Thanks again everybody for contributing to my questions! Yes indeed, I would more than welcome sirana to also add input on these questionsTirenz, I read about differences in barebone versions considering having a HDMI In or not (this was an optional upgrade option when I ordered my X7200) and connected with this, the warning about functionality of HDMI and sound was provided. I dont see the logical connection there... OK, so I guess it will work flawlessly. And for the heatsink I absolutely need to buy a new one, for the old one (480m) is not fitting or needs to have the thermal pads rearranged, which has a high probability of getting thermal problems due to not-optimum connectivity inbetween the layers (?). Where on the card can I tell the reseller to look for if it is a clevo-compatible 680m ?
Other than that, what Tirenz said just seems like wonderful news to me. Tirenz, can you provide me the email adress of the person you contacted for the ordering of the 680m's and the exact price you paid a year ago? Right now, my reseller offered me a 2GB-Version for 599 EUR without any warranty. Maybe you could ask for me if that results in a better price?!![]()

Hi the_avater,
yes, there are two different version of the X7200, but I think the GTX 680m works fine with both versions.
The radeon 7970m has problems with sound and HDMI, like it is stated here:
Clevo X7200 VGA Upgrade Kit - AMD HD 7970M; 2GB GDDR5; MXM 3.0b | eBay
Nothing similiar is said about GGTX 680m here:
CLEVO X7200 UPGRADE KIT - NVIDIA GTX 680M; 4GB DDR5; MXM 3.0b with VGA Heatsink | eBay
(they obviously don´t know of the SLI hack I am using)
The GTX 580m/ GTX 485m heatsink seems to fit perfectly, I don´t know if it´s possible to modify a 480m heatsink as I don´t own one. I do know that they are different.
I would suggest you try to contact the reseller one.de here at this forum via PM. I will PM you the price I paid last year.
Maybe you try to contact other resellers, too, and see who will offer best price.
I would like to help you by asking them, but I don´t know any of the one.de or other stuff personally, so I think it doesn´t make any sense, just try and see what you will get going. -
Sorry I couldn't contribute earlier.
I replied your PM just now, avatar!
I think the 480m heatsink should also fit the 680m, but as Tirenz said the 480 is slightly different from a 485 so you might need to mod/rearrange some pads to fit properly. I would suggest to contact a reseller to confirm this, or if you dont want to fiddle around with that, just order a 485m/580m Heatsink.
Most questions are already answered, so a little summary...
The 680m works perfectly in the X7200, given that you modded the driver with my little guide on Page 1 of this thread.
Any driver works fine, there are absolutely no problems regarding the compatibility.
The fan works just as intended.
You can overclock it safely as the X7200 has an effecient cooling due to much room for the airflow.
The 2GB model is intended for Alienware Notebooks and has a different vbios on it. Blindflashing might be one option, given that it boots, but if you are not very experienced with flashing vbios' I would highly recommend buying a 4GB model. Most 4GB models come pre-flashed for the X7200 from the reseller if you ask them nicely. In my case it was easy because the x7200 680m upgrade kit from Eurocom included a flashed 680m already.
HDMI and DVI works perfectly, I also play some games in 3D both with the active 120hz method and the passive interlacing 3D method.
Soooo if I missed anything in my PM and this post, let me know -

The 480 and 485 are quite different due to the different core used.
I would highly recommend pre flashed cards if you can get them reasonably. -
Hi @ all,
is there a chance to get a new update of Index of /DifferentSLI?
Thank you and kind regards -
There seems to be a new method to run different SLI!
SLI with different cards - techPowerUp! Forums
I didn´t try it out, but will do these days. -
Tried it and it works perfectly for me!
The link in the first post there doesn´t work at this time, but you´ll find the link later in the thread.
Now I can use the latest driver 331.82 with SLI without problems. -
How do I use the latest nvidia drivers and activate SLI? I can't find any new patches. Can someone please help me?
By the way I have installed the newest drivers with my two 680m GTX setup. Just can't get them to work in SLI. -
Forgot to mention that the driver version I installed is 337.88

