going to arrive in time for my vacation on June 8th, and now I'm looking at around 5 weeks beyond that. -
Yep.... actually considering a macbook pro believe it or not. I am certain I will be cancelling my order on Monday.
-
Ordered 5/11. Laptop with 7970m is currently 18 minutes away driving. I have a feeling it will arrive tomorrow, 6/25. Between ordering this laptop and receiving it my old laptop broke so it will be very exciting to have the new one.
As of today what is the best driver I should seek out for the 7970m? -
I believe your supposed to go with the most recent beta from AMD, not what comes on the disc.
I think this is it AMD Catalyst 12.7 BETA (8.981.2 June 12) - Guru3D.com Forums -
You could also try the 12.7 beta modded driver.
-
That driver is only for people who don't have the 7970 to get all the new features the 7970 brings. It does absolutely nothing for you if you already have the 7970.
Thats what it seems to say if you read the post on the forum about it -
Uhh, the driver is for all AMD cards, including 7970m.
There are several people in the P1x0EM lounges that have equaled or beaten the alienware 7970m scores with clevo's. This whole Clevo under-performing story is a myth! -
I ordered on 6/14 from Xotic. Was told that on Monday 6/11 the long-awaited shipment of 7970m's came in and that they would hopefully be caught up on the back orders "by the end of the week."
Before placing my order I asked and was told by the sales rep that there was a possibility of seeing my laptop by the end of the month or soon after (I live in Nevada, takes a day to ship)... so perhaps everything is on the cusp of speeding up. Maybe he just wanted to make a sale

We can usually ship Sager laptops within about 5-7 business days of receipt of your good funds, but if you need expedited production, please let us know and we will attempt to accommodate your needs. -
Having ordered a custom skin is killing me. I'm so antsy everytime I get an email hoping it's Xotic saying my rig has shipped.
Anyone had any experience with how long the skinning process usually takes? Skinning facility started on 6/18. Mine is still within the 5-13 business days to skin. I'm just so excited, and I just can't hide it, I don't want to lose control, but I think I like it. -
I ordered on 6/6 and it is still in phase 1. I was told that sager asked xoticpc to hold off on processing orders because sager was backed up. So hopefully I can get it by mid-July.
-
depends on what you use to measure card performance. in some applications (like 3dmark11) it performs the same as in alienware's 7970m, in others its 10-20% slower: Test GeForce GTX 680M vs. Radeon HD 7970M - Notebookcheck.com Tests
-
"I'm just so excited, and I just can't hide it, I don't want to lose control, but I think I like it." <-- terrible!
I'm in stage 1 limbo as well, but FL is underwater right now, so probably best it not get here for a bit more. -
Have you been in contact with a rep? Do you have a particular part that's holding yours up? I ordered 6/11 and mine has shipped.

Therein lies the frustrations of many. I ordered the same machine (looks the same from your sig), from the same vendor, 3 days before you, and still in P1.
Asked yesterday any idea on how far back in the queue I may be and told no real way to know. -
Anyone have any idea how long the systems are taking to get built and shipped these days? I ordered a pretty barebones system with no O/S on May 21, got my phase 2 e-mail on 15 June from XoticPC. It would be great to see the system prior to the holiday but I am not holding my breath.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2 -
Exactly. I ordered mine a full 6 & 1/2 weeks before YayTech, was put into phase 2 a full 3 weeks before he was, but somehow got my unit shipped the same day he did. Same Specs.
Ordered May 7th, Phase 2 May 22nd, Phase 3 June 22nd -
9170, pretty standard build, only customization option was to remove branding.
Ordered May 18, Phase 2 May 28 (couple of days delay due to payment info not processing), and still waiting for any news. -
I contacted xoticpc last Friday and was told the "back up" problem but nothing about when my laptop would be built.
My order is still in phase 1 (Pending Parts or Item Arrival). So actually there is no update. -
Bigred, I was told by Hutsady that payment processing would NOT hold up production. So whether they waited for your payment to process prior to pushing you to Phase 2 or not, Sager should have begun construction of your unit.
I am having the same issues as you guys, having placed my order on May 31st originally, and still don't have any indication we're close to shipping. I must say, I am incredibly disappointed with the responsible party, but I'm not ready to pin that on Xotic PC just yet, because there are people from other resellers having the same issues.
I do, however, wish I'd ordered direct from Sager in the first place (which I never knew was an option), because I requested NO customization that would require Xotic PC's involvement, unless they debrand. -
I ordered the same day from Mythlogic and was very excited to see that today it went into the Hardware Build phase.
They do a 72-hour burn-in though, so it'll still be at least 3 more days before it ships.
-
Gotta give Mythlogic some props here. I ordered from xoticpc on june 6 and was still on Phase 1 on June 19.
I promptly cancelled that order and placed one with Mythlogic June 19. It shipped out yesterday... -
Wow, that is really great.
-
How many others are there that ordered in April and haven't had their laptop ship yet?
-

