Out of curiosity, why is the clevo.fr website offsided with the official clevo website?

I keep checking this thread every day in hopes that the release day will come sooner...

Yeah, same here. I even put up a thread in the Price Check section to get an estimate of how much my current laptop might go for. Can't wait!

lol 31. but refraining from checkin several times a day. once a day is fine. else i get disappointed noone has nothing new to add lmao. -

Is there any info on the dimensions and battery life? I'm looking seriously at the NP8230 as well since either size will work fine for me and I think the 1080 screen would be better for the 15.6 anyhow. What's the main appeal of the W230ST over the 8230? other than size?
=Jason- -
Here to announce that... I'm one of you.... crazy waiting, refresh button hitting, W230ST hungry!!! :hi2:
-
Otherwise, the 8230 beats the W230ST on GPU, # of hard drive bays, and value for your dollar (in specs). -
Size and weight. This is true for any laptop. If size or weight doesn't matter to you then you will find plenty of 15.6" notebooks with same/similar hardware as the W230ST and likely for cheaper. But in that regard, you'll likely find a 15.6" with a 770m that costs not much more than one with a 765m so you're better off going that route.
And I don't expect any official news on this for a couple more weeks. So go away and enjoy something else for a while. Although your posts for passing the time are welcome.

No word on battery life yet because nobody has one and the NDA for details haven't been released yet despite some resellers/builders posting them on their site. -

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Well it is Sunday (at least here in the US) so no news will be given today...
-
Well here are the dimensions, I haven't heard news on the battery life but in about an hours time I'm gonna be calling up and asking question. Will keep the thread posted. -
We can surmise battery life. I'll say 4-5 hours unless Clevo actually improves their BIOS and there's no issue with the Optimus graphics switching the GPU completely off.
-
I'd guess 3-4 if it's anything like the W110ER.
-
-
-
It has 2? -

how can a msata port be used by an optical drive? the sata ports are of a totally different type and not compatible with each other...

you're right
-
I'm about to crack.
I'm justifying buying the W110ER instead of waiting..
My thinking is, undervolted (Prema <3), an overclocked 650m on a 1366x768 screen will run games better than a 765m on 1920×1080 (or maybe even 1600x900).
Sound about right? Is the W230ST -really- worth waiting for? -

Originally, I thought a P150EM, or now the P157SM, would be the ideal choice as it's a bit smaller and lighter - but I am now concerned about all these reports of fan noise. Despite being monstrous, the G73sw sure is quiet. Being able to game next to your partner without dagger-stares is a somewhat overlooked property which only Asus seems to have nailed.
I recently found the Asus G46vw - except we don't have that model in Australia. What's worse, is that our dollar just took a huge dip, and with all the duty/shipping fees to get it over here, I've gone a bit cold on it.
Then I found Prema's W110ER thread and read multiple reports of users flashing his UV bios, resulting in a relatively quiet system. It's a lot smaller than I had planned on, but hell, maybe it would be fine. It lacks a backlit keyboard - but maybe I don't need it. I'm clearly cracking.
It's just one of those things - do you wait forever for the perfect laptop, or just take the plunge. I'd hate to wait another 5 weeks only to find the W230ST is a screamer. -
trust me, crap screens ruin the experience of using your laptop for anything. I would wait for w230st.
-
I thought the pixel density was quite high - that the biggest issue was with its viewing angles? -

Really like the new Horize logo. I wish Metabox would use theirs - it's also pretty snazzy. -
Man I wish Clevo made their other laptop models look this good, but no we get served the same rehashed models again and again, lets hope next year they come out with something new, not just the horrid "facelift" they gave to 157SM/177SM and 375SM...
-
I saw a P157sm in person the other day.
I think it looks noticeably better "in the flesh". -
I'm not real crazy about the gray though, but I'll deal with it.
And umm, where are the speakers? -
Looks great however, the wedge edge on the top left/right corner of screen has me thinking? MSI???
-
That has a glossy panel by the looks of it. I thought the 1080p panel was matte, even says so in the review.
Pics must be of the lower res panel I guess. -
My local reseller has started to take pre-orders with an ETA of 2- 3 weeks.
Pulling the trigger. This model fits my bill perfectly! -
May I ask who this local reseller is?
-
-
Oh yeah, thanks. That video. In rear on the bottom sides. Didn't know if they were in front bottom but apparently not.
-
AftershockPC is the name of the local builder here. -
This will very likely be my next laptop...
Are there any confirmed US sellers for preorder?
Has the price been confirmed for US?
Thanks! -
No and No.
-
-
Is anyone else concerned that a 765m on 1080p isn't exactly future proof?
A 13.3" screen would probably have looked great at 900p as well. -
Personally 1080p is a must for me.. because outside of gaming, i need the workspace. -
Well that's pretty ace then.
W230ST - The 13" We've been waiting for!?
