Ok, so I have a 9150 with the GTX 675M. I checked the screen, and curiously it's the LGD01E9. AKA LP156WF1 This laptop was purchased in July from Xoticpc. It's the standard glare type as far as I know. I bought it from craigslist, so I actually don't know for sure. From what I have been reading, the LG hasn't been even been used as a default for at least a year? I have only seen AUO, and Chi Mei screens. Although I heard this LG screen is garbage, I also heard it's really good too? I'm just wondering what the official verdict on this screen is in all of your opinions.

Might be an odd question, but even the helpdesks of the "display stores" couldn't answer... -
How do you go about checking what type of screen you have?

Thanks
Are there beside the B156HW01 V4 any other panels you would recommend?
As far as I found this was the only screen that would fit, and has the great color gamut, brightness, contrast, etc. The only downside seems to be the 6-bit color depth. I do see the difference between the my current laptop screen, which is also 6-bit, and my 8-bit Ultrasharp display. But that might be the result of the overall "bad" screen quality (B156HW02 V?) of my current laptop screen. -
So, it is very possible this 6 bit display can be superior to most 8 bit displays. You also have to remember AOU did not manufacture IPS displays for a very long time, they did not have the license to do so. AOU like Samsung has developed other technologies to make their TN panels rival that of IPS displays. There are a few reviews that estimate the AOU V4 display has about 2 million colors even though the average 6 bit has about 262K colors. I've also seen measurements stating the AOU v4 display consistently exceeding 95% of aRGB about 97%.
My overall impression about this display is that there is really only one worthwhile upgrade, the 10bit Dreamcolor display, or when there are HD4K displays for laptops. Even the current retina display is not worth it since color accuracy and contrast on the V4 is superior. And on Apple at least, it's actual resolution is 1440*900 and if you use it at 1080p, believe it or not, that's upsampled meaning it's a bit blurry. Incredible right? -
Thanks
I will go with the V4, I think. -
Either get the V4 of the other panels and overall seems most are satisfied and happy with those. Though it's easier to find a ICC profile for the V4 than it is for the others, and they all from reviews appear to have a blue tint to them.
Also keep in mind, the V4 is the same panel that Lenovo uses, they replaced the IPS from the past with V4 and I have read posts on Lenovo forums of users preferring the V4 too. -
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone can shed light on the AUO G173HW01 V0, has anyone seen/used it? Is it better than the AUO B173HW01 V4 as that one seems to be discontinued, but still available in some places. Specs are almost similar, with the G173HW01 V0 having 400nit brightness vs 300 in the B173HW01 V4. What would you go for?

Also the V0 has a 72% color gamut, while the V4 has 90% so the V4 is still the slightly better screen in that department -
What about AU Optronics B173HW01 V5?

It's a standard 72% panel.