Thanks for the response. I forgot to mention that I am running on a Clevo x7200 with two 680m GTX video cards (sorry about that). So I need the SLI hack that was mentioned at the start of this thread. The only problem is that the hack goes up to nvidia driver version 320 and nothing beyond that. I was wondering how Tirenz was running nvidia driver version 331.82 in SLI (with a Clevo x7200 running two 680m GTX cards) when there is no hack to be found? If someone can tell me how to get SLI working on a Clevo x7200 running two 680m GTX cards with nvidia drivers 337.88 installed that would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I have many Isues with my GTX680M 4GB MSI Cards in my Clevo X7200 i need your help Tirenz.
Your are my last hope i try to get it to Work for 3 Weeks with no success.
I belive if i do exactly the same as you do it must work. I might have done many mistakes. Just tell me a few Information so no need to anylyse what i done wrong.
Tell me Please what vBios do you use ?
Could you please send me the Modded.inf ?
If i use the inf from Laptop video to go the driver install fail because of Hash don't mach.
Please help me. -
Hi,
I don´t know if the MSI card will work - I use Clevo cards (original for the P170EM, I think...).
Look here for vBios for the GTX 680m:
NVIDIA Kepler VBIOS mods - Overclocking Editions, modified clocks, voltage tweaks
All the vBios did work for me except the DELL ones - even the MSI vBios!
I am using the 80.04.67.00.01 since nearly two years without problems.
And I use the "laptopvideo2go" mods since the first SLI Hack update, it works without any problem. Maybe it´s the MSI card that´s responsible for the problem.
Please tell me: What exactly IS the problem right now - only the driver install fail? -
i was thinking it too, it meight be the MSI GTX680M. But if reight bios is used it souldn't be a Problem.
Could you send me the Bios File by Mail ? Unfortunetly i haven't got 5 Post so can't download at Techinferno.
I would choose the 1050v 80.04.67.00.01. I'm on unmoded 80.04.67.00.01.
You have told something about tricking the Driver to think its a 580M. In that case you would have modified the INF from LV2Go ? I think this could be the Problem i give my device ID and subsys in. But this is 680m where do you modify it for 580m recognision ?
beside my inf is wrong modified where do you copy it in ? If i Paste it in Drivers folder it replace existing file and then Driver say Hash isn't reight meight be modified. What should i do ?
a other Problem is my Bios Bootup (Sager Screen) takes about 2 Minutes i'm not sure if this has something to do with the Card. Somethimes i turn it of and on again after 10 Seconds 2 or 3 Times then it boots up but if bootet working fine beside the 680m.
I'm on newest Bios Mod for x7200.
Please send help and send me the Bios and moded inf for GTX680M.
You would save my day.
Thank you -
The tricking of the driver to think it´s a GTX 580m was only because GTX 680m wasn´t officially supported with that driver, and it was the only driver who was modded to work with SLI.
Now there is the different SLI hack who will enable SLI for every new driver (at least till the latest one at this point), it´s not a modded driver itself.
Take a look here: SLI with different cards | TechPowerUp Forums
If you download the .inf from lv2g, you have to replace the original nv_disp.inf in the driver folder. You have to take a look it the file ending is "inf", some Browsers save it as txt file.
I never got any problems after doing that installing the driver.
Your problem with the BIOS/ 2m booting has something to do with flashing a modded sager bios over Clevo bios. You always have to flash the ORIGINAL bios first before you flash the modded BIOS. I had that problem, too, and solved it when I flashed the original BIOS and then the modded BIOS.
As for the vBIOS, I am sorry, but I can´t give you that. If you don´t want to make 5 posts, you can buy a (limited) membership for $5 and download it then. A lot of people (in that case "svl7") were working very hard to enable the mods, and it wouldn´t be fair to ignore the rules. -
Did anyone experience some Installationproblems with the actual Nvidia driver 347.09?
I tried to update it as usual with the modded driver from laptopvideo2go and the inf.file. But after the removal of the previous and installation of the new driver there was no "Nvidia System Panel". The cards were recognized only as "Standard VGA driver" AND there was no way to get back to the previous driver (344.75). Couldn't delete the Nvidia Registry-Files via Driver Sweeper.
The only way to solve this was to do a System Recovery to get back to the restore point prior trying updating the Nvidia driver.
Anyone who had the same problems? If not how did you update the driver? I followed every step mentioned in this guide and it did work fine till 344.75!Last edited: Dec 29, 2014 -
Yes, there is a problem.
In the TechPowerUp Forum they are already working on it, see this post:

That worked for me! -

Nvidia have messed around with quite a bit of the detection mechanisms it seems as it has broken things like overclocking for certain chips. Hopefully this is resolved as it's causing inconvience to quite a few people.

