yep, it only took 1 working day for me to get my p150em from PWN PCS after they received their 7970ms. Excellent service, cannot recommend them enough.

Mine just shipped yesterday. Sadly XoticPC never bothered to send a notice. I only found out by stalking my order status page. Though since the order shipping from California I suspect it came directly from Sager and XoticPC never touched anything other than the check I sent them. It was probably a break down in the communication between the two companies. Total billed time seems to be about a 6-7 business days for minimally modified stock system.

^ Anytime a order status is updated with a tracking # it auto generates a email with the information. Maybe the email went to your junk email?

So if I were to order a 9170 with a 7970M today, when would it be likely to ship? I ask because I'd really like to get my hands on one of these beasts, but I leave town in 2.5 weeks and won't be back until the beginning of August. Would there be any chance of getting the computer before I leave, or should I wait until I get back?

Getting my laptop today! Was supposed to receive it Monday but I was at work and no one at the house answered the doorbell. So after an extended wait it is finally here. I can safely say I've been thinking about a sager since June of last year so it will be satisfying to finally get my hands on one.

My 9150 had extended processing time because of backlog with 7970M's. I've heard that Phase 2 takes 1-2 weeks. And then shipping is 3-5 days. So it would be tight, but you may be able to make it, especially if you do faster shipping.

Sadly in my case the e-mail never went out for some reason. I've been watching my e-mail (to include the junk mail folder) like a hawk since I am awaiting my new rig with great anticipation. The 7970 despite the problems people have been talking about should be a huge improvement over my Sager 5797 and its NVidia 280m.

according to the xoticpc website mine went from awaiting parts (the infamous 7970) on 6 June to phase 2 on 15 June and the tracking number was poted to the xoticpc website on 27 June with delivery scheduled for NLT 2 July via UPS ground.

    Sylvia arrived yesterday :)

I installed Win7 and all the included drivers, then 3dmark 11. I only have the basic version, so (drumroll):

    Performance 1280x720 score: 5882

The wait was worth it, this moment is so deliciously sweet :)

    Goodbye thread!

When we ship to California customers it takes 2 business days to get from Sager to us, then either 1 or 2 business days back depending on where you are in California. Total is either 3 or 4 business days.

Have you contacted them about it? I ordered on 6/6 and mine is arriving tomorrow. Went into Phase 2 on 6/20.

What config do you have? If you got the Killer WiFi card I think there was some back order. Other than that I do not know.

Just got my 17.3" Sager 9170, AMD 7970M, i7-3920XM Extreme Edition last week from XoticPC. Within 10 minutes of turning it on, just doing normal things like browsing and downloading files, it hanged. Rebooted, 30 min later hanged doing similar simple things. Then it just finally failed to boot at all doing a continuous power on/off every 2 seconds with no splash screen.

I'm really really pissed. XoticPC was good at order fulfillment and were quick to issue me an RMA, but it's obvious these guys do zero QA before shipping out their systems. Can anybody recommend a company that does their damnedness to make sure they ship you a functioning machine? Price isn't an issue for me, I just want a best-of-breed gaming laptop that works at least a year from when I open the box...

Mythlogic builds their systems themselves and do extensive QA. As far as your problem, it likely wasn't Xotic's fault. Many of their computers get sent directly from Sager to the end user, so in those cases, Xotic never even sees them, let alone getting a chance to do their own QA.

You're right, I probably should have researched a bit more about what exactly these resellers do (aka nothing). I"ll take a look at Mythlogic. I also saw Origin PC as well. Any other boutiques you can think of for me to look into? I'm scared as hell now to go through this process again...

Sager probably has the most sophisticated Q.C. process of anyone.

It is just that sometimes, regardless of what brand you buy, or from what reseller, things can go wrong. Sometimes caused by shipping, sometimes caused by electronics failure regardless of how much testing and burn-in that was done at the factory.

