I did some research over internet I think I can predict which 13.3" matte HD+ (900p) display panel Clevo will install into W230ST.
relaying on specs it should be: LG Display LP133WD2-SLB1 (1600x900) IPS LED: LG Display LP133WD2-SLB1 Overview - Panelook.com
    What you think guys?

unrelated but i know there is ALOT of expertise in this thread. ok my msata drive wont install windows. it gets to the end stage of installation where the 4 colourd balls are spinning and then the blue screen that says windows 7 will load but it crashes there. what can i do to fix this.
is is the msata m4 crucial 64gb sata3 model. unsure of the firmware inside because wen i try to udate firmware it wont detect it because i run the firware program off my normal hard drive. the msata is seasted internally and not seen by the firmware program. but it is seen when i log into windows showing that there is an os on there.

    what can i do?

    Thanks

Hah, not one but two IPS display options? Too bad they can't make the P150SM compatible with the 15.6" IPS display that they use in a few other models. Too me something like the P150SM with a 780m and a 1080p IPS display would be a very nice configuration, even better than the W230ST.

Can't believe some of the temps people are reporting on the W110ER O.O

I have to stress test EVERYTHING to push it close to 90.

In normal usage I never surpass 80 on anything. When I say that, I mean web browsing - heavy gaming. When gaming, 80 is of no concern to me on GPU. CPU is usually below 70 and GPU is often around there too. Considering my DESKTOP GPU is at 70 when gaming, I really don't think it's any issue in a mobile system XD Idles are fairly high for CPU at around 55-60 but those mean nothing and are no threat to the CPU integrity. Laptops always have high idle values in terms of CPU, well, high temps for CPU in general.

Not gonna happen, essentially holiday week. 4th of July Thurs. I'd hazard not even next week.

How did thew owner's lounge thread get a Sager model #?

Even though I just bought a 8250-S I'm thinking of one of these for even moar portability as that beast doesn't feel much smaller than my MSI GT725 and it feels HEAVIER so it'd be nice to have the option of a smaller/lighter nb when I don't anticipate needing to do anything that needs as much CPU/GPU power as the 8250 and more batt life, plus I might try a loaded out ssd machine(but probably not as the ssd options will likely be mlc rather than slc(want more write cycles))...

    [EDIT]
Even better had they updated(haswelled) that 11"er like you have, I'd be even more interested in that even for sacrificing more potential GPU power...
    [/EDIT]

It will likely happen end of next week, or worse case beginning of the following week. Those have been the indicators all along. Sager and LPC gave me the model number.

The 11" is a great little machine. Just the screen is too dang small to do anything productive and not really that great for gaming for more than 30 minutes at a time. 13" should be perfect. It's what I've been pining for for quite a while, but any of the few models over the past have had quite a few compromises that didn't make them worth the money, including the Gigabyte and Sony models of the past. This time around it's pretty much the best of everything.

11" Yeah, I know. I was more going about the portability angle when I wouldn't need something like the 8250 and/or wanted more batt life. IF I were gaming I'd definitely haul the 8250 and probably buy some spare batts/ensure I had AC access.

230: Probably waiting on a container ship from China with their Clevo order. If I had to guess I be willing to bet that Clevo runs the chassis/mb runs in batches and the foreigners that have them are probably getting the initial run(probably did a few 100 - 1k just to keep costs down for "testing", so those early owners might even end up with some hand re-worked boards) dribs and drabs while others like Sager are waiting on larger quantities...

As I am unfamiliar with Clevo US dealers, what would you recommend for reputable online dealers, assuming as everyone apparently believes this is going to hit US in mid July or early August?

There are lots of us out there, and even some that are pretty active on the forums. It's best to touch base with those you resonate with and ask questions to see which fits your needs the best. Another good way to get reviews is resellerratings.com as well as BBB and the reseller review thread here on the main thread page for Sager.

How do you think this would compare to the 900p screen on a 2010 VAIO Z (VPCZ1)? Obviously the viewing angles would be better, but how about the crispness of the images and colors?

Is there any possibility that with a 4702MQ and a ssd, this laptop could achieve 5 hours for word processing and web browsing? I ask only because the Razer Blade was reviewed by the verge and had a 6 and a half hour run time, but it had a 70wh batery instead of 60wh that is in the w230st.

Logical Blue One (One of Cleov's Australian resellers.)

I've stepped through an order via a Beverley Hills address (only postcode in US I remember ftw) and shipping works out to a *very* reasonable $50.

Of course, if you include the expected delivery time, you'd likely have it cheaper, sooner, with a more local warranty if you waited until the expected July 15th stock date in the US. (It's another fortnight; your Sony can't depreciate 2 more weeks?)

