Well, I can´t do anything about it and have to wait for the RMA - "funny", two years ago, just a few weeks after I purchased my GTX 485m one GTX 485m died, too. Had to wait for about 3 weeks, then I had a new one and never problems with the GTX 485m´s. So I hope it will be the same here ;).

I just run the new 3DMark, now with my one card left, stock clocks (graphics) and overclocked 970 (runs permanently at 980x speed):

I really need to try this new 3dmark, I have no idea yet how to interpret those results.
Could you please run a 3dmark11 test with your good 680M?

    Here we go, stock clocks
One card seems to run a little bit colder than running SLI... (before the temp was about 69° in 3DMark11)

BTW, I already beginn to miss sli ;)... in Dirt Showdown with one card I had to disable advanced lightning and global illumination to get about 60 FPS... when enabled I only get about 30 FPS with 25 FPS minimum, and that doesn´t look very good...

How did you get the 1.05V vBios to work?
If I flash that, the screen stays black...(can go back with blind flashing, no problem)

The version of the bios you are using is important.

Hm, the vBios was corrupt! Somehow it didn´t download the file correct with Internet Explorer, with Firefox I got a bigger file and now it is running... ;)
Everything´s ok now, thanks for the input! :)

Well, regarding your scores at 3DMark in "Fire Strike" I'm a little bit confused about my scores I achieved with my GTX 675m SLI at stock settings. I supposed that I should have reached nearly the same scores but far from it!

    Unbenannt.JPG

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-980X Processor,CLEVO CO. X7200 score: P1845 3DMarks

As I have sold my P150HM, I don't have the possibility to double check the same tests with a GTX 680m. For comparison my score with 3DMark 11:

    3DMark 11 - GTX 675m SLI (310.70).JPG

As you can see it matches the scores of your GTX 680m.

Any hints what went wrong?

You need an SLI profile for that...had the problem (did some runs in SLI before my second card died) and solved it like this:
Updated to the newest Beta drivers- went into nvidia inspector and to the SLI profiles (sli bits). Saved the profile.
Went back to the 310.70 cracked SLI driver, loaded the profile. Did work ;).

So here are 3DMark 11 and Vantage overclocked with the 1.05V vBios the highest I could get them.

    3DMark 11
    [IMG]

    3DMark vantage
    [IMG]

Now I´m flashing back to stock voltage vBios, will do some more when I´ll get back SLI to work :D.

1070 is a good speed for that voltage :) the CPU is keeping your score back just a tad but not much. SLI should be good :D

Is there anyone in or around Munich who is willing to introduce me how to flash BIOSes, vbioses, CPU's and all the stuff? I must admit that I don't have the heart to try it by myself without having someone who could help me out, if things go wrong.
I know that it may sound silly and I'm sure that it isn't as difficult as it might be, but nevertheless I would have someone who could explain it to me in front of my notebook....

I've already read several overclockers threads twice but there are too many questions left! :(

Really would like to help, but I live in Berlin, so too far away :(.
But it´s really not difficult, flashing a Bios oder vBios is taking 1 minute, if not less. You can always ask here, if you have any questions!
Or you could try finding someone over in the Hardwareluxx forum, maybe there is someone in Munich who can help you! :)

Ähm, I don't understand what you mean?

If you mean 310.70, then yes it is installed.

Where do I do that? I didn't find any "Save" icons, only the export icon.

    Unbenannt.JPG Unbenannt1.JPG

And where do I do that???

Sorry for the (silly) questions! But really I am not familiar with this....

Yes, it´s about exporting and importing.
I meant the new beta driver, not the one from different SLI Hack.

But before we go through that, maybe it´s easier this way:
I´ve attached the profile for "3DMark" for nvidia inspector. Just extract it, and import the extracted file into the inspector.

    Maybe this will work.

I've tried this as you said but unfortunately it didn't work! :(
I don't know, if you are able to see if the SLI-Profile was imported correctly, respectively works also for the GTX 675M SLI:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-980X Processor,CLEVO CO. X7200 score: P1845 3DMarks

    By the way:

Do you have the new Beta-Driver 313.96 installed? If yes, how is this possible without the SLI-Hack? If I remember correctly, the actual SLI-Hack is only for the 310.70, right?