99+% of the time, when Sager builds them...they stay built!

As far as I know, Sager does stress test your machine for some time before they send it to be shipped. It just sounds like you have defective electronics somewhere that wasn't caught.

So you're saying that even if I went with somebody like Mythlogic, I'm still rolling the dice? I'm one of the 1%'ers? Or the 0.1%'ers? I gotta say I'm pretty unlucky as the last time I bought a loaded gaming laptop (Alienware in 2006) same exact thing happened...

Finally, you go on Sager's website. You get two sentences how they do 96 hours of testing. Mythlogic has a bit more descriptive process. Maybe Sager does the exact testing, I don't know...

    @drnube

Having worked as a Field Service engineer in a past life I can say that no matter how much testing and burn in process there is, there will always be some that slip through. Sager the largest Clevo importer in North America and ships a ton of Clevo based system. There are going to be some that get through the process. Many times it happens because of shipping. A little rattle can take a component that was passing, but just a hair off from breaking and make it fail.

However saying that, Mythlogic has a great reputation as well for putting out quality. I am on my third Clevo based system and second through XoticPC / Sager. Been pretty happy so far.

I'd just saw you are unlucky. Sometimes, laptops with problems are going to slip through. Just RMA the laptop and I expect the next one will have no issues.

I have received packages that looked like someone opened up the box and beat the contents with a sledge hammer and then put them back in the box. I certainly would not rule out shipping damage. Drnube did you select the White Glove package? Since we are covered for shipping damage by the warranty it's mainly for people like you that are willing to pay a little extra to reduce the chance that anything will go wrong.

It seems that Xotic customers have a lot of "missing" emails. Kind of a stranfe coincidence since I have read about a dozen other people given that excuse on this forum alone.

    Quote: from Justin@XoticPC:

I am glad you received a update. If you can send me your order # via email I would still like to look at the emails as it is extremely odd that a email is not responded to and very important that no email gets missed. If some sort of filter is blocking it we want to know so it can be addressed. End quote.

This is the response after the above quoted post. It would seem that Jpech58 ordered his laptop under his NBR screen name from Xotic (if you believe Bugout, because how else would Justin have a clue who JP is?). But after reading the original thread Bugout quoted from, JP never came back to say Justin had ever been contacted in the 5 minutes from his post to saying he had gotten his notice. Bugout, what is your deal??? Why is every post I have seen from you attacking Xotic? Put it to rest, or ask HP for a raise, because you need new material.

As for common thread, please link. No links, didn't happen. And no, I didn't buy from any reseller. I just don't like to see what appears to be bashing of a company with good rep by what appears to be a troll.

FWIW, going through an RMA with Xoticpc cuz of either a bad 7970m or motherboard. Bought accessories with them and had to remind them to ship. Got the accessories finally and was missing one of my ordered items. Xoticpc supposedly has a great rep, but, what do they actually do? They are just a thin layer in front of Sager, IMO, so why not just order from Sager directly?

Running short on time to properly answer, but run a couple of searches on using a Sager reseller or Sager direct. You should find the reason(s) pretty fast.

I ordered my NP9170 w/ 7970 and a few other odds and ends upgrades from Powernotebooks on 6/30 and got my notification that it was shipped on 7/6 and will be here on 7/12. Excellent customer support from them and shipment has been made much quicker than I expected especially considering the Holiday in between the week.

Thats exactly why to use Xotic. I had to get a refund from Sager and was glad I had Xotic to do all the haggling on my behalf. Xotic sells a ton of laptops for Sager and Sager will respond to pressure from Xotic much quicker than from just an individual!

I received my NP9170 on Wednesday from XoticPC. This machine absolutely flies! The 7970 hasn't had any problems whatsoever, the configurable graphics and having to select which graphics card is used for each program you open is kind of annoying though.

Nearly a two month wait for me (ordered May 14). Sorry to hear Anthony2816 has to send his back in.
