Hmmmm.... true. Guess I've only been thinking from the gaming point of view. Agreed that I would not have it on full blast in a library! :p

Why not! There're reviews of other miscellany, like USB mice; seems to me a laptop bag is more of a necessity than a frill where a 17" is involved. I say go for it.

just to clarify for people, the combinations are NOT fn+F1/fn+F3, the are fn+1/fn+3 (number keys at top of keyboard, NOT function keys)

fn+F1 and fn+F3 do the touchpad enable/disable and mute functions respectivaly

    Hi guys,
Sorry I didn't get back earlier - was really busy. I got my np5793 last friday and ofcourse, its great! Only problem is, there are 2dead pixels on my screen and try as I might, my eyes are continually drawn to them :( I didn't take the zero dead pixel guarantee, so I guess I have to live with it. Apart from that, everything else is great - I love all the little thjings about it as well. Great review Chaz, I kept recalling the good points you had pointed out while I am using it. The only thing I don't agree with is that the fans aren't loud in my perspective. Also, had to call up powernotebooks CS as initially I couldn't detect my hard drive ( the Robson turbo was mistakenly turned on), and am impressed with their service.

No, you dont have to live with it. If its less than 15ds, you can return and get a new one. Just talk to Donald.

Likely 30 days for a Sager, isn't it?
(If you are speaking of the return policy)

That's right... you can return a Sager notebook in under 30 days for a full refund if you're not "fully satisfied" for a full refund less shipping charges.

Hey Prasad, u know ur responsible for me ordering my sager from XoticPC ?? :p
I got the same config as urs except for an added 1 GB intel rhobson, 200GB 7200RPM HDD and Vista Ultimate.
but i wanna ask u about their service. i ordered mine 3 weeks ago. it took them 7 business days to receive my wire transfer while it should take them only 3, and now 7 working days had passed and still in assembly stage :( BUMMER. was their service this slow with u or is it because i'm an international customer. i live in Kuwait actually. will ship from US PObox through ARAMEX.
I was very very excited at the idea of having my first laptop ever, but now the excitment just died away, hehe too bad.

Out of interest, why did you buy the robson turbo memory? Tests have shown that it makes no difference...

hey guys i think I'm just being extremely unlucky with my purchase. yesterday Xotic PC replied to my email telling me that Friday and Monday were off because of memorial weekend and didn't count, so I'm still in the 7 business day period, how fortunate of me.
so i guess i need another 2 weeks for the thing to each me in kuwait. well just have to wait and keep watching those nice pictures of the laptop on the net :D

    to Theriko
I thought the turbo memory would make a difference, didn't read any reviews online, talk about laptop newbie :p

Fair enough, turbo memory has been shown to help if you don't have much ram in your system, but with anything above 2GB it has almost no impact (and in some rare cases is detrimental to performance). We're all hoping turbomem 2 (coming with montevina) will be better

hey guys, u were right about the xotic pc not updating their phases, just got off the live chat with Justin W and guess what, my laptop already shipped on 27th, hehe.....sweeeet
now i only have to wait a few more days to reach Kuwait.... and the key word here is WAIT :p
    patience patience.....

to theriko, the actual reason for me getting the turbo memory is i wanted an xtra boost to the specs i have but i was already reaching the limit of my budget on the notebook, so i opted for the only possible option, the turbo memory, thinking it would give me at least a 5-10% boost for my RAM/Software Boot performance, since i use mainly heavy RAM requiring software (3Dmax - AfterEffects - Photoshop )for work. Well even if the turbo memory didn't make a difference, i guess i can still brag about it

Sorry for the late update, but i was so busy with my new toy lately, it's incredible... and the Speed woooooww. nothing stands in the way of this machine (haven't tried Crisis yet :p), 8800GTX rule. hehe
now i just have to install 3dmark06 and test it with real numbers, not just lightning fast gameplay. will update u with numbers soon.

PS: i need to add the specs of my rig at the end of my posts, guess i'm too lazy to do it now.

I finally managed to make 3dmark06 work (kept saying it was missing the OpenAL32.dll) and i tell u Prasad, u really got Lucky  . Cause u scored more than i did. Using default settings 1280X1024 i got a score of 9180 :p makes me forget all those long days of waiting.

Man i'm really happy with my laptop. Glad to have made that purchase, wud advice it to any1.