Yes, I just figured it out too! :D

Installed the newest Beta-Driver and ran the SLI-Hack (310.70). It worked! Imported the SLI-Profile from Tirenz into Nvidia Inspector, et voilà!

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-980X Processor,CLEVO CO. X7200 score: P3494 3DMarks

That was with "Global Settings" I will select the 3DMark Profile and run the test again. Maybe I'll score a little bit higher than this one....

Of course this result is far away from "fluid", but thanks to Tirenz it works fine now!

@Tirenz: If I ever visit Berlin again, I'll invite you to a beer or Kebap or what ever you like! ;)

It seems the 3DMark-Profile has no visible impact:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-980X Processor,CLEVO CO. X7200

Isn't it strange that on 3DMark 11 the scores between a single GTX 680m and GTX 675m SLI are nearly the same, but in 3DMark differs significantly? It's not that I'm jealous at Tirenz' scores! :D

As I have now a second PSU, I will start with some "soft"-overclockings and after that I will see how far I can go with it....

Glad you figured out a way!
Don´t know why the import didn´t do the job; I went back to 310.70 (because some software said it is 310.70 and some 313.96 with original 313.96 and 310.70 SLI Hack) and the 3DMark profile was gone; so I updated again, saved the profile, went back again to 310.70 and imported the profile, and it worked...
But at least you got it to work now :).
Beer, Kebab, Currywurst... I´ll take them all ;) if you visit Berlin :).

As for the score: Take a closer look, the main difference lies in the combined score, mine is a lot higher than yours. So maybe SLI and PhysX just use one of the two cards for the combined score... so that could be the reason for the difference.

Highest scores overclocked you can see here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/707367-3dmark-released-6.html#post9076508
So now you can use your two PSU´s and see what you can get ;).
    I miss my SLI :( ;).

A 680M will have stronger leanings towards the newer shader tests and techniques since it is a more modern design.

So I got my second GTX 680m back. A big thanks to ONE.DE, who were really fast in sending me a replacement card!

Since there are a lot of benchmark threads all over the place of this forum and in this thread, I just updated the first original posting of this thread with all the benches I did lately. There is a new 3DMark11 and a Vantage bench with highest overclocking settings there, too, never posted before ;), along with the results of the new benches 3DMark, Catzilla and Unigine Valley.
So we can compare the scores (stock/ overclocked) better :).

    Hi Tirenz,

is there any chance that we can get an updated Index of Different SLI? I tried the newest driver (314.22) and had to realize that I can only get the driver installed till 314.07.

Did you have the same or different experiences with that?

I guess we will see another hack, but if you look at the driver versions, I think we´ll have to wait a little bit more. :(

I went back to the 310.70 anyway, because I had crashes with just hacking the new drivers. But what I do is updating to the new driver and save the new SLI profiles in nVidia inspector, then go back to 310.70 and import the new SLI profiles. That helps with new games and SLI ;).

    Hello,

Fisrt of all, i want to say sorry because the question may has been asked before.
My english is not very good, i am a german, too.

    I bought a XMG U700 with a X7200.
In this moment, i run 2 460Ms SLI and i would like to upgrade them to 1 680.
What do i have to do? I read that the 680M works with the 580M heatsinks but does it work with the ones from my 460M, too?
Can i upgrade my laptop? is there enough space? you all had 485Ms before, but i have 460s...
And the last question is: where can i buy a GTX 680M? I looked on one.de, but i cant find an option to buy only one 680M.

I can post screenshots of my laptop if you need them to help me.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Florian Schneider

    Hello Nitroshock,

I am not sure if the GTX 460m heatsink will fit exactly, but I guess it´s possible if you remove some of the pads. If it doesn´t fit perfectly, you can order a heatsink at Goldenstar computers, you have to mail them, they are a german Clevo service center:
    Clevo Germany
From my own experience: They always sell you that kind of stuff, but sometimes you have to write them twice, they are a little bit lazy ;).

Otherwise, your laptop will run the GTX 680m without problems. Make sure you have the latest BIOS installed.
You will have to use a modded driver inf, the instructions are shown by Sirana at the first post of this thread, or you can use always the ones from laptopvideo2go.com.

You have to PM one.de or mail them, they don´t sell the cards in their shop.