I have made several post explaining this in this thread (attached below), here are a few of them, ordering from Sager would not make any order faster if you are only ordering stock Sager Parts. Sager removes the branding upon our request.
-
Ordered on 6/15 Lappy will be here 6/28...I wont get it till 6/29 becasue I will be out of town till then. They will hold it at UPS for me.
Only changes from stock ar Matte screen, BR drive, intel wireless, 750 gig hard drive. -
I ordered my 9150 the other day and today I was notified that they are waiting for 7970m's. I'm not in a particular rush to get my laptop, but I would like to know how long I will be expecting to wait for them.
-
ordered same day, same model, same screen and same vendor ... they just authorized my card Monday
This sounds all very random -
it looks like they're almost done catching up on back orders. But once you get to Phase 2 then it should be 1 week after that (without customization).
I would say that you should get yours next week. May be Friday (Ground Shipping) of next week. They authorized my card last Monday and today I just got the notification that it was being sent to XoticPC for customization. If I didn't add the Steelseries KB then it would've been here this Friday. -
So I got my laptop from Xotic today:

I have been installing various things and configuring others (and playing Diablo 3) so I haven't had a ton of time to get into it, but here are my observations so far:
The Good
- Screen looks great. I have a window directly behind me and I get no real glare at all. Colors look great.
- Diablo 3 looks and plays great. Pretty happy with the 7970 so far
- The backlit keyboard is nice. Even lighting overall.
- The thing has been whisper quiet under normal use.
- Everything feels very solid to me.
The Bad
- I could do without the glossy finish around the screen and the perimeter of the palm rest area. A finger print magnet in areas that I seem to touch a lot.
- The fans definitely kick in during gameplay. Not overly bothersome to me, but certainly worth noting.
- The trackpad is responsive and works well, bt it would have been nice if it was a different texture
- The speakers are so-so so far. I have messed around with the THX program some, but I would need to try a bit more. Not the worst speakers I have ever heard, but not the best. My cheapo headset/mic sounded great in Diablo though.
The Ugly
When I pulled the laptop out, you could see this handprint on the plastic bag it was in, as if the person had a pizza or something right before bagging it up. Got a laugh out of that. Opened up the laptop and there were smudges on the screen and around it on the glossy part. Seems like the person who swapped my default screen out had some greasy hands or something and didn't bother cleaning them before working on my laptop or cleaning the laptop off after swapping the screen . . . .
I'm pretty happy so far . . .
EDIT: In case anyone was wondering, I ordered on 5/17, switched to phase 2 on 5/21, went to phase 3 on 6/16, and received the laptop 6/26. Stupid 7970m delay . . . . . -
Let's hope it was a pizza, HEYOO
-
^ Had fingerprints all over mine. Cleaned up fine though, no pizza stains
. The extra gamut screen is well worth it. Colors are as saturated (not overly) as my dell IPS.
-
Well I can't blame him if it wasn't. The screen had the same effect on me.

It took a week for pwnpcs.co.uk to get my 7970M P150EM system from ordering to reach me.
Pretty bloody impressive. -
O.O
I am so ready.