But if you absolutely must know numbers RIGHT NOW through some place that can give you firm dates and costs, it *does* exist. I just don't recommend you necessarily bite.

Well Anandtech reviewed the Razer Blade, the key points I took away were that the screen quality is abysmal with a contrast of 200:1 (for comparison W110ER got about 150:1 and the W230ST's 1080p panel gets 1050:1), it's a bad TN panel too so viewing angles are terrible. Oh, also slight potential thermal issues on the CPU which hits 90C under load. The only plus points I could find are that it's thin, shiny and has a bigger battery but I'll certainly be waiting for the W230ST mostly because I need a high res display for work and 16GB of RAM not 8

I don't know if it's even cool for me to pass this on, as they're really hooking me up, but I have fairly concrete word from Stealth Machines that they will have their W230st barebone kits on Monday. It's apparently going to be a few more days to a week before they hit the actual product page, probably the same for other suppliers. I'm getting one as soon as they do though, because of a website error that messed up my original order. It sounds like I will be getting mine directly from their supplier, which means I get it naked and get to put everything in myself.

I haven't read up on all the threads, but I'm guessing this will make me one of if not the first to put hands on it. So I will of course put a thread up and post in the tentative owners lounge. I'll also be doing a full video and print review on my own blog.

The CEO took to facebook to post his reasoning: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?....116842955040162.11402.113306788727112&type=1

I’ve been asked many times why we chose a TN panel over an IPS panel for the Razer Blade and my response has been “It’s the best 14” panel available for gaming.” I thought I’d go into it in greater detail.

The TN panel on the Razer Blade has a transition time of 8ms (16ms worst case) and essentially, that means that pixels can completely turn on or off within the refresh time allotted in a 60Hz display. The IPS panels available to us at the time had a refresh rate of 35ms (50ms worst case) and basically that means there could be visible artifact during pixel transitions from any one color to another.

The difference between 50ms and 16ms means that we can avoid any chance of visible artifact during quickly changing frames, i.e. gaming performance is best on the panel we chose.

However, admittedly, while gaming performance is better on the panel we chose, other issues like vertical viewing angles are poorer for the TN panel as compared to IPS panels.

We made these decisions well aware that it would have an impact on other uses – i.e. lying in bed and watching a movie with a friend etc, but it has always been gaming first here at Razer. Honestly, from my own personal perspective, I don’t have any issues with viewing angles cos I’m forever alone on my laptop anyway.

This is akin to the decision that we made for the first Razer Blade Pro 2 years ago where we picked a dual-core CPU with a higher clock rate vs a quad-core CPU with a lower clock rate. For the tech uninitiated then, most said “why not Quad core?” but the hardcore gamers understood that a higher clock speed dual core CPU would outperform a lower clock speed quad core for gaming. It was only till the Quad Core CPUs met our gaming spec that we moved to a Quad Core CPU. Similarly, when it came to screen selection for the new Razer Blade, we picked the 14” best screen there was for gamers.

Would we pick an IPS panel in the future? Possibly, but only if the refresh rates are up to par with our expectations for our customers – you – the gamer. Until then, the 14” TN panel is the best panel there is for gaming.

Our design philosophy has always been to design and build the best possible products for gamers. And that will never change!

That said I did some googling on the "Chi Mei Innolux N133HSE-EA1" in the clevo w230st... it's 1080p ips panel with a 14/11ms response time according to: CHIMEI INNOLUX N133HSE-EA1 Overview - Panelook.com (it's funny, as i'm sure the website is chinese and they wrote response rime!)

It seems to have gotten some great praise for colour and brightness on the Zenbook reviews, but not sure about refresh performance in games?

    Wait, I'll fix it:
"I’ve been asked many times why we chose a TN panel over an IPS panel for the Razer Blade and my response has been “It’s the best 14” panel available for gaming.” I thought I’d go into it in greater detail.

The TN panel on the Razer Blade has a transition time of 8ms (16ms worst case) and essentially, that means that pixels can completely turn on or off within the refresh time allotted in a 60Hz display. blah blah BS blah... greatest profit margin... blah BS blah. Until then, the 14” TN panel is the best panel there is for gaming.

Our design philosophy has always been to design and build the best possible products for gamers. And that will never change! "

So true. And not just viewing angles, but contrast and brightness suffer with that TN panel. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't find a better TN panel even with reasonable response time, or at least offer the option of a 1080p or better panel for added cost. If you're going to make a premium laptop and charge a premium cost, best to use premium components, especially the ones that mean the most.