Feel free to contact me via PM if you would like to write in german ;).

First of all, Thank you for your answer.
I would really like to write in german, but i can't write PMs so far, i dont have enough posts :S

    I have 3 questions left:
Will the performance of my laptop increase noticeably when i change the 2 460s with 1 680?
What do you mean with "it´s possible if you remove some of the pads"?
Can i just remove both of the 460Ms from my laptop and put the 1 680M into? In which of the slots should i put it?

It would be great if you could PN me because like i said before, i cant PN you...

    Many thanks in advance

    1) One 680M is about as powerful as two 580M, so yes you should see a nice boost.
    2) You should buy a 485M or 580M Heatsink, as it has the same design as the 680M. Technically you could use the 460M Heatsink if you re-arrange the position of some thermal Pads, but I would not recommend you to do so.
    3) You can put the 680M in whatever slot you like, as there is no strict "Master/Slave" system anymore. I put it in the right one, though.

It works fine but only up to 320.00. If you try the SLI-Hack on 320.00 you get the message that SLI is enabled but you won't see the SLI-Menu on the Nvidia system control. So de facto you can't use it on 320.00! ;(

Well the hack works fine, I don´t mind not using it on the newer Beta drivers, I just update the profiles for SLI via nvidia inspector. I haven´t seen that much difference in all the latest drivers (maybe only for some new games, where they improve them a lot), so I don´t mind as long as every 5 months I can use another new one.

I saw some first Benches of the GTX 780m in the other thread, they are good, but not that good to upgrade again for a high price. Well, maybe, if it turns out the GTX 780m will be a lot more better than the first Benches ;).
But it would be another risk, someone has to try it the first time in X7200... since I know my GTX 680m´s are working perfectly in my X7200 (never get blue screens or anything else)... well I don´t know ;)

I am also a proud owner of a 2011's Clevo X7200 (mine coming from mySN), currently running an i7-980x with a GTX 480m and 6GB RAM Triple-Channel. Since I stumbled over this thread, it got me hooked! Right now, I am researching if and how I can put a single 680m or 780m into it. As I can gather from this thread, its already possible to put a single 680m into the X7200 without a problem. The following questions are still open, as I cannot find Information on them:

    - for a single 680m, we have to use a modded driver. Do all the functions of the card work with the latest modded driver? Meaning automatic downclock when being in office (love the X7200 being that silent in office while being an absolut monster while gaming)? Power Saving features all working?

    - did anyone already test a 780m?

    - does the heatsink of the 480m fit or am I forced to buy a new heatsink from Clevo directly?

    - I guess the CPU wont even be outnumbered by a SLI 780m-Configuration yet, so the performance boost should be exorbitant compared to the 480m?

    - should I update the RAM?

    - which version of the 680m did you guys implement into your X7200's? The 2GB or the 4GB ones?

    - what did you pay and where did you buy? Theres a reseller on Ebay from the UK who sells the 2GB 680m for about 520 EUR incl. delivery to germany

Thanks in advance for all your help, I usually am in the Notebookjournal.de-Forum :)

    Best regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

there's absolutely nothing special to implement a single GTX 680m, or even in SLI-Mode, in a X7200, thanks to this thread! ;)
As far as I know, the 2GB variant are the ones coming from DELL's Alienware, but if you are not supposed to play with 4-6 monitors in high res, the 2GB will do it without problems!
I am afraid that your current heatsink won't fit, but you easily can purchase one at "Clevo Deutschland"

    Clevo Germany

You should order one for a GTX 580m as this one was the last one supported by the X7200. It spares you a lot of e-mailing! ;-)

For the modded drivers just follow this link:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/611371-tutorial-how-install-remove-amd-nvidia-drivers-using-clean-method.html

Pricing for a GTX 680m is tough, even now. If you are very patient then you might have luck finding one in an auction. But even then the auctions seldom finish under 400-450€. I was/am looking for months! :(

If you are happy not having the latest and best graphic cards, then I can offer you two GTX 675m because I upgraded mine to GTX 675mx SLI!
    Just send me a PM.

@Meaker: I know, I know! Some configurations starts to make sense, if the price is low enough! :)

But anyway: I am/was satisfied with both configurations. There is actually no game which beats this SLI configurations at the moment and in the near future....