Also what power supply setup do you have? One or two bricks? Which ones are you using?

Just wanted to let you know that my X7200 now runs on Windows 10 - still with GTX 680m SLI. I upgraded yesterday from my good ole Windows 7.
The "Different SLI"-Tool described in this thread works with Windows 10, although it was a little bit more "tricky" than under Windows 7.
The only problem were "Bad Pool header"-bluescreens after upgrade every time I connected to the internet. I looked for new drivers for my WLAN and LAN, but whatever I tried, I got the BSOD.
Finally I searched a bit more and found that the solution was to disable "DNE Lightweight Filter" from the adapter configurations. No problems since then!
The Intel XTU 2.1 still works under Windows 10 with X7200, I can´t use a higher version (it´s all greyed out then).
So, after upgrading my P177SM-A without problems last week I can say that on an older laptop it works fine, too.I even get some extra points in the benchmarks
.

I'm using the latest Intel XTU with no problems. Had no problems installing NVidia and WLAN drivers but I did have issues with the Intel RST 14.5 RAID driver and had to revert to the built-in driver. Windows 10 crashes on almost every boot with the iRST 14.5 driver.
-
Forgot to mention, I have been having issues with the esata port in W10. Causes the RAID to stop responding.
-
For my single 680M everything works fine, the only Windows 10 issue is that the volume control LEDs are not flashing. Pressing works though, there is just no light to signal the volume level. Did anyone manage to fix this?
-
Funny that we all habe some different experiences
.
My Volume control bar doesn´t work showing the right LED flash, too. But I think sometimes it didn´t do it´s job even in Windows 7. -
Hey guys, so I want to dive in and do some research before buying a pair of 680M cards.
First, are there any issues with the setup? Will it work with newer drivers? Is there anything that doesn't work? I know I'm late to the game, but my 485M SLI setup hasn't given me issues with not running games. Not that I have much time for games anyway.
So what are he limitations? I don't want to drop the cash if it's going to give me headaches. Thanks for any advice, and I'll begin reading up on this thread. Thanks peeps!
After some reading, I have a few questions.
1. What's a decent price for the 680M cards?
2. Any recommendations on where to get them? (I'm in the USA)
3. Does the "different SLI hack still work for new drivers?"
4. I need to focus on the 4GB cards correct?
5. Any other issues that I may have with oberclocking?Last edited: Jan 30, 2016 -
Awesome man, thanks for the info. I'll have spend some time researching the price. Hopefully @Tirenz will chime in.
I'll definitely have fun pushing the cards too. I miss benching lol -
Hi,
yes, the Different SLI hack still works with the latest driver. I still have NO issues, I am on Windows 10 now and it works like a charme. In fact it works so stable that I didn´t buy me a new "monster" notebook yet...DR650SE likes this. -

Hi everyone!!
i have a problem with SLI in my clevo x7200 with two identical 680m 4gb clevo installed on it.
SLI doen't work at all, in the nvidia control panel there is no sli button... i read for HYPERSLI, but is no longer avaiable.... also i have try different sli, but it give me an error during the patch of the nvlddmkm.sys file...
how can i do?
thanks to all. -
Maybe @Tirenz can tell you how he is doing it now to enable SLI.

You have to make a clean install of Different SLI.

thank you for your answer...but it didn't work...
i try to clean all certificate and registry, clean install of an old driver (352),mod the nvlddmkm.sys with different SLI (this time it had work without issue), i've push the install command then i've reboot. nothing has changed...no SLI.... -
Try a newer driver and there is a modded inf on laptopvideo2go.com... Use that and see if SLI works..

yes both cards works....SLI cable is plugged in.
i will try to swap the slots...
i don't need the modded inf, i mod myself the inf file to install the drivers...but i need something else to make SLI active... like different SLI but i don't find any useful guide... -

You will need to flash the vbios on the cards as Tirenz mentioned in this thread with different indexes.
