And no we didnt take those photos. We have better ones
and a few samples.
-
More info please
-
A little thing called NDA prevents them I'm sure.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
bah NDA is for the weak minded
PS: I was out of ideas -
so tell us info please
-
Yes, spill it then. If no NDA then what's stopping you?
-
I seriously can't wait for my future little VM server/Gaming lappy
-

Well, even if we are technically not bound by NDA I suspect some people would be pissed if we shared info they cannot. What I can tell you is that the CEBIT sample was only mock-up meaning it was a hunk of plastic made to look similar to the finished product. For example, its KB and cooling system had not been finalized.
-
I think more people are pissed if you don't
-
so does this mean that you currently have working prototypes?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Disclosing what they have or have not would be the sort of thing to annoy people
-
Annoy the customers or annoy the source... dilemma dilemma.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If it's a hard choice like that then you will just have to loose some customers (but hope they understand) rather than getting your supply cut and loosing all your customers.
-
No, I understand. I live with confidentiality agreements over my head all the time. The problem I have is some people have been fired for making mention of the projects among peers and family outside of work, but it's their life and it's not like they disclose details pertinent to the product. But whatever, I can wait.

Wait and bathe in all the reviews and good information rather than wallowing in speculation and frustration
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
and where is the fun in that? -
Exactly! You saw the fun Prema and I already had Meaker...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Then who am I to come in and give you all the info and spoil all your fun then? It must be for your own good by what you are telling me
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
terrible come back
you actually made an effort to make a joke worse than mine
By god! you are mad! -
meanwhile I am comparing this against the P150EM (np9150)/its successor.
-
Actually yes, it is going to be similar performance to the P150EM actually. Similar specs even except for likely no optical drive.
-
Hopefully it won't suffer the fate of the W110ER with its disappointing battery life. Everything about the ultraportable gaming laptop sounded great to me but such a tiny thing suffering from crippled portability doesn't make sense. The Alienware M11X could pull off 7+ hours with a similarly sized battery and it came out in 2011, so unless Clevo wants to continuously lose out to its flashier counterparts, their unplugged longevity needs serious R&D.
With it's medium weight (5-6 lbs?) and portable size, the only major issue that might hold the W230ST back from showing clear superiority over its competitors like the MSI GE40 and the M14X r3 is Clevo's tendency to put energy-efficiency lower on its list of priorities. At this size most people want 5+ hours on medium productivity, and we cant count on the lower power consumption of Haswell tech to extend battery life significantly. -
Interesting. so the 760m will be similar performance to the 675mx or 680m? glad both have optimus. also, what is the difference between the np9150 and the 'special edition', other than a higher spec base?
-
The 760m will be similar to the 670m, the 765m will be similar to the 670mx. At least according to everything I can find about them. The 770~775 will be equal to the 675mx-680m
-
The 770M is not a GK104 like the 675MX...
-
I meant to say P151EM, but still, 765m, although likely a 128-bit GPU should be about on par with a 670mx from everything we've learned. Of course if they can increase shader count by 15%, reduce TDP by 22%, and improve performance by 30% from the 680m to 780m, why not? That means 670mx replacement should be able to run at 60W and on par with the 675mx.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
They are making some of the lower cards narrower but faster by the looks of things, the 760M will hold significant advantages over the 660M and be in 670MX territory (looking at the rumoured specifications) (thus negating the need to use it's larger core and package).

I wonder how possible it would be to put a 13.3" retina display from a macbook into this...
-
Let's start by assuming it's not possible.
Now for speculation, if the screen used this time uses eDP instead of LVDS then there'd be a slim chance, however iirc clevo use LVDS pretty exclusively, maybe a reseller can provide some info on when they're thinking of switching over. -
There is hope this could be eDP. When the W110ER was released with LVDS there was a lot of questioning on this topic and one of the resellers/manufacturers said that the next generation of chassis and MB would have eDP. With Haswell requireing a new MB to be designed this is likely the first generations of Clevo's that will (possibly) see a eDP connection.
-
Apple panels use custom firmware and won't work even if you have right connector...
-
Not every panel though, I can't speak for their laptops but I know the ipad's 'retina' LCD just needs a dab of the right voltage here, a breakout board and a DP connector there, then it works. Windows just doesn't like scaling on it.
*edit* found it! http://emerythacks.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/connecting-ipad-retina-lcd-to-pc.html -
oh well was a wet dream to get a retina display on a gaming laptop.

They dont have the best response times though for games.

"***W230ST: The W110ER will not be refreshed this year, instead it will be replaced with the W230ST. The W110ER is not discontinued, just won't be refreshed. This model is going to be the most popular one on the market in my opinion. 13.3" 1920x1080 FHD panel. New refreshed nVidia graphics, Sound Blaster Cinema audio, Illuminated keyboard. Sounds like everyone's wish list approval. ETA July."
So no more 11" laptop from Clevo/Sager? -
Dont think that's what it means.. the 11" wont be discontinued, Clevo just isnt changing anything on it.
-
from what I understand, the W110ER is going to keep the same hardware this year.
-
expected price for a decent config? also, do we know if the keyboard is backlit?
-
now which thread do I watch?
-
Both. Not that hard.
-
Have a look at battery life because for optimus (turn off gpu to save power) to work you need to have a single gpu. Also sli doesn't always work properly, it doesn't always scale, and it suffers from microstuttering. There are plenty of reasons why we're not just fitting 50 low power GPUs to small laptops.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
it brings low benefits simply put
this would be interesting to have in a notebook that doesnt have a gpu, then remove and insert and voilá! you can game now -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have no GPU and two of those slots support heftier cards and sure.
When a single 675MX makes far more sense it defeats the point. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
also that, it really doesnt make sense, not to mention that while sli has improved, it still has problem and doesnt give you 100% better performance or less all the time -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
With weaker cards the flaws are also more apparent, the input lag and micro stutter are offset by higher frame rates but if they are not perfect then it can feel worse depending on the person.
-
I just like that the ultrabay is an extra case fan. No switchable graphics/optimus? No thank you.
-
I read that the Nvidia GTX 700 series will be released on 5/23/13. So maybe we'll get some concrete specs in a few days.
W230ST - The 13" We've been waiting for!?