Well there is no new counterpart to the 680M at the moment, so until then I think it will stay around where it is.

    Thanks for your answer, CaerCadarn!
Sadly, I dont think too highly of SLI, due to excess power usage and the screen tearing at lower framerates. I always just use one card (that was why I used 480m instead of 2x 470m when i bought it).

Right now, I got an offer for around 520 for a single GTX 680m 2GB.

But I still dont know about the modded driver for 680m in X7200 - it works, that far I can tell from this thread - but what about ALL functions? Does it downclock to minimum settings when using office functions and goes to higher clocks at gaming? What about the BIOS and vBIOS, do we have a stable version without any issues and the support of all functions? At the resellers, I always see "no HDMI possible" "no sound" - whats up with that? Anyone have further intel on that? I usually hook up the X7200 to a 60" FullHD TV via HDMI, playing in native 1920x1080. Skyrim, for example, with about 130 mods and highest graphic settings can get a bit choppy after some time...

From one's own experience, I can tell you that I had no such troubles you mentioned and also full functionality with my GTX 680m in my P150HM, including HDMI connectivity. Usually the resellers offer the cards for a specific barebone. If there are differences when you use e.g. a graphics card pulled out from an Alienware in a Clevo Barebone that I don't know. Maybe that question can be answered from another one?
The offer you mentioned: for what Notebook is it for? Normally the resellers mention that. If it is specifically an upgrade for the X7200 then you don't have to worry about.

OK, I am confused now. The 680m is always the same, on matter what barebone you stick it into, Alienware, Clevo, MSI, whatever other brand uses the 680m. Only the heatsink/cooling is different for each barebone and has to be adjusted (in this case by getting a heatsink for a 580m from Clevo directly). Is that not the case ?! Because if that is the case, it wouldnt help knowing that the 680m works flawlessly with all functions in a P150HM-barebone, right...?

The offer I mentioned is from upgrademonkey on Ebay, I think it comes from an Alienware notebook. What I want to know is:
    - is there a X7200 owner here that put a 680m into his X7200 and got it running with ALL functions (automatic fan control, automatic downclocking/upclocking power management/power saving features, return from hibernation, etc.) on a modded driver?

The GTX 680m offered was a specifically upgrade for my P150HM. So I suppose that at least a Clevo vbios was on this card. And that's the point!
Physically the cards are all the same but you have different vbioses for each brand, and I don't know how a vbios, designed for an Alienware, affects a Clevo Notebook!? If you have a closer look on the offers on ebay then you will see that each offer is for a specific barebone. I'm not sure if this matters something?

So maybe Meaker, Tirenz or Sirana are able to kindly answer your questions. But I am pretty sure that if there would have been some issues with functionality, nobody would have spent such amounts of money to get half of the functionality of a GTX 680m (SLI).
My GTX 675mx SLI (same architecture) were pulled out from P150EM's and are working without issues in my X7200. ;)

P.S.: why you don't ask the reseller who offers the card? He should be able to answer your questions about compatibility and functionality.

    Hi,

    YES to all functions.
I can use HDMI-in (my model has HDMI-in), HDMI out, it stays downclocked in idle/ office mode, it raises the clocks when gaming, it comes back from sleep mode... and this all with SLI (special hack) and modded drivers! The fan control is perfect, too - the temps are about 65° to 75° usually, only with some games like Crysis 3 they can raise to 80-83° after a while.
Oh and I have sound! ;)

I think the 7970m was a problem in the X7200m and had no HDMI/ internal sound.

Fact is that my configuration which is nearly one year old runs perfect stable! I never had a black screen or blue screen, which I had a lot when I had my initial 6970m´s in crossfire mode, and that cards were officially supported!

I got my card from one.de over PM in the hardwareluxx forum (german forum) for a real good price, even a bit lower than the offer you have - and that was a year ago, when it was the fastet card!
I would use the Clevo one, I don´t know if you can use the Dell one. They use other vBios (you can flash a Clevo Bios) and sometimes even the hardware can be different so that the laptop has no fan control or something like that - but since I didn´t try it, I cannot answer for sure.

I think you can do no wrong with buying a single GTX 680m, only if you want to buy a new laptop next year or so, then I would not spend my money but wait.
