I'm talking with upgrademonkey, they say I can upgrade up to 780M. I wonder if that is true.

on an easier note, how much RAM can this laptop (AKA clevo x7200) handle? and where do I put it?
EDIT: is there a specific brand/ram type that you recommend?

Well, no one knows for sure right now. At least I don´t know anyone who tried it.
But maybe you´ll be the first! :D
Talk to upgrademonkey, if they´ll take the card back if it doesn´t work, then you don´t have nothing to lose ;).

24GB should be the Limit (3x 8 GB). I use corsair, but I can´t say how much difference any other brand would make.

they say I do this by "unlocking" the BIOS, no idea what that means.
I'm asking for a second opinion someone else tho :p

Corsair huh? I can buy it on amazon...
any specific model of corsair that you recommend/use?

There is an unlocked Version of the BIOS, I use it myself:
Clevo x7200 / Sager NP7280 BIOS MODS With Unlocked Overclocking Options

But as far as I know it has nothing to do with it. I can use a "normal" Sager oder Clevo BIOS, too, and my 680m is still working in the laptop. With the unlocked BIOS I can overclock my CPU and have a lot more options to choose...
If a modded BIOS is needed, I think someone has to write it...

Sorry, I forgot what specific model I use right now, it´s been quite a while, I will look into this later.

    thanks for the RAM advice.
I'm trying to speak with monkey but they tend to be very scarce with their answers.

also, the instructions sent state the the clevo can support only up to 12gb of ram, and only via 2048 cards. how is that possible, considering that there are 3 sockets?
    BIOS version: 6.00 (2011)

    I don't know, 12GB would suggest 3x4GB modules.

agreed. it's the clevo manual which is a bit odd.

Well it has to be, there are only 3 slots so it should say the max they have tested is 3x4GB since that was all that was available when the system was released.
